"He's the alpha king…." Eloise froze. "You mean THE alpha king. The one mentioned in the legends. The one who was supposed to be the ruler of all three races,"
"Only two. In his perfect kingdom, only humans and werewolves are allowed…" he bitterly whispered. "All vampires are wiped out. The only ones living are also in danger because this asshole decided to kidnap them…. Can you really hex him?" he looked at her with anticipation.
Hexes are usually like small curses placed on a person by the witches. It was powerful and it could easily kill or hurt a person badly. he had only heard of a few hands full of witches who were capable of hexing someone. it was extremely difficult but very effective.
'This is great… if she hexes him, I can threaten the pack with their alpha king's life. If they don't let go of my brothers or hurt them in any way, I can easily kill of the alpha king….'
This was an extremely dangerous idea. But he was willing to roll with it. After all his initial plan was to kill the alpha king. If by this method he could save his brothers, he would gladly try it.
"Can you hex him?" he asked, once again sensing his mother's silence
"Uh… that…hmm…" she fidgeted with her cup. "I'm not that great at hexing.. never have been. I was only talking about to it cheer you up.. sorry…"
And just like that his villainous plan went into the ditch.
"It's okay….. I can try to deal with it on my own. Besides hexing, the alpha king might incite the hatred of the werewolves towards witches…the world doesn't need another war," he mumbled, taking a sip of the hot beverage.
Hot chocolate dribbled down his throat, heating up his whole body.
It tasted so good. After six months of only eating crocodile meat, everything tasted good.
"I'm so sorry…" his mum apologized, grabbing onto his hand. "' if I can do anything I will do it in a heartbeat…."
He gulped it down. "It's okay….What can you do anyway? You are in the past and I am in the future… .."
Stifling silence filling the room.
"Hmm why don't we watch television? I got a new set just a few days ago."
His mum switched on the small TV. The very famous movie Terminator was running.
Suddenly he chuckled, thinking of a certain scene. "You know, if I had a machine gun I will just go around shooting everyone in sight like the terminator. I will tie down that alpha king and make him scream until he lets go of my friends,"
His mum's expression shifted. "Weapons you say… maybe that I can arrange…."
"You can?!"
"I can." She proudly puffed up her chest. "It's very simple. I'll bury them and you'll find it in your time,"
Nicolai's smile went away. He lived thousand years into the future. Anything buried would not survive for that long. "it would rust and fall apart…" he sighed.
"No no. I have a special spell." She ran to the fireplace and brought out a worn-out brown leather book.
He gasped out loud. "I've seen that book! It was in dad's place!"
"This grimoire?... you've seen it....." she worriedly looked at him.
"Did I say something wrong.. is it weird I saw that book?"
"No.. it's just that this book can't be passed onto another unless and until the owner..." she took a deep breath. "You talk as if I'm not a part of your future. Last time as well… this time as well… I… did something happen to me at that time,"
Nicolai froze. His mouth opened and closed, but no words escaped. 'How can I tell her that she died in an accident… wait if I tell would she would be able to escape that catastrophe…'
"you actually died… on a snowy evening dad and you were on the way to….."
She swiftly closed his mouth. "Forget I asked,"
"Mum you need to know this,"'
"No! I don't need to know this. This will change the future Nicolai. I don't want to know this.. Even if I'm dead its… it's okay…. it's fine… please never ever tell me how I died." She calmly flipped through the grimoire. "ah here it is. The time conservation spell. Back then vampires used to hire witches to cast this spell on their special sleep capsules to help them age slower. It can definitely be of help with our weapons,"
He understood that she was subtly trying to change the subject. ".. But mum you died.."'
"Don't tell me Nico! Bad boy! You can kill me if you tell me."
"What?"
"If you reveal my manner of death, then I might die way earlier. Its how time works. If you change something time tries to balance it by taking a life. It's very unpredictable and dangerous. So don't divulge any information about my future or your father's future."'
"What about mine.. Can I talk about that?"
"If it's something vague and non descriptive of dates I won't figure it out…" she took out an iron box from under the sofa and started towards the door. "Coming with me to the pack?"
"No…"
"Then wait here. Don't go anywhere and if your dad drops by don't talk to him Please… that man is an ass. He will kill anyone and everyone who comes in his path."
"Dad's not like that," he defended him.
"That's in your time. In my time he is a royal ass. And let me tell you, I have a difficult time taming that pale ass." She closed the door to the house.
Nico was left all alone in the small cottage. He dwindled with his thumb as he counted his time.
An hour later his mum came back, patting her hand clean. Her whole form was dusted with a layer of snow and dirt. "It's done. You can find your weapons on the Castle grounds. Dig deep. I carved out a small star deeply in the wall. The weapons are buried about fifteen feet below in the small basement. The deeper you bury it, the higher the possibility of the spell working perfectly,"
Nico shot up. in his time the castle was no more but the basement still exited. If his mum did bury weapons in there then he might have a fighting chance against the alpha king.
"mum.. Thank you,"' he hugged her tightly.
She gently patted his back. "Anything for you, kid…"
Nico glanced at his hands in shock. It was starting to disappear.
His mu suddenly grabbed his disappearing wrist. "Nico… you must remember. I will always love you. You are my beloved son… so… even when I'm not there… you have to remember that I love you with all my heart. The grimoire you saw is our family heirloom. It only appears in on to the chosen witch of the family line. It has only one owner… after me, it must be passed on to you….You were chosen by the sun goddess dear. You have a lot of potential. Use it well,"
"Mum… I.. I don't want to leave… I don't want to go back.. You don't exist..Dad doesn't exist… please.. Can I stay here.. Please…" he begged softly.
With tear filled eyes, his mum pinched his cheeks. "'you silly boy… one cannot live in the past… you must live on in hopes that the future would be bright… my dear Nico.. go and save your dear friends. Mum will be rooting for you."
Nico opened his eyes peering at the dark sky once again. The stars were shining so beautifully. The trees were happily swaying in the wind..
He was back to the present…
The present that looked so bleed and dull and…
"Wait the weapons…" he swiftly ran to the river bed. In time the river bed had moved closer to the castle grounds. His mother said she buried the weapons in the basement about fifteen feet below.
He jumped into the river and started to search for the mark his mum had left behind. It was still there.
'We have hope… now all we have to do is dig it out…'
That's; exactly what he did. Taking ten-minute intervals, he submerged himself into the slightly cooling river and started to dig.
After a whole night of digging, he pulled out that familiar metal box.
"Nico.. What is that.." Raven sleepily whispered.
"Our hope…."
