Chapter 80 - Bounty on their heads

As much as I would like to see our friends, this wasn't the time nor the place for us to meet, especially after the massacre that we left behind, so before the car could reach our location, we run away, heading deeper inside Azgeda's territory.

Three minutes later, the car stopped right outside the place where we massacred the Azgeda. Octavia was the first one to jump off the car, then Bellamy and Miller were the first two to get out of the car, followed by Monty, Harper, and Raven, leaving the drunkard inside the car.

No matter how much bloodshed you saw, watching dismembered corpses wasn't going to get any better. Monty the girls couldn't take the sight for more than a few seconds before all three of them had to barf, meanwhile, Miller, Octavia, and Bellamy were looking at what was left with a strange look on their faces.

"I don't know if it's intentional or not, but those wounds are definitely made by firearms, and not the smaller kind."

"It's either them or another group that found those guns and decided to get revenge on the ice nation…Still, why would Leon, Monroe, and Sergey attack Azgeda when we are at peace with the grounders? Something doesn't add up."

"Whatever their reason is, I'm sure that they know something we don't, and let's be honest here. These grounders aren't exactly loved or even liked by their own."

As the two were talking, Raven came back, slightly pale, but definitely a lot better than when she first saw the gore. At the same Octavia was checking the bodies for anything that may indicate why they were attacked.

"H-how could you two be fine wat-watching the corpses?"

"Who said that we are alright with that?"

"Raven, we just steel ourselves."

She threw them a disgusted look, before she observed the wounds, reaching the same conclusion as them, but rather than voicing it out, she decided to inspect the area further, hoping to find even the tiniest bit of clue about who ambushed these grounders.

Maybe it was a mistake or maybe it was on purpose, but after searching the area for a while, Raven did find something. That something was a small patch with a raven drawn on one side, while on the other side was a gasmask inside a D. Even though this could be a huge coincidence, Raven decided to believe that this patch belongs to her friend rather than to some random stranger.

"Here, take a look."

"What should I see? It's just a patch with a raven and a gasmask inside a D. There's nothing else on it."

"God dammit, I forgot that you aren't smart. The raven is definitely from Leon and the gasmask inside a D is probably what they call themselves now."

"Well then know-it-all, where do you think our friends are right now?"

Before Raven could say her guess, Monty and Harper, interrupt them with their own answer. "We all know them, and while Leon acted as our leader, he has Sergey and Monroe with him. And knowing the way these three work together, I'd say that they are inside the Ice Nation territory, most likely hunting more grounders as we speak."

Bellamy let out a defeated sigh before taking out his walkie-talkie.

"Sector 7, here. Camp, please respond."

For a few seconds, nothing happened, when suddenly Kane's voice came from the other side. "Sector 7, what's your situation?"

"Bad, really bad, sir. We found a whole group of Azgeda warriors, filled with bullet wounds, most of them dismembered by some high caliber guns."

"Have you tried to find survivors?"

"With all due respect, sir, these wounds…no one would have survived."

"If no one is alive, then, please return, we have another situation that needs you guys."

Meanwhile, Byrne and Kane stopped right outside the flat area where they saw Indra and two grounders standing before them. It took him a moment, but as they drew closer, Marcus recognized exactly who one of the Grounders was, and since he was with Indra, that means that Bellamy's worries were right on point.

Gustus and Indra spotted them almost as soon as they stop walking.

"Seeing that you are with him, I guess it's pretty bad."

Indra stared at Kane as he gave her the most apologetic smile he could muster. Gustus sighed and stiffened, knowing that his mere presence was bad enough for the commander, not to mention for her new right hand.

"We did not come here to catch up. All of us know why I left with the Osleya."

"Even the commander knows that Gustus didn't come back to beg for forgiveness. He came before your three fugitives to warn us about something unsettling. "

Even though she didn't like it at all, Indra defended him, making both Byrne and Marcus raise their eyebrows in response before Byrne bypassed all word games.

"This is about Clarke, right?"

Gustus nodded in response, showing a rare expression on his face, pity. Hearing that it's related to Clarke, his lover? Daughter, Marcus was the first one to inquire about what they have found or heard.

"Have you found Clarke? Or at least made contact with her?"

"We haven't, but I hope we do it fast. Kane, you need to know something."

Indra and Gustus looked at each other, sharing a mutual glance at each other before Indra turned back to Kane and looked between the commander and his most trusted aide as she tried to put it into words that wouldn't be too harsh, but nevertheless, there doesn't exist any words that could describe Clarke's situation nicely.

"A bounty has been put on Wanheda's head "

"That means…Clarke's is their target."

"The Ice Nation believes that she wields the power of all the lives she took at Mount Weather. The Commander and I are afraid the Ice Queen's greed will cause the coalition to collapse. Ice Nation never believed in the coalition, to begin with, and this gives them the perfect excuse to wage a war against the clans. If they somehow get their hands on Clarke, then war will happen."

"That's ridiculous, Indra. Clarke wasn't the only one that killed inside Mount Weather."

"That may not be the truth, but people tend to believe what they heard and not what's true. Clarke took it up all on herself, making her a target for the Azgeda."

"Doesn't that mean that Leon also has one?"

"Your Osleya is a strange one. They did send people after, but they all laid underground now. Not even a single bounty hunter returned, not even the best ones Azgeda had. They were forced to leave the bounty as a dream for now, since no one has ever reported if they fought or saw him dead. Besides, most of them hadn't stepped outside of your camp in over three months. And sadly the rumors had spread that Clarke left your camp because of that."

Suddenly Kane's radio was contacted by someone. All four of them listen to Bellamy as he explained their situation for the second time since he and his team left.

"Sector 7. We had to shoot some Ice Nation scouts that saw us near the ambush site."

"Pack your things and get out of there. Meet us in front of Arkadia, Bellamy. "

"Roger and out ."

Not long after that call, Indra, Gustus, Byrne, and Kane stepped out of the bushes, waiting near the path for the rover to reach them. A few minutes later, Bellamy stopped the rover just a few meters away from them. As Kane rushed out in front of them, Bellamy was talking with Miller who was following him.

"I'm sorry...Sir, before you say anything, there was a good reason…"

"We'll deal with that later. We have some rather disturbing news about Clarke."

Bellamy raised an eyebrow and looked over at Miller for a split second before turning back nervously, not exactly wanting to hear what Marcus was about to say.

"What happened to her, sir?"

Rather than letting Kane explain it to them, Indra decided to break the ice by saying it straight into their faces. "There's a bounty on her head. She's being hunted for that."

"By who?"

"By everyone that believes can become a god or needs fame."
