When Ripper and Vander woke up they both got out of bed rather fast. Vander yawned as he used magic to clean his teeth, body and changed his clothes into some jeans, and made a Rexy hoodie over his shirt.
"Demonic Mana sure is nifty."
Ripper rolled his eyes which made Vander look at him.
"Here."
Vander pointed his finger at Ripper and made an Indoraptor pet shit. It fit the raptor perfectly which he liked as it had his face.
"Don't rip it as I won't make you another world."
They both walked out of the room going toward the dining room where they would eat breakfast and then go home. It was quite easy just how much Ripper liked his hoodie as he was walking just a bit more carefully than usual.
Vander started to whistle a happy toon as they entered the dining room. When they arrived, everyone else was also arriving which was nice. He sat down in his chair with Ripper sitting right behind him.
When La Folia saw the pet shirt that Ripper was wearing she thought it was both badass and cute.
"Vander, is Ripper wearing a shirt with his face on it?"
Vander nodded as he was proud of it.
"Sure is. Nothing is cooler than Ripper is there."
Zeoticus did not expect Ripper to be so calm as he wanted to protect his shirt.
"I see. I will have the chefs prepare him something good to eat. It would be bad for him to go hungry and decide to eat Kiba."
He did not mean it as an insult, but literally as Ripper was looking at Kiba with drool in his mouth. Kiba shivered as he could see Ripper looking at him like a snack.
"Please, do not let him eat me Vander."
Vander looked at Ripper and patted his head.
"Ripper, fast food is not good for you you need something more filling."
La Folia and Naerdeath barely managed to keep it together as they loved the joke. Fast Food was quite new in the Underworld, but it was a thing. Rias looked at Kiba who laughing, but she noticed how his hands were shaking.
He did not like Ripper at all as the raptor looked down on him.
"Kiba."
He looked at Rias who was worried for him.
"I am fine, it was just a joke after all."
Vander nodded.
"Don't take it to heart man. I meant no harm with that."
Naerdeath nodded.
"A bit of joking around is normal."
She started to drink from her mead which she asked for. Dwarves drank with every meal and she was no better. She had started drinking with her dad when she was 10 so alcohol was part of her blood at this point.
Zeoticus looked at her with a smile.
"Your father is sending you with Vander now?"
She nodded.
"Yes sir. My dad wants me to get some experience and to join Vander's future peerage as his first rook."
Grayfia looked at Vander with a curious look.
"Vander, I did not you wanted to have a peerage?"
"I actually didn't at first, but I think recruiting my own team will be worth it. Do you think I can leave school early so I can go around recruiting people from different factions? I think it would be cool to do?"
She thought about it and decide to do something for him.
"If you can rise to a High-class Devil and pass this year with flying colors that is a possibility. To do that you will have to get Devil pacts. My daughter can take you along with her as she takes pacts from around the world. A little old-fashioned if I do have to say."
La Folia was a devil who still did pacts for human souls for one reason only.
"Demons eat souls and I use the souls I gain through pacts to feed to him. I even tell the people who want to make a pact with me about this so I don't get many who accept. Still, there are people who are greedy, desperate, or dumb enough to accept."
Rias had not heard about that which made her look at her niece with some apprehension.
"You feed souls to a demon?"
La Folia nodded.
"When I was a young girl I summoned him from Hell to make a pact with. Because of that demon, I have been forced to train as if my life depended on it as it could very well eat my soul. However, I am thankful for him as he kept me from becoming-"
"La Folia."
Grayfia knew she was going to say, from becoming you so she stopped it. La Folia sighed as even her mother spoiled Rias. Rias sighed as she ate some food.
"You were going to say from becoming me right?"
Vander nodded.
"That is exactly what she was going to say. Nobles are born with talent, but that talent is covered up with their own advantage. I guess her demon kept her from becoming just like every other noble."
Zeoticus nodded as Vader had a point.
"It is true that we nobles' own wealth is often a weakness, but it can be a strength as well."
Vander knew that was true as a talented commoner might struggle to grow without wealth.
"That is true. Money can buy weapons, resources, people, land, and the like. Even if a talented commoner does his best with money the noble can just use his wealth to grow himself. However, it can be a weakness in the case where they become dependent on that wealth. Take it away and you are left with-"
"Me."
Rias called out again which made Akeno hold her hand.
"I know you are doing this for her sake, but Vander can't you be a bit nicer."
Vander sighed as they still did not get it.
"That is me being nice. It is better she learns now than when Riser forces her onto his bed."
Venelana's aura surged filling the whole room to the brim which made them all look at her. La Folia, Vander, and Naerdeath kept eating while Rias, Akeno, Kiba, and Koneko shook a little.
"Please, let's just enjoy our meal. Let's not talk about this now."
Vander nodded as Naerdeath gave him a large mug of mead. He started to drink the strong alcohol as Dwarven mead was many times stronger than human Everclear. That was still considered weak too.
"Sure. That is for the best."
Ripper grabbed a big fish from Vander's plate which Vander did not mind. He could just get more anyway. Naerdeath glanced around as she saw that Rias and her servants were shaking.
She didn't say it, but she thought they were weak just like Vander and La Folia did. She went back to eating and drinking along with La Folia and Vander. Ripper even grabbed her mug and started to drink a bit from it.
Vander was worried as a drunk, an evil dinosaur was not good. As for Naerdeath, she was more than happy to share her alcohol.
"Glad Ripper and Vander like some dwarven drinks."
Vander stood up as he finished many different dishes and was full.
"I will be waiting outside. I think it is time to return to the human world."
La Folia wiped her mouth and stood up.
"Yes, I have everything of importance in my spatial ring."
Naerdeath stood up as well as her spatial neckless had everything of value to her.
"Same here."
Ripper handed the mug to Naerdeath who stored it away. The four of them left Rias, her parents, and servants behind. Rias looked at her three servants with a smile.
"You three should go with him. I need to talk to my parents and Grayfia alone."
Akeno held her hand and nodded.
"Don't take too long."
Kiba and Koneko knew she was sad, but they knew she did not want to say anything about it.
"Alright, Rias."
They also left leaving just Zeoticus, Venalana, and Grayfia with Rias. Grayfia sighed as her daughter was always the most unnoble of the new generation. She knew that demon had pushed her daughter to improve herself as her life depended on it, but she expected others to do the same.
She looked down on those who did not train as hard as her and her cousin Sairaorg as lazy.
"I am sorry about my daughter."
Zeoticus shook his head.
"I think there is some truth to their words, but I think they go about it the wrong way."
Venelana looked at Rias who was looking down.
"Rias-"
She raised her hand to stop her mother.
"They have always said the truth really. I remember when La Folia first made that demon contract and how she trained every day. Her muscles screaming in pain, her brain hurting from casting spells over and over again.
How sleep-deprived she was from reading spell books and grimoires all night. She did everything to get stronger and I was too weak to do the same. I might have been her if I had the determination to make a contract with a demon, but I didn't."
She sighed as she got up.
"I might not have had that my whole life if not for this thing with Riser, but I am glad it happens now. I can start to change myself for the better, not because of Riser, but thanks to him. Thank you, but I need to go."
She held her head high as she walked out the door with an extra hop to her step. When she was gone, Zeotics and Venelana smiled at her newfound determination. As a father, he was glad that she had that now.
"She just might be able to change her fate."
Venelana looked at him with a small smile.
"You support this?"
He nodded.
"If she can beat him I will have to accept that. I can say she will be a better heir if she can gain the determination that La Folia has. There is a reason I choose Rias over La Folia to be head of the family. Her heart."
Grayfia knew what they meant.
"La Folia is my daughter, but her heart is closed off to most people. I have seen it myself that while she is kind to others, she does not accept people into her heart. She does not even have friends except for Sairaorg. Vander and La Folia are cut from the same cloth so to say."
---
While they spoke, Vander, was surrounded by everyone as he waited for Rias. Naerdeath was hugging Ripper who liked her a lot as she fed him.
"He is so precious."
Kiba, Koneko, and Akeno did not want to believe that was the same creature that tormented them. They wanted to call out to her, but Ripper was scary for them. Vander patted Ripper on his neck she loved him too.
"He really is."
La Folia hugged him too which he allowed as he got to drink dragon blood because of her.
"He is so warm."
While they made Ripper happy at being spoiled Rias came outside.
"Sorry for keeping you. We can go back now."
Vander nodded.
"Alright then."
A large teleport circle appeared under their feet which teleported them in a blood-red flash of fire. That was the effect of Infernity on the demonic circle, but that was all. They appeared in the Occult research club in a flash.
Rias smiled that they were back.
"It's nice to be back so soon."
Koneko went to get her cookie stash while Kiba decided to leave to train on his own. He realized that Ripper did teach him something. If his legs were broken he was as good as useless. He needed to be faster and he needed stronger legs to make sure they could keep up with that speed.
"I will head out now. I have something to get done."
Rias waved him goodbye.
"Take care."
"Yes, Rias."
Akeno decided to leave as well.
"I have to go Rias. There is something I must do."
She thought back to Vander's words and knew they were true.
'If you can't even use it in a life or death situation what good are you in one?'
It was a simple question, but it was true. She could have used it in during the dangers she faced in her life, but she just didn't. If she had just used her Fallen Angel powers while she was on the run she could have avoided so many of them.
When she was gone, Koneko put down her cookies as she learned something too.
"I have to go too."
Rias smiled as the extreme training with Vander paid off. They were all extra motivated to train.
"They are right. I also have to train. See you in school tomorrow."
Vander, La Folia, and Naerdeath waved goodbye as they all had training to do. Vander looked at the two girls with him as he was going to go home.
"Well, let's go see what your grandparents did to make my new mansion."
She was also curious to look at it.
"I just know they did not cheap out."
Naerdeath hoped they had a blacksmithing room for her.
"Do you think they added a workshop?"
Vander shrugged.
"If they didn't I will just go back and ask for one. Let's go."
He placed Ripper back in the familiar space and teleported them to the location of his old apartment. In a flash of Blood Red fire, they appeared in front of the new mansion which Vander loved the moment he laid eyes on it.
(Image here.)
"IT'S AWESOME!"
La Folia nodded with appreciation.
"Looks super emo, but hey, a guy like you will love that."
Naerdeath whistled when she saw the Gothic style of the house.
"I like it. Let's go inside."
When Vander opened the front door a line of maids and butlers were waiting. In front of them was a beautiful young maid with bright red eyes and white hair. She bowed to Vander with a neutral expression.
"Greetings sir, my name is Nerezza. I am the head maid in charge of the management of your home."
Vander nodded.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Vander, no last name though."
It is a pleasure, sir. Lady Gremory, good to see you again. Miss Wildoroar, it is good to meet you as well. If you need anything just let me know."
Naerdeath instantly asked about her workshop.
"Is there a workshop for me to set up my tools?"
From Nerezza's shadow emerged a small bat.
"Of course, you can follow my familiar to the location."
"Great."
She went off to follow the bat as she needed to make sure the workshop was up to standard. La Folia had her own question.
"Can I get someone to lead me to my
Another bat emerged from Nerezza's shadow that led La Folia to her room. Vander looked at this woman with a raised eyebrow.
"You're a vampire?"
"Half Vampire sir. My Vampire Nole father had an affair with a Noble Devil lady resulting in my birth. The Gremory family took me in when no one else would."
Vander nodded as he began to walk into the house to explore. She followed behind him as she explained something.
"Sir, I shall lead you around the mansion."
"Thank you kindly. How did you get chosen as head maid?"
"I volunteered as I owe a lot to lady Venelana. When she spoke about the first peerage member of Lady Grayfia I decided to volunteer. I am not forced to do anything and I could always leave if needed."
He hummed in agreement.
"Thank you in advance."
"It is my pleasure."
She led Vander around the entire mansion which took a few hours, but Vander was happy to explore his home. During that time he got to know the Vampire a little and found she was only 22.
All the while she kept trying to bring something up but did not know how to do it. Vander never interrupted her, but she just had no clue how to bring this up without sounding weird. At the end of the tour, Vander stopped at the entrance of his room.
"Thank you for the tour. We can part here."
"SIR!"
He turned around to notice she finally got the courage to say it.
"What is it?"
"Well, as I am a Vampire I can actually do a Blood contract when serving someone. I wanted to ask if you would be willing to do one with me. This way you can be guaranteed I will never betray you and I will be able to better serve as a maid."
Vander thought about it.
"How does this benefit you?"
"I can tell from your smell that your blood alone is worth it. I will be your maid as long as our contract lasts which can be broken if needed."
Vander had some questions.
"This pact, it is not a slave one right?"
She shook her head.
"No. It's not even a servant pact. All it is, is an agreement between two people to make sure betrayal does not happen?"
"Alright, do not tell a soul about anything you see about me."
She nodded.
"Yes sir."
Vander bit his finger with his canine and drew blood. He held his hand and dripped a single drop of blood on her palm. She focused on his blood as she made sure to agree to his demand to not tell a single person about what she learned about Vander.
She drank the drop of blood and activated the blood pact. Vander felt a tether to Nerezza while she felt the overwhelming power in Vander's blood. As the blood was used for the pact she did not get to use even a bit of its power for nefarious reasons.
She was a bit disappointed, but Vander had entered his room before she could say anything else. She sighed disappointed but left it at that. When Vander entered the room he had to say that even his room was great.
Ripper and Toxin appeared next to him and both jumped on the giant bed which was even softer than the Underworld bed.
"We will live like kings Ripper. You as well Toxin."
Toxin and Ripper were around the same size, but even they did not fill up the bed. Vander jumped on the bed as well as he looked at the ceiling of his room. It was actually quite high and wide that he felt he needed to decorate it a bit more.
"That can wait, but I will have to take Devil pacts soon. I also have to train with my gauntlets and halberd, so I guess I will also tame more of my familiars."
He closed his eyes and entered his soul scape to get to work. The faster he got this done the better his strength would be.
