CH1 (231), An Elder’s Consideration

Four weeks before the start of the new academic year, in a brightly lit room, not all that secret to the rest of the world, since it was inside the Johto Headquarters of the Aura Guardians Order, 36 non-veiled individuals met to discuss important events that had happened within the borders of their continent during the last 18 months.

Six of those 36 people were also part of the current annual global council, so they had to sit through 3 council sessions considering that the continental council took place semi-annually. The regional council was not included in this, since all of them had to suffer through that one.

'All for the sake of humanity and the future generation,' was what Mr. Cameron thought while looking at his fellow elders of the order.

They began discussing important events that happened since their last meeting at the start of the year like the emergence of a Grand Master Aura Guardian from the Orange Archipelago.

The emergence of a master-class trainer and the equivalent was always a happy occasion for everyone. Well, as long as it was not a criminal. Still, even that was still acceptable since even criminals knew that certain limits were not to be crossed.

Terrorists on the other hand had no such limits and any such situation was a catastrophe for humanity. That was also why they dealt with any Master and Champion-class terrorists as soon as they reared their heads unlike those at and below the Elite class.

No one wanted a repeat of the Lunatic's Tsunami Event that happened 486 years ago. Where a single lunatic that managed to reach the master class went out to the sea and infiltrated the territory of one of the overlords of the sea close to the northern eastern continent, a Giant palladium-stage Tentacruel.

The terrorist then destroyed part of the territory and massacred part of the overlord's underlings before injuring some. He then began dragging them along the bottom of the ocean towards the continent, leaving a blood trail behind in a clear act of provocation.

The terrorist died at the hands of the overlord who attacked him for his disrespect, but he managed to make it close enough to the coast that the overlord decided that they had something to do with the attack as well, so it decided to teach us, landlubbers, a lesson by flooding the coast and attacking the coastal cities.

The tsunami came first and was followed by the overlord's subordinates. Two of the hidden legendary-class trainers had to step out to repel the Tentacruel, and that's all they managed to do.

However, by the time they managed to do that 5 Coastal Cities were destroyed along with tens of towns and hundreds of villages. Millions died because of the actions of a single lunatic that was strong enough to realize his plans.

Anyway, back to the council session. The reports went on until the younger generation of aura users came up. Everyone talked about promising seeds and their status.

"Say, Cameron, how is that boy you brought up during the annual global council doing?" Angelina, a fellow global council member asked.

"He's doing good. He'll start his second year once the academic year begins. Moreover, he already finished his aura studies, at least those of the secondary education level, so he'll only take part in the regular classes.

Honestly, it's a waste that he can't participate in the tertiary academy classes, but those are the rules and even we can't break them." Cameron told them about Mikail's current situation.

"Well, while that may be true, that does not mean he can't learn new things in his free time while attending the secondary academy. I'm sure you've already considered it, but it would be better if you've made some arrangements to help him grow a little.

We wouldn't want him to stagnate after all." Another councilor/elder returned and everyone around the table nodded in agreement. The topic changed after that and it took another two hours for us to finish the meeting.

Two weeks before the start of the academic year, inside the office of the principal of the Aaron Aura Academy. One could see how the principal and Mr. Cameron were talking about important issues that were relevant for the coming academic year.

After they closed the topic of the incoming first-year students, they began talking about the prospective third years. The principal had a slightly disappointed look when he opened the topic.

"From their files and the teacher evaluations, we can conclude that we most likely will be lucky if one of them manages to qualify for the continental competition at the end of the year. At least, as they are now more is unlikely.

There is Sorrel Sidkara, but just like Mikail Geo last year he can't compete in this year's competition. He'll have to wait until he's an official third-year student.

So, unless some of the prospective third years show themselves to be late bloomers or distinguish themselves in Koetsuji's class, we'll have to expect a less optimal performance during the competitions." The principal admitted and Cameron nodded in acknowledgment.

"We should let the teachers observe their students more carefully so that they can look if any of them show any indication that some greater focus on them or some extra nudges in the right direction could help increase their performance substantially," Cameron added and the principal agreed with him.

"Now about young Mikail. The members of the elder council have shown their interest in little Mikail's progress and situation. He'll only have his regular classes for the next two years since he finished his aura classes.

Does the academy have any plans regarding his education or do you plan to leave it up to him? I'll have to add that the elders, me included, think it would be unforgivable to let him stagnate during these two years." Cameron inquired and the principal smiled before pulling a file out of a drawer.

"We've decided to wait and see what his plans regarding the free time the lack of aura-centric lessons caused were. We'll then act accordingly but what we can do is offer him opportunities to earn academy points, so that he may exchange them for resources and extra lessons.

The missions should help him gain all kinds of experience and will offer us the chance to test him while securing his survival." The principal replied while Mr. Cameron agreed with him.

"The Chief Gardevoir and Gallade praised him after their meeting last year and he gave me a good impression as well during our brief meeting, so I'm willing to talk to the Chief Lucario and Chief Togekiss on his behalf.

That way they might bring out their best descendants if Mikail decides to try his luck with gaining a Riolu or Togepi partner. Honestly, with the number of Pokemon, he has already bonded with I would not be surprised if he tried to get both.

The fact that the little guy managed to help so many of his Pokemon become as strong as they were in the reports of Akisame and from what I have personally seen, on top of improving his own strength as much as he did in both aura and psionics is incredible.

I'm interested to see how he'll develop and if he can keep up the rate of improvement, because if he can then he'll become one of the future pillars of humanity." Cameron said and the principal could feel that he truly thought like that.

"Hmm, that's a good idea," the principal agreed with him, before moving on to the next topic. "There are reports that indicate that there seemed to be some movement among multiple tribes in the surroundings of Rota. We need to send a few scouts out to survey the situation to see how large the movements are and whether they could turn into tides or not."

"I'll arrange it. I'll speak with the military and the royal family so that they could be ready in case of an attack. If the scouts notice that the situation really could end in a horde I'll personally head out to stop it, and if it turns out that someone is instigating an attack on us they will be taken care of as well." Cameron informed the principal.

A week before the start of the academic year Mr. Cameron paid a visit to the Knight Academy. He met the principal, who was an acquaintance of his, and discussed the possibility of one of their charges/students taking part in some of their lessons, specifically ones regarding weapons and their handling.

The principal of the Knight Academy told him that they could agree to that request if he showed an aptitude for weapon handling and the necessary respect for their faculty members along with an acceptable attitude towards the training.

Cameron thanked him before he moved toward the next point on his list. He left the property of the Knight Academy before calling out his Gallade, who teleported him to Sienna City.

There he went to visit the George family. According to the reports he had received the George family seemed to have found out about Mikail's talent and were planning to make a move.

While they were currently not planning any aggressive moves and simply wanted to introduce themselves before enticing Mikail into joining them, Cameron planned to make sure that they were aware that any kind of coercion or aggressive moves toward Mikail would have serious repercussions.

That he was planning to publicly deal with a criminal ring that had made plans to kidnap Mikail's Pokemon would reinforce his warning toward the George family. The criminals were lucky that they were just planning to kidnap the Pokemon without harming Mikail or his family, or he would have disposed of them instead of just taking them into custody.

Two days before the start of the academic year he discreetly went to visit Mikail's house. He checked out the security of their home. The security measures he was checking were the ones for psychic, dark, and ghost types. Seals against things like teleportation, shadow travel, and phasing.

His check showed that there were more than just the standard seals, but that they would repel silver stage individuals at most and that they would send out an alert if they were breached.

He made sure to upgrade the security with the help of his partners. After they were done only individuals at the platinum stage could breach the security and even for them, an alert would be sent out.

Well, if they decided to use brute force to enter the house instead of using the subtle means, then their measure would be useless, but they added that any destruction of certain parts of the house would send out an alert as well.

Once they were done with all changes they left with Mikail and his parents being none the wiser of their visit. The next day Cameron called Burns to his office since he was Mikail's homeroom teacher.

He asked/ordered Burns to ask Mikail about his plans regarding the free time he would have due to the absence of aura lessons. Burns was told to inform him about the result of his conversation with Mikail so that they could adjust their plans according to Mikail's plans.

If the boy was not planning to make use of that extra time productively, they would have to subtly steer him into doing so through missions and offers/opportunities.

While there was always the possibility of Mikail declining their missions and offers, he did not think that would happen since he would be the one to benefit from them. Still, if he did decline they would have to accept it.

They were willing to help him, and give him the chance to be better, but they were not going to force him. If he missed the chance offered to him, then that was his problem, and he would have to deal with his slower progress by himself as a consequence of his actions.
