“You good to go?” Jamie asked.
Nick picked up his gun from its case sitting on the roof of Jamie’s car. He checked the magazine and loaded one into the chamber.
“I am now,” he said, tucking it into the waistband of his jeans.
“Good,” Jamie grunted. “Concentrate on getting Kathy out. You see anything wrong or have a problem, call us in.”
“I can do that.”
Getting Kathy out wouldn’t be the problem. To Nick, it was trying to find her at all. Pendery Sports Park was a big place, and it spread across several acres. How were they going to find her in all this?
“Nick.” Daniel beckoned Nick over, holding up his cell phone. “I’ve had a quick look at the park area. There is a sports hall to the south-east side just beyond the trees. It was evacuated on Monday because of a suspected asbestos problem in the basement.”
On Monday. Around the time when Kathy was taken. Nick didn’t believe in coincidences.
“You think I should start there.”
