Dare I Ask?

Suhasini got in the car with Nihaal and awkwardly looked at Mrs. Shrivastav who had insisted on coming to the car to see them off. Suhasini had kept quiet and avoided meeting Mrs. Shrivastav’s gaze after she had made a suggestion about the certainty of Nihaal being a good husband if he gave it another chance. Suhasini felt that somehow Mrs. Shrivastav had found out about her true intentions behind her visit. She wasn’t sure how but the smile on Mrs. Shrivastav’s face told her that the woman read right through Suhasini. She felt transparent and it made her stomach flutter. Suhasini had felt a great deal of relief when one of the servants had knocked on the door, it was the distraction she had been hoping for. But as soon as the servant had stepped inside the morning room and announced that Nihaal has paid Mrs. Shrivastav a visit, Suhasini’s relief had dissipated.
