For a second, Gus thought that he saw the Shenia pause after being ordered forward. Whether he had seen something or whether it had just been his imagination, it quickly became unimportant as they began to head up the stairs in his direction.
It wasn't just the stairs that they ran up, either. As they approached, Gus saw dozens of the Shenia advancing up the sides of the structure, climbing up the walls of the surfaces as easily as someone with professional equipment.
In their hands they wielded melee weapons. They were not the clubs that Gus was somewhat familiar with, instead they carried an assortment of pickaxes and other mining tools.
'So they were down here mining for something. It's not just the drills that they're using? But why use these instead of the Bru'uka? That seems horribly inefficient. Not that I should care.'
