Chapter 44

“Baby, I’m a little bit tired so if you don’t mind, I’m going to head home,” Erica said, walking up. Over her shoulder, I saw one of my sorority sisters so taking that as my cue to exit the conversation, I slipped away.

I stayed at the club for about an hour more, posing for pictures, and enjoying being around like-minded people. I had been a member of my sorority for six years and while being a member on the graduate level is mostly about community service and fundraisers, it feels good sometimes to revert to a mindset like the one I had in college when everything was so simple.

Driving home, I reflected on the good time I had at the event and mulled over an invitation to brunch from my frat brother Jerome. It had been a minute since I had been out on a date and I do so enjoy Irregardless’ food so I figured why not.
