"Well, for one thing, it's more rhythm-oriented," Brie said. "The rhythms are often more complex and syncopated. And the melodies are often more bluesy and soulful."

"I can definitely hear that," I said.

"Another thing that sets hard bop apart is the use of improvisation," Brie said. "In hard bop, the musicians are free to improvise their solos, which gives the music a lot of energy and excitement."

"That sounds really cool," I said.

"It is," Brie said. "And it's one of the things that makes hard bop such a great genre of music."

I nodded, as we continued driving. "Wanna eat something?" she asked. I looked around, seeing only trees flashing every second. "Where?" I asked. "In the trees?"

"No, when do we find a little restaurant, you know?" she said. "Listen, that plane exploded alright? I don't know why, but it did. Coincidence, I guess."
