Simultaneously, Xia Wei remained unresponsive to Dai Qing's question, his dark magenta eyes fixated on her tearful countenance. Nonetheless, her inquiry continued to reverberate within his mind.

"Why? Did you ask why? Well..." With that thought lingering, Xia Wei settled himself on the floor, positioning himself at eye level with Dai Qing.

"Miss Dai, what if I were to divulge that your sect has been secretly plotting my demise, despite their outwardly humble and polite demeanor? It was all a charade, and my loyal servants have unearthed the evidence. Would you believe such a revelation?"

As Xia Wei uttered these words, he discerned a momentary freeze in Dai Qing's expression. Her sobs ceased, and she gradually raised her head to meet his gaze. Her cherry lips quivered, while myriad thoughts flitted through her eyes like fleeting shadows.
