Lynn is in a Solid First Place! This is a Chance to Win Against Linze!

Once he finished sorting out his luggage, Lynn ate the last magic mushroom and closed his eyes to meditate. By the time he opened his eyes, it was already evening. Lucy was laying on the sofa with her head resting on his shoulder. She had fallen asleep, so Lynn gently woke her up.

"How is it even possible for you to sleep so much?" he helplessly asked.

Lucy was a little shy about this as she had not completely woken up yet, and instinctively hugged Lynn.

"I do not know. If I did not care, I could sleep all day," she said.

"Okay," Lynn said with a smile,"Get up and let's go for dinner."

"Are you done absorbing magic?"

Lynn nodded. Lucy looked at Lynn with her jewel like eyes and pressed on.

"First off, will you not face problems later on?"

Lynn felt his mana was more than twenty times stronger than in the beginning, and dissuaded her worries.

"Unless there are others with a prodigious amount of magic, I will win."

Before Lynn arrived in Monlar City, his magic was already more than a thousand points. It should be even higher right now. Since there were more high ranking wizards in this city, Lynn did not want to get into any trouble so he did not have a test ready. This caused the exact number of his power to remain unknown to him. The number was certainly far greater than the young nobles who came for the test, however.

Lynn went downstairs with Lucy and entered the hotel's restaurant. It was a high class one where each seat cost ten silver coins, along with the costs of the meals. This was because the central aristocracy earned a significant amount, allowing for more extravagant prices. However, for Lynn, this was nothing.

Once he sat down, Lynn asked for roast beef, vanilla lamb stew, refined bread, and fruit. The central region had more spices causing the food to be better. In Lynn's village, the seasonings were basically salt and black pepper. Here, there were herbs, basil, cinnamon, garlic, and other such flavors.

The prices for these spices were not too expensive which allowed a civilian to be able to purchase them. Unfortunately, no merchant caravans travelled to Fenglin Village to sell spices.

In a short amount of time, the food Lynn ordered was prepared and delivered to him. He was half way through the meal before a bunch of nobles showed up. Lucy was visibly a little bit nervous. Lynn knew what she was worried about as Linze was also expected to be in this city. Lucy was afraid that there would be a conflict when they meet.

Lynn was not nervous since he had personally killed people before. Something like a noble confrontation was of little concern to him. If he did encounter Linze and he dared to cause trouble, Lynn would solve the problem and tell the local authorities that his solution was the way of northern nobles. Unfortunately, the people who came over were not Linze.

After the men sat down, an odd faced fellow looked at Lynn but did not cause a commotion. Since Lynn was dressed in civilian clothes and was sitting in a hotel meant for nobles, he was prone to attract attention. However, Lynn was in good health and temperament, and with Lucy's aristocratic presence they could tell Lynn was an extraordinary lad. The men did not pick a fight and instead ordered a few drinks and talked.

"This time 1,600 people came to the assessment. I think that first place should go to Nedor Yer of The West. I heard he had 180 mana points."

"Fool, 180 points may be a lot, but it is normal compared to the experts. I heard that Bruno Allan of Versace CIty had a value of 220."

"Now hear this, this year's winner must be Kyle's Linze. I hear he has greater than 220 mana points."

Lucy's lovely beast ears moved under her silver colored hair. Lynn had a calm expression as he continued to eat his meat. The nobles were surprised at this revelation, though.

"No, greater than 220? He is probably going to win the championship!"

"Kyle City is also rich, so it is no surprise that he has such a large amount."

"If he is over 220, then I am sure that he will be the champion and no one can beat him."

"The future is bright for the number one magician. Ah, he could enter the Academy of Magic, and also be pursued by noble beauties! I am envious of Linze."

Lucy listened to their entire conversation and became a little angry. Right when she was about to say something, Lynn held her hand to calm her down.

"I am going to tell them that you are number one!" Lucy said with a little rage.

"Only victory matters," Lynn says while shaking his head in a calm manner. "Words do not matter."

"In their eyes, they think that a mana capacity of 220 is great because they can not imagine a person like me exists. It makes no sense to correct these ignorant and foolish noblemen."

Lucy's mood gradually improved after hearing Lynn's words. After dinner, Lynn left behind some gold coins with a tip and left. That evening, a magic school emissary came to the hotel to confirm if there was anyone not registered for the test. With the Frost family's letter of recommendation, Lynn qualified easily with his candidate number being 1580. The number signified how far back in the order Lynn was.

This was because Lynn had come late, but the order did not mean anything. After he qualified for the assessment, Lynn had a deep sleep throughout the night. The next morning, Lynn and Lucy took off in their carriage to the magic square of Chanlinola.

The square was huge, but only the carriages of nobles who were participating in the assessment could enter it. The nobles were very pompous as they rode their carriages to the testing stone and then exited them. Once they finished the test, they climbed back into their carriages and left. It was nothing more than to show the financial resources of their families.

Lynn was in the last position, but the tests were progressing quickly with two or three people a minute. Seeing this, Lynn was not in any rush and got out of his carriage and casually looked around. At the same time, person with candidate number 1597 exited his ride and looked at Lynn with cold eyes. The person found Lynn's line of sight and looked over at him. After he fidgeted a little, he commented with an obnoxious attitude.

"Lynn? You, a civilian who was driven out of the family, actually came to the wizard's assessment? Are you crazy?"
