Chapter 15 - Face-Off

"My Lady, you look so pretty," Lydia said, placing the moonlight carnations on my hair. I took a look at my lilac gown in the mirror. I was not used to heavy pieces of jewelry. However, I had to appear as the most elegant woman to defeat Lady Evelyn.

I sighed. I was feeling like a mere aristocrat, striving to be the King's favorite wife. Why do I have to prove myself when I am already his wife?- I muttered, clenching the sides of my gown.

"My Lady, it will be wrenched," Lydia said concernedly, noticing. I scrunched my nose in disgust. I required some fresh air. Xavier was behaving unusually since Edrik started schooling me with the harp.

I glanced outside the castle wall from my balcony.

The entire palace area had worn a festive look. Wolves and pack leaders from different territories had already assembled. The castle section that would remain quiet always was now overflowed with various noises.
