Just Run

Jonathan quickly rose up from the bed in anger as his rest had been interrupted so suddenly but when he opened his eyes he was surprised to see a screen in front of his bed with The Watcher on it.

"Good morning everyone or at least you think it is! Your resting period has now ended and the second game will begin shortly. Everyone needs to make their way to the door you originally came through in the next 10 minutes or you know what happens!" The Watcher said before the screen disappeared like it always does.

'What a jerk.' Jonathan thought in his mind as he threw a pillow where The Watcher previously was and forced himself out of bed. It felt like he hadn't even been asleep 10 minutes but it was already time for another game. Jonathan would have questioned whether they had truly been given enough time to sleep or not but it was quickly proven that he had more than by Angela when Jonathan walked into the living room.

"What happened to you?!" Jonathan said in shock as he saw Angela wiping her eyes awake since she had fallen asleep on the couch. Deep bags were found under her eyes showing just how long she had stayed up the night before.

"The snacks were so good. I had to finish them all." Angela admitted as she got up from the couch and began making her way toward the door.

'Unbelievable.' Jonathan thought as he walked toward the door as well. Right as he and Angela were about to open the door the rest of the group that slept in the cabin arrived. Derek had slight bags under his eyes as well but not nearly as bad as Angela while Sam looked as normal as ever and Tim had a blissful expression on his face showing how much he enjoyed the comfort of the bed during his sleep.

With no one left to show up Jonathan and the rest made their way out of the cabin and toward the door that originally led them to the first game. Everyone else in the 99 had already gathered at the door but when they saw Jonathan and the rest arrive they quickly crowded them with barrages of questions.

"What was in the cabin?"

"Was there more food?!"

"Was there a bed?!"

"Did you meet The Watcher in there?!"

Many random questions were hurled toward the group with some being reasonable and other being downright ridiculous. It was so bad that both Angela and Sam shook their heads refusing to answer any of the questions. Tim and Derek on the other hand had no issue informing those around them just how great the cabin truly was.

"I got to sleep in the most comfortable bed you could ever imagine! There were pillows, soft blankets, and there was even a massaging feature on the side of the bed!" Tim said immediately gaining multiple looks of jealousy and awe while also informing Jonathan of new information.

'I didn't know there was a massage feature!' Jonathan screamed in his mind at the missed opportunity.

Derek only furthered the jealous looks and even turned some into pure hatred, "You should have seen how much food we had! There was so much we didn't even know what to do with it all! I ate so much my stomach is still bloated!" Derek said rubbing his stomach in happiness which made the glares and stares he was getting only increase with intensity but he seemed to be none the wiser about what he was doing.

Some people began looking at Jonathan for some sort of explanation of his experience but he just shook his head refusing to tell them even a single part about what he had gone through since he had entered. If he told them how fantastic it was and how it helped him so much then only hate and anger would be sent his way like Tim and Derek.

When Jonathan refused to tell anything many people were a little annoyed but at the same time relieved that Jonathan was going to keep it to himself and not brag straight in their faces like both Tim and Derek were unconsciously doing.

Before anyone could say anything to stop them or warn them The Watcher popped up once more but this time with a screen floating right above the door to the original room, "When you enter this door you will be brought to your next challenge. The cabin is now back up for grabs but the requirement will be kept a secret until the end of the game, more will be explained after entering." The Watcher said before disappearing.

The group was left slightly stunned at The Watcher's constant appearance and disappearance but nonetheless the person at the front opened the door thinking that it would lead back to the original game or platform but much to the surprise of everyone this was not the case at all.

Once the door was opened the only thing that was able to be seen was a long winding street with buildings on either side of the road. Jonathan was one of the lucky few who were at the front after he maneuvered his way forward while The Watcher talked and one of the first that got a glance at the next game. It blew his mind that the door that originally had such a long and void-filled path was now a long and winding path with tons of buildings. It looked like a genuine city street if not for the fact there were no other people or even a single sound in the place.

"How did they manage to do this?!" Someone said in confusion as they looked all around them at the buildings. Jonathan couldn't agree more but he couldn't dwell on it since The Watcher appeared once more.

"Welcome everyone to your second game in the Midnight Games. This game, similar to all the other ones, will be quite simple. All you need to do is make it to the end of this street and you will have passed the game. In addition to this you will have 1 hour to make it to the end otherwise your suit will be triggered and you will be killed immediately." The Watcher said leaving some people slightly confused while Jonathan noted the fact that The Watcher called it the Midnight Games.
