Dianna's house was deserted as Justin's Cardillac car pulled into the wide yard. A servant opened the door of the house, ushering Justin into the Mediterranean-style house. The interior design is stunning. There are various types of high artistic value sculptures, paintings on the theme of animals and vampire hunting, large ceramic jars, and many more that are Dianna's favorites.
At first, Justin intended to invite Paris to come to their grandmother's house, but he refused the invitation because he knew Paris would not say yes. So, he walked to find his grandmother in the common room alone as usual when he came to the house. Sure enough, Dianna was sitting in front of the fireplace sipping hot chocolate provided by a maid at her house. A blue-eyed Ragdoll cat was on his lap. The cat head that Dianna often called by the name Kaye turned to Justin. Made Dianna put her cup on the table, then landed a skeptical look on her granddaughter.
"It's a cold day. Why do you come here?" asked the old woman in an even, hoarse voice.
A few minutes ago it was raining in Granite Falls. The cold air still feels bone-chilling, especially according to the weather forecast, there will be a small storm in the next few days.
"I want to ask you." Justin took his place on the sofa next door. He took a deep breath and leaned back against the long armrest of the sofa.
Kaye meowed softly, curling her hairy body into a comfortable position. His snoring was low. Dianna's hand gently stroked her cat fur which made Kaye feel better and warmer. Dianna's head rested against the back of her high chair. She closed her eyes for a moment, before replying,
"What do you want to ask?"
"About the Victor's family history." Justin's small sigh made Dianna open her eyelids. The old woman glanced at her granddaughter without opening her mouth. Justin continued his sentence without getting any interruption from Dianna. "Yesterday when I was hunting, a vampire girl caught my eye. She wears the Victor family crest necklace. The power is enormous. She doesn't seem like an Omidă. Maybe Hexa."
"Cassandra?"
Justin shook his head. "No." Because he knew who Cassandra was. Not once or twice did they meet. Even Cassandra often appeared in front of Justin and teased him. But as usual, Cassandra was able to escape without the shadow of Justin's arrow hitting her chest.
"Then?"
"Who knows. Her face is foreign. I think she just came to Granite Falls." The image of the vampire girl he'd fought against last night was etched in Justin's mind. Everything about Laura is well remembered. The sharp eyes, the charming smile, the graceful way of running, and the stab of the girl's fangs on his wrists caused heat and pain for hours.
Without asking further, Dianna took a deep breath, already able to read Justin's mind. Remember? Dianna is a psychic who can automatically read her grandson's mind.
"Beautiful girl." Dianna's mysterious smile made Justin raise an eyebrow. "The Victors took her to Granite Falls. I don't know what for." Diana straightened herself. Causing Kaye's head to jolt alertly with two wide eyes. The ragdoll cat yawned widely, then pulled its body to stretch its muscles.
"Yesterday too, Cassandra appeared in town. As usual with her two friends."
Indeed, Justin often caught Cassandra with three friends strolling downtown Granite Falls. Justin guessed that the three vampires just wanted some fun time enjoying their world. And if the opportunity arises, suck the human blood that blends in around them. Unfortunately, Cassandra and her two friends were too slippery to catch. Hexa has an advantage in terms of speed. It is undeniable, that Justin often loses quickly to those slick vampires.
"Cassandra does look like a normal teenage girl." Dianna averted her eye contact with Justin. Then her mysterious little smile appeared again. "There's a masquerade party at the Royal Building tomorrow night. You know what that means, Justin?" Looking at Justin, Dianna widened a meaningful smile.
The corners of Justin's lips curled up into an equally wide smile. "Cassandra Victor is a big party freak."
