Priestess

Chapter 23 – Priestess

"System! I want to enter the eternal coffin!"

[Ding! The host must pay 10000 ink drops to enter the eternal coffin. Ding! The host doesn't have enough ink drops. Denied entry…]

"Arghhh! Ink again!"

Time seemed to slow down. In despair, Jhin watched the claw descended from the heavens.

He realized that even if he summoned the ink soldiers, it would be impossible to block the attack. "F*ck! If I survive this time! I'll surely massacre your entire tribe!"

Jhin felt indignant. He had received an opportunity to make up his past regrets, yet in the blink of an eye, it'll be taken away from him once more. He hadn't returned to his homeland yet! He hadn't met his parents! Learned the truth about his fiancée's betrayal!

"Strength! I need strength!" Intense desire flickered inside Jhin's eyes. The scent of death assaulted his nostrils.

The enormous claw shadow covered his entire being.

In despair, Jhin closed his eyes and mutters, "If only I have the time…"

He braced himself from his impending death.

However, even after waiting for a while, nothing happened. Confused, Jhin slowly opened his eyes, only to realize that the wolf's attack was nowhere to be found.

"Humph!"

Suddenly, a cold snort descended from the heavens. Tracing the source of the snort, Jhin saw a shocking scene. The descending claw from earlier had long changed trajectory. It was moving towards the sky, slicing the ashen clouds on its path.

With the clouds obliterated, the three moons appeared in the view.

They started cascading their light in sync, illuminating a lithe figure descending from the heavens. Her long black hair fluttered about. Her loose black robe danced, occasionally revealing the curves underneath.

"To lay your hand on my people, are you courting death?" The figure shouted. Her ethereal voice echoed in everyone's ears.

"It's the priestess!" Rafael exclaimed. Relief was evident from his voice. "I didn't expect for the priestess to be this strong!"

The priestess, the head of the church of death in the Blackrock Shelter was known for her mysteriousness. Aside from the fact that she never ages even after hundreds of years. She was also known for her extreme healing capability.

This is the first that Rafael witnesses her strength. And it left awestruck.

"You are?" the towering berserk wolf stared at the priestess. "Are you the one who commanded these people to create a ruckus on my territory?"

"That's right! It's me!" The priestess hovered in the air, looking at the ground as though everything were ants before her.

"Audacious!" The berserk wolf roared before dashing towards the priestess. Wind coalesced around its claw as it attacked the priestess. This time, the terrifying pressure exuded by the claw was tens of times greater than the wolf's first attack.

"Imbecile!" Seeing the attack, the priestess snorted. Then she plucked a strand of her hair and threw it to the incoming claw.

The hair was enveloped by a sharp freezing black light. It fluttered in the air, like a feather falling in the wind.

Bam!

The claw and the hair collided.

But, instead of being torn into pieces, the strand of hair continues falling while the claw. No! Not just the claw, but the towering wolf itself fell into the ground like a meteor.

"This…"

Rafael stared at the scene in daze. He was shocked and amazed of the priestess' strength. He couldn't help but looked at the priestess in awe.

At this moment, her cold gaze was focused on the depths of the forest.

Suddenly, the trees started rustling. Then…

"For a Death Emissary to bully the young, do you really want to challenge the prestige of the forest?" A booming voice sounded. In a blink of an eye, a colossal wolf appeared in the view. Its fur was ashen red with white stripes decorating it.

"Challenge? I'm too busy for that!" The priestess said in disdain. Her ethereal voice echoed in the surrounding. "I'm just here to receive my people."

"Hmph! I don't care what you've come here for! However, since you have provoked the forest, make sure your shelter wouldn't get annihilated by us!" The voice sounded again. "Children! Return to the forest!"

With such command, the berserk wolves on the ground hurried towards the forest. Their movement caused the wind to stir.

"But first of all, allow me to exchange a blow to the guest!" the voice sounded again. With a flash, a white silhouette flew out from the colossal wolf's head. As though teleporting, it arrived in front of the priestess and…

Boom!

A deafening explosion occur as the priestess took a step backward. Her gaze fixed at the small white wolf standing in front of her.

At this moment, the white wolf has some blood dripping from its mouth. It smiled at the priestess, "You're indeed an emissary, to have such strength despite being a few centuries old."

Instead of replying, the priestess coldly glared at the creature.

Under her gaze, the white wolf snickered before saying, "I hope you won't interfere with my children when they lay siege on your shelter a week from now!"

With another flash, the white wolf returned to the colossal wolf's head. "Let's go!"

"Return to the shelter at once!" The priestess looked at the soldiers, then she sent Jhin a meaningful glance before vanishing from sight.

Leaving the devastating crater on the ground with the half-dead wolf at the center.

"Yes Priestess!" The soldiers prostrated on the ground. Awe and respect filled their eyes.

"System! Restore the three ink soldiers." Jhin said. He stared at the wolf in the crater and hesitated. Eventually, he shook his head and recollected the ink soldiers.

Killing the wolf would indeed reap him with more ink drops but after recollecting the scene earlier, Jhin decided to not act rashly. What if a new wolf of such power returned and massacre them.

"Everyone! The reinforcement is on the way! All of you should relax for now!" Captain Mon said as he gazed at the frightened crowd. Just like the others, his entire body was drenched in cold sweat.

The battle earlier made them realized how insignificant their existence under the presence of a powerhouse. Just the aftermath of the battle had left them with wobbly legs.

Hearing the captain's voice, Jhin couldn't help but reevaluate himself. First, he was turned into someone's slave. Now, he almost died. If not for the priestess' timing appearance, he would've died.

With such close death experience, Jhin felt a sense of urgency.
