Class once more

*Morpheus pov*

A bloody grin stretched across my face as I gazed at the goblin council, "Execution would have been less painful," one of the members said despite the large smile on his face

I chuckled, "Perhaps, you would have missed the show though," I shrugged uncaringly

Looking around I noticed something amiss, "Now that the negotiations are over I'm surprised a shaman isn't on the council," I pointed out with a frown

After all, goblin shamans are some of the best and most knowledgeable ritualists in the world only topped by the late Atlantians.

Grommash chuckled, "There is one but, she decided to stay in her chamber something about not wanting to see you," he laughed seeing my curious expression

"Her family line is Grimgore," he added as an afterthought

Suddenly his earlier words made much more sense, I remember during my time as allies with the goblins the Gringore tribe taught me many things about rituals with the thought that I would repay them in the form of knowledge over the veil.

I might have lied about that.

But did they really think I would share knowledge about one of my greatest creations? It could be leaked and used against me, I wouldn't risk that.

"That makes sense," I chuckled softly while taking my seat once more, "Shall we continue ironing out our alliance?"

After my negotiation with the goblins, I arrived back at Hogwarts well into the morning around three am. Luckily I don't really need to sleep I just like it. So for the rest of the 'night,' I spent my time planning my next lesson.

I really want to show my third-year students the importance of these magical herbs. Yes, I have been showing the smoke-and-paste methodology but, at a certain point, there is nothing left to cover but just practicing.

For that, I have decided to showcase some of the less-seen methods of divination using herbs, these methods can easily be used by someone without the eye by just concentration.

Granted when I mean concentration I mean some serious concentration, the type of concentration you feel when doing a hard task and you are completely and wholly consumed by the task. It will be hard for some of these students to even brush up on the level of concentration needed but, that's the beauty of it.

When they finally succeed a feeling of overwhelming accomplishment will arrive, and that feeling will fuel their desire to learn more, to practice more, to reach higher.

I have felt it myself and few things made me as passionate, the first time truly feeling success in divination is special.

What I will teach can be accomplished by the students by themselves, with no group or me to help.

The rest of the night I readied some cauldrons and herbs and then did the divination myself several times, each time writing down notes on how I could change the complex theories into something the students would understand.

The most tiring part of teaching divination is having to figure out how to explain divination to a level where a student can grasp the explanation. I, unfortunately, have to do this with almost every lesson, as I find some students still struggle.

"Good evening class, I know today is right after the exciting duels but let us stay on topic and concentrate I think you all will thoroughly enjoy today's lesson," I announced with a a small smile

"Cauldrons? They hate me professor!" one student Travis yelled in horror seeing the cauldron before him

It's true I've heard of his grades.

I chuckled, "Don't worry too much Travis this is not potions class you won't be blowing anything up," I explained with a small smile

The students chuckled while getting ready for my lesson.

"Now, today we will talk about one of the more useful applications of divination, something I'm sure you have all been waiting for scrying! Scrying is a mystical practice of divination that involves gazing into a reflective surface or medium to perceive visions, symbols, or insights. Wizards often use crystal balls which we have went over, mirrors, or other enchanted objects as scrying tools. The process requires a calm and focused state of mind, allowing the seer to interpret the images or patterns that emerge. Scrying is not limited to visual perceptions; it can also involve other senses, such as auditory or intuitive impressions," I described the process

"I'm sure you are all wondering what this has to do with the cauldron in front of you, well as we learned many find it hard to use crystal balls," it is true they had a hard time, "Using a simple cauldron and some herbs you can experience scrying on a different scale, at the very least you will experience a modicum of scrying but to truly see the maximum results your mind must be focused more focused than its ever been. Which is why we will first perform it with incense after that you're on your own," I said with a small chuckle seeing their disappointed expressions

"Before we start focus and pick something or someone preferably something that isn't too special as it might be behind wards. You can pick a shop in Diagon Alley if you want," I offered

"When you are ready we will start by pouring the treated water I supplied into the cauldron," I said performing the task on my own cauldron

The students followed, "Next add the chopped Mugwort and Thyme, then stir for thirty seconds clockwise," I showed them

"Next, and this is the most important step take a single Emberleaf and crush it in your hand, one squeeze will do as the leaf is quite brittle. Right as you add the Emberleaf stir counterclockwise and close your eyes, breathe in the smoke, and concentrate on what you want to scry," I said performing the task but not closing my eyes so I can see them perform it

The students did, as the emberleaf was added to the cauldron the liquid warmed up, and the previous herbs reacted releasing a small smoke. The students should first smell the location, then as they delve deeper into the process they will slowly form a vision of what the location is.

Eventually, they should feel like they are at whatever or whoever they are scrying. The vision will only last a short while, but it will be insightful.

I could already see the less focused students snap out of the vision, like a domino effect students began to leave the scrying. Eventually, everyone was done.

"What did you think of that?" I asked the class

"I just smelt a bookstore," one of the students who didn't last long said sadly

Xenophilius said, "I smelt and felt like I was at the lake next to my house but didn't see much," he was disappointed I noted

As the students shared their experiences it seemed everyone at the very least smelled or felt like they were where they wanted to peek into.

"Shall we try again?" I asked this time no incense

Despite the low results, the students were eager to exceed their previous attempt. Sadly the incense helped them a lot and many had the same or a lower product.

Xenophilius surprisingly achieved a semblance of a vision albeit a very blurry one, as did Narcissa.
