Chapter 75: Secrets Have a Way of Coming Out

Cassie awoke to the aroma of smoked bacon sifting through the air. Grabbing one of Randy's shirts, she tossed it on and followed the delicious scent into the kitchen. He stood over the stove but turned as she entered the room.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, moving to the coffee machine to pour her a cup.

"Better. My head still hurts, but it's manageable. I only have a small bruise on my calf, but I have a massive welt on my thigh."

Handing her the coffee, he gestured for her to have a seat at the table. She gratefully accepted the mug and inhaled the hypnotic aroma before taking her first life-saving sip.

Randy went back to the stove and returned with two plates of bacon, eggs, and fruit. He sat down beside her and turned, looking her square in the eye. He stared, waited, and she knew what he waited for.
