Chapter 58

My shopping date is ongoing. I have infiltrated the city. Just kidding. Aura paid the entry fee. So they take entry fees as well.

It was a big silver coin. The size of my palm.

"Aura, how much is that coin worth?"

The abnormal size kinda made me curious. We had coins too but not that big.

"That is one big sliver. It's worth 10 silver coins. The entry fee is 5 silver per person so it covered for the both of us." (Aura)

"Money is important. But how do you have money if you don't leave the cave?"

"How to say….I make them." (Aura)

So she can make money. The gatekeeper didn't make a fuss so it was probably real. Now then, let's go forth. I asked Aura for the name of this city. But I can't catch it.

It is always masked with a noise. Maybe because I don't actually know the name. It's only a dream after all. My dream. So it can't show me something I don't know.

It's probably just a possible future. Nothing is set in stone after all.

"Aura, how about we go shopping for clothes? I want to see the current trend of this place."

It's probably best to blend in first. What I and Aura are wearing is sticking out like sore thumb. Better blend in or we might be targeted.

We both entered a shop. It had a decent look and the collection looked nice to me. But there weren't too many people in the shop.

"Welcome."

A female clerk gave us a bow and greeted us. I omit her appearance and stuff but there is one thing.

She gave us an appraising look and smirked. Do we look poor?

Let's not dwell on that.

"Aura, let's try some out first."

"Yeah. They look good too." (Aura)

We tried out a few of the clothes. Being a beauty, Aura looked nice in anything. But I don't understand the women's fashion. So I totally left the choice up to Aura.

In the end, Aura chose a one piece dress. It made her look young but her looks hadn't changed at all. So it really didn't matter.

I chose what looked like a medieval style suit. It was stuffy like it was for the upper class. And one set of casual clothing. It's not enough if I just have a formal wear.

We went to the reception to pay. The clerk just showed her face when we entered but she wasn't seen again. So we went to the reception to to find her.

And she was there. She smiled at us and packed the clothes we were holding.

"It all comes to a grand total of one big gold coin."

"Here."

Aura puts a big shiny gold coin on the tray. The clerk is kinda surprised at first but proceeds to receive it.

"Thank you for your patronage."

We took our clothes and left.

"Aura, why was the clerk so surprised?"

"She probably didn't expect us to actually buy anything from that shop. It was a shop that caters to the upper class people. Not many Demi-humans are actually rich and you don't look rich either. It's a common concept." (Aura)

"Aahhh…the class discrimination. I can't say I like it but it's instinct. Happens naturally, I guess. How much is that one big gold worth?"

"10 big silver or 100 silver coin. It's a lot. A middle class family can live care-freely for a few months with one big gold coin. It only costs them about 2 big silver to live on for a month." (Aura)

"I don't have a definite idea. But let's go and eat something first. I am starving."

"So shall we eat? It's almost lunchtime anyway. What will you have?" (Aura)

"Unsophisticated commoner food. Cheap and tasty. Anything you recommend?"

"Then a tavern or a bar would be a good choice. Let's go to the tavern beside the adventurers guild. It's cheap but tasty." (Aura)

"Thank you. But aren't we supposed to be on a date?"

"We are." (Aura)

"Shouldn't we go to a fancy restaurant and have some overly fancy food and premium alcohol? Then go to a play or something and then go see the sunset?"

"That's an awfully accurate date plan if you're on a date with someone of the upper class. Don't worry, I am enjoying it. The time we spend is more important than those." (Aura)

"...Aura, let's go to the chapel as well. We should really get married."

"Again with your jokes. Let's go." (Aura)

She did reprimand me but judging from her ears and face, she simply became interested. When did my berserker bear become so cute?!!!

But food comes first. I need the sustenance or this body will collapse on its own.

"Aura, I haven't met Hazel's child yet."

"Ahh…Hazel has a son and a daughter. They are twins. Her son is currently the court mage. Fay specially hired him because of his talents. And her daughter is an academy instructor. She is a first rate adventurer. She was scouted by the academy to teach about adventuring." (Aura)

"They sure have gone up. I am happy for Hazel that she could have normal life."

"That's because she forgot everything about us. She herself knows that she was a dog but how she came here is a mystery to her. She tends not to dwell on it too much. And if she were to remember everything again, terrible things would happen." (Aura)

"No need to tell me. She would probably murder me a few times. Let's not talk about it here. See, we are at the tavern. Let's go."

"Sure but that is a subject we need to clarify. She is staring to have doubts which will be disastrous if left like that." (Aura)

Aura gives me a smirk. She is totally enjoying it because I am the one who will be in a pickle. Let's stuff my face first and think about it later.
