My knight shining armor

Inside the luxury washroom, I exhaustingly looked at my reflection in the mirror. I noticed how my body changed after two weeks of working as an assistant.

I had a peaceful sleep, drowning myself in my problems. I thought I would lose Andrea upon seeing her face soak up with blood. My heart thumped too fast, asking for help along the way, surrounded by people with different errands.

Until now, that scene shattered my heart like I never tried my best to save her life. I asked myself million times why... why I'm going through with all of these things?

Am I not good enough to be her older sister? Am I not doing the same thing as what our parents did when they are still alive?

Before I faint, I quickly turn on the faucet, letting the water flow into the sink.

"Huh, I never knew taking this job is too risky!" I mumbled, splashing the cold, refreshing water on my moist face until I felt better.

On the other side, that statement embraced with a deep, serious thing that my soul could only explain. Meeting Lisandro Realm is an angel in disguise, but I was dragging myself into a popular scandal and there's no way to escape.

I then turned my gaze on my purse, breathing heavily while looking for tissue paper. But I didn't find anything inside.

"I put it here earlier! How... how come that it suddenly disappeared?"

My eyes widened when I remembered something. My face turned scarlet, my heart fluttered, swallowing my pride.

I couldn't believe he used it earlier and the funniest part of it was… Lisandro accidentally put a box of condoms in my purse.

"How did he even put these condoms in my purse?" Embarrassingly, I took the box out inside and threw everything in the trash bin on the opposite side.

My hands were shaking, but I must go back to his office before someone saw me here. Quick as I should be, I put a simple shade of red lipstick on my pale lips. Ignoring three women who came inside, laughing voraciously.

They were quite noisy, but I was not in the right mood to say something about their behaviors.

"Have you ever seen his red face earlier? I… I couldn't believe he just smiled at me after kissing him!"

Eavesdropping was not my profession. But since they were too loud, I heard their conversation accidentally. It seemed like they were talking about a man who doesn't even care about them.

Shrugging off my shoulders like a lazy, bored little girl, one of the three women stood behind me, combing her hair with her fingers.

She said, "Can you move a little bit? I can't see my reflection because of you."

I smiled widely back at her instead of talking nonsense that would provoke an empty can, raising her brows like an evil witch.

"Sure, no problem!" I energetically replied, wearing a genuine smile, and moved aside as she told me so.

Lowering her head, she secretly looked into my reflection without changing her facial expressions. She was checking everything on my face, gasping, waiting for the perfect moment to ask me again.

"Wait… are you Andy Carter, Lisandro's new assistant?" she asked.

Her friends suddenly came out from different cubicles. They looked into our way, holding back their breaths as if they saw a real ghost standing before their eyes.

Something strange covered my mouth, hindering not to tell anyone about my job, the six months agreement, and being a slave of an honorable businessman in the country.

My heart beat too fast when the three of them looked at me furiously. I am an innocent woman who never killed someone and that was for sure.

"D-don't tell me… don't tell me you're the girl who stole Lisandro from me!" The girl with uneven bangs yelled at me.

I wanted to laugh out loud but it was not the perfect thing to do. I must get out of here before these crazy bitches attack me.

As I remained calm and silent, they were slowly turning into wild, aggressive creatures. They were ready to devour delicate prey, hoping to be saved by someone before it was too late.

I tried to calm myself but it was no use when one of them yanked my hair downward and almost tore apart my scalp.

"How dare you steal him from us? You're a cheap, nobody girl who just came out of nowhere!"

"W-what are you talking about? I never stole someone from you!"

I forcibly pushed her away from me. I couldn't let anyone hurt me even they were rich and had more connections than anyone else in this room.

These girls messed up with the wrong person. They didn't gather information about their victim before attacking her.

Yet, even how strong I am to defend myself, they were more capable of hurting me. Until they slapped me, pulled my hair, and called me bitch, slut, whore, and gold-digger woman.

"Know your place, Carter! Never mess up with us or you'll be found dead on the next day!"

The girl wearing a bright, neon cocktail dress put deeply her index finger into my chest, forcing me to stay away from Lisandro.

But how could I do that if he was the one who wanted to see me every single day? How could I ever escape from a man who completely helped me in my darkest times?

Leaning back at the cold wall, I closed my eyes hoping that he would come around and grab my arms away from the three musketeers.

Waiting for a man who didn't even my boyfriend was a sign of desperation. But if it was the only way to run away from this hell, I would rather be a desperate woman rather than being mistreated by anyone.

I took a deep breath and opened my eyes, glaring at them sharply. I was done being weak and underestimated. If I don't do something to scare them, nothing would change and they would do the same thing always.

"Stay away from me, three musketeers! If you don't want me to break your weak bones into pieces!" I mumbled confidently until someone grabbed my arm surprised all of us.

"Hold my hand, Andy," he murmured and I realized that my knight shining armor had finally appeared and saved me from trouble.
