Mauve tried to keep a straight face as she sat down to eat. At this point, she might as well scream at the top of her lungs that Jael had something to do with why Vae wasn't here anymore.
However, it was harder to pretend not to be happy because she was. Not seeing Vae on the floor with that hideous rope around her neck scavenging for what Seraphino tossed at her was enough to put her in high spirits.
She was grateful when the servants finally put her meal in front of her. At least there was something to take her attention.
She glued her gaze to the food and tried to keep her thoughts strictly about the meal in front of her but it kept straying.
She was sure Seraphino was aware that Vae was no longer in the castle, yet he didn't seem to be disturbed.
Except for the scowl on his face when his eyes met hers, he didn't seem any different. Did he not care?
