Chapter 49

I was not looking forward to meeting up with my father at all. I had no idea what to say to him nor did I want to see him. He let mom, Sabrina, and I think he was dead for 16 damn years. How could you do that to your daughters and wife?

On the other hand I was itching for answers. I needed to know why he was gone for so long and why he didn't care to even show up for anything.

I walked past Jackson who now looked like a ghost anytime he saw me. I got my keys and walked out. I started my motorcycle and drove to the downtown café. I took the keys out and put them in my pocket. I started walking into the building then he opened the door for me. We both sat down at a table for a while. There was an unbearable silence that could kill if that was possible. That was until he spoke.

"So how have you been?" He asked folding his hands on the table

I gave him a look. Like, are you kidding me you did not just ask me that, look.

"Sorry, I meant to say I'm sorry I've been absent for 16 years... I'm sorry Adena but you have to understand why." He said

"Why?" I ask

"I didn't want to, but Zachariah threatened my family and I couldn't possibly return to a family that's not there can I?" He asked

"Sabrina and mom are both dead... Your whole family is practically dead... And I don't know if you know this but my days are numbered... Okay I don't get to have a life... Constantly looking behind my back... Constantly scared tomorrow will be my last day... Constantly being reminded I'll never be able to have kids, or get married, or have a husband, or a normal life... It's all been stripped away from me, Dad." I cried

He got up and hugged me. We stayed like this for awhile. He released me and sat back in his chair.

"I'm sorry if that was-"

"It's fine Dad." I said, "Can we get some coffee?"

I wipe the tears off my face and sniffled. He got up and ordered us coffee. He came back and set the coffee in front of me. I took a sip.

"I didn't know what to get you so I get the same thing I normally get." He said taking a sip of his own coffee

"This is what I always get." I say

"I'm glad you like it." He smiled

We sat in the café for awhile sitting and drinking our coffee. Once the coffee cups where empty.

Then I got a call from Mandy.

"Can I take this?" I ask

"Sure." He smiled

I picked up my phone and pressed the green button. Mandy was calling.

"Hey what's up?" I ask

"The Lynch's came over to my house and asked if I had Excalibur." Mandy said

"Okay?" I asked

"I said I don't have it... And the don't have it either." Mandy was very panicked

"So who has it?" I ask

"I don't know... If I knew I would have told you!" She shouted

"I'm sorry I just thought I'd ask... Any clue who might have it?" I ask

"There no other hunter in this town but the Lynch's and my family... So... It could be anyone!" She says

"Sorry to interrupt but I have cameras all over town... I might be able to find who has it." Dad said

"Mandy my dad might be able to find it... I call you back." I say

"Ok." Then the line went dead

He got his laptop out and turned it on. He opened up a couple of files and eventually we could see everything in town. You could see in one of the panels some dark figure walking  around with a gun shaped thing in a cloth.

"I know where that is!" I shout

"Hunters hollow high?" He asked

"Yep!" I shout

Dad and I ran out of the café followed by Myles.

"Don't you have work?" I asked

"Boss said I could go with you." He said

"Okay let's go!" Dad shouted

I took my motorcycle and Myles rode in my dads car. We pulled up into the school. And saw almost the whole town tied up in a line then the person with Excalibur behind them.

I looked at the faces of the people.

Finn, Lola, Julian, Jackson, Casey, Delilah, Evelyn, Stephen, Eleanor, Killian, Ben, and so many more.

"Adena, it's either you or them!" They shouted

"Who are you?" I ask

"Does that matter?" They asked

"I'm curious, if I die I want to know who by." I say

They stepped into the light. Dylan revealed himself.

"Why?" I ask

"You turned me into a monster!" He shouts

"I didn't turn you into a monster, you where already like that! You just have to learn to control it." I say

"Why? To be some little beta? And follow everything you say like some little puppy?"

"No, you always have a choice and if you don't like my pack than you can join Stephens." I say

"You don't get it do you? You screwed up my whole life! Now I can't play football in the pros. I can't be normal!" He says

"That's how I used to feel too. But that changed when I realized this is normal now!"

I say

I get closer to Dylan.

"Come any closer I shoot!" He says

I keep walking.

"Put the gun down, Dylan." I say

He pointed the gun at me.

"Adena, don't make me!" He shouted

"Dylan, I can't help if I'm dead." I say

"Maybe if your dead... I'll be human again!" He said

"That's not how it works." I say

"How?" He asked

"I have to bite you again." I say

"Do it!" He shouts

"You'll die!" I say

He holds up the gun.

"Then you leave me no choice." He said

He held up Excalibur and pointed right at me. He pulled the trigger and the bullet pierced my heart. Not even the wolf could heal this.
