Twisted Obsession

"Thank you..." she said before she fell into abyss.

Alex woke up with a start and breathes heavily. The sheets are damp with sweat. Alex has Lia's clothes in his arms as always. He switches on the lights and turns to look at the clock. It was about 4 in the morning....

He gets up and takes few deep breaths and then looks longingly at the woman's clothes. Alex goes downstairs to the kitchen to make two cups of coffee. He drinks one cup and leaves the other on the table. Alex lays 2 yoga mats on the floor of the gym and practice yoga on the light blue one till 5:00 AM and then folds both the blue and pink mats and puts them away.

Now he starts cleaning the house with a vacuum cleaner. The ground floor has a living room, a kitchen , a store room and a bedroom. The first floor has the master bedroom, another bedroom, a study and a gym....

Alex does all these chores without any life in them, almost like he is eating food just to survive rather than enjoy the food.

Alex goes into the bathroom which is attached to the master bedroom and looks at himself in the mirror. Alex is a handsome man. He would have no problem to make a career in the entertainment industry just based on his looks. He has silky black hair, chiseled face a strong jaw line, his body is slightly muscular and there is a faint bruise on his abdomen which came from the underground fighting match he took part in 2 days ago. However what would attract attention is not his devilish face or his athletic body but his eyes. Alex's eyes currently have no light in them, they are soulless like that of a zombie, dead but still alive.

He takes a razor and hold it against his left wrist to cut it but hesitates in the last second. He tries to commit suicide but ultimately decides against it. His desire to follow her into reincarnation as well as the thought that she sacrificed her life for him to live fight inside his head adding up to his frustration. He takes a deep breath to calm down and take a shower which washes away his sweat as well as tears which he desperately hides from the rest of the world.

People say that men should not shed tears but....Men have emotions and they can feel sad too but society's standards towards men cause them to hide their tears...

"Another day without you...."Alex sighs and wraps the towel around his waist.

Alex wears a black suit with a blue shirt and then proceed to rearrange the women's cosmetics on the vanity table, his actions are careful and he is treating those cosmetics as one would treat their kids. Alex's eyes now contain affection and sadness. He heads downstairs to make himself some breakfast and then check the news on his phone while eating. After eating breakfast, he heads towards the study room and take some documents and plans and head towards the car.

It is a second-hand car he bought with the money he saved from working part time during college. Alex had never thought to using a better one for his daily life despite having a sports car. It is because Lia was the one who selected this car for him.

Alex's 'home' is in Greencloud community in which the houses are decently priced. This community mostly has people of middle-class and white-collar workers as any decently accomplished businessmen would have money to buy better ones. It took about 20 minutes to get to his office which is the commercial district. Alex's company is called Dreamstar Corporation, it was founded by Alex's father-in-law. He currently owns 80% of the shares while the other 20% is with his father-in-law's friends who supported him. Alex would have taken those shares too if they were not Lia's uncles.

He parks his car and then looks at the mirror. His eyes now have a confident light in them and he oozes a bossy aura, both of which are due to the fact that he cannot let people see his weak side.'I can lose my life but not the company.'

Alex gets out of the car and walk in a steady gait which was practiced and judged by Lia. Thinking about it puts a faint smile on his face which enhances his charm. Alex greets the security and the receptionists before getting into the lift. His office in in the 37th floor and this floor has a conference room, few small offices for the assistants and secretaries, a office for the Vice-president, President's office and Chairman cum CEO office.

He sits in his chair and start scheduling the meetings and proposals which are usually an assistant's work but he does not have a assistant as it was Lia's job. This office has a extra table which was her's. Alex and Lia didn't have much privacy towards each other. Some think that couples should have some time for themselves and appropriate privacy but they have nothing of that sort. They are very comfortable with each other and share everything which includes small-talk between friends, love letters they received when they were in college, embarrassing things they have done when they were kids such as stealing candy, pissing in bed etc....

A knock interrupts his thoughts.

"Come in" Alex says while lifting his head to see who it was. " Good morning Alex" a gentle and melodious voice enters his ears. It was Shelly, the President of the company. She has a curvy hourglass figure, she is about 174 cm in height which is considered tall, she has waist-length black silky hair, black eyes and has healthy white complexion.

She is currently in a office suit and to the regret of many male employees, she never wears any revealing clothes which includes short sleeve dresses. She is the dream wife of many men with her charm of a virtuous and gentle wife.

"Good morning Shelly. What's the matter ?" Alex answers her without being affected by her charm in the slightest.

"You won't believe this!!" she exclaims. "The Apollo Corporation has requested to schedule a meeting with us." She says while trying to keep her composure to avoid jumping in joy.
