“Did she mean what I think she meant?” Sharon was dumbfounded.

“Sounds like it. Lou seems to know everything about everyone. She knew all about me and I hadn’t been here ten minutes.” Cam smiled. “You’ll do okay. Just don’t let anyone push you around.”

As she said it, Cameron caught someone staring at her from across the room. It was a dark-skinned woman with intense black eyes and close-cropped hair. Cam recognized her at once—Janet Lacey. She had put this woman in prison three years ago for armed robbery. Cam remembered how this woman had looked at her with hate seething in her eyes at the trial. Cam made a mental note to steer clear of her. This could be trouble she didn’t want.
