Aftermath: Part Two

Esme remained in the graveyard as the blue skies grew dark and stormy while she stared between the two graves marked only days between deaths. Gabriel tried many times to take her back to the penthouse, but she refused. Her mate would never force her, though she could feel his patience thinning and knew he would soon carry her back. She would not get ill from standing in the cold, but Gabriel feared it either way. 

The only reason she still remained was because of the thoughts cascading in her mind. On one side of the path was her mother and the other her friend; in only a matter of days, both were dead, and her bestie was long gone. There was one thing now left to do before she could officially live the rest of her life peacefully with Gabriel.

Esme flicked her gaze to the warlock and back to Gabriel. She had sent their men away earlier, and the she-wolf had a sneaky suspicion Einar was there for other reasons.
