"Speak now. This is your chance to explain yourselves," Xia Wei rose from the broken bed, abandoning its discomfort to settle on the floor near the window. He averted his gaze and observed the world outside, its slow movements hinting at the obliviousness to recent events.

The sky retained its brightness, concealing the moon while beckoning forth unsuspecting prey. "Be concise and straightforward before I sever your heads," Xia Wei reminded them, suspicion intertwining with his words. It appeared their actions had been marked by either negligence or devious schemes.

Recollections surged within him—the Guardians' lone formation, the deliberate administration of the Soul Formation pill when he teetered on the brink of death, and their passive observation of his encounter with the deity called Lei or whatever they called him. All of this left him dissatisfied with their conduct.
