Chapter 65 - Like us?!

After mumbling and grumbling to herself, Feng came back to bed.

A few minutes later, after her breath had evened out, Ethan sat up and peered at her intently. 'she is definitely here from our world but at the same time she is not like us. She might have assistance or some kind of system that is guiding her. Does that mean her choices are not her own... did she approach us for a particular reason?'

A weird fear gripped his heart.

Fear that she might be forced by this system to be with them.

Even though he never doubted her affection before, now his heart was slightly doubtful....

'Does she know about Clarina as well? Is that why she knew about Yubiri? Are we all..... just a task?'

His heart broke a little.

{'What the hell are you thinking about so late at night?'} an annoying voice shouted in his mind.

Ethan glanced at Aiden, who was looking at him blankly. {'I—I don't know anymore... I don't know if Feng likes us or not..'}

{'stupid, don't doubt her like that,'}

{'But according to my guess, she must be forced by the system.....'} Ethan dwindled with his thumb nervously.

Aiden sighed and sat up straight. "Listen, Ethan, I heard her when she was talking as well. But unlike you, I don't doubt her one bit. She might have approached us because of a task, but I don't think she would let us stick to her if she didn't like us. Think about it, she knows about Yubiri being a powerful mage yet she stays wary of him.

"But she is not like that with us. So stop your useless thinking and go back to sleep. My head is aching from your yapping," he mumbled and hugged her tight.

Ethan blinked in shock. "O—okay..."

He laid down softly onto the pillows and peered at her sleeping face. 'Aiden is right. I really should not have doubted her like that.....' he cupped her hands and placed it on his cheeks. Feeling her warm hand made him happy as heck.

"For goodness sake! Just sleep already," Aiden moaned.

"I'm trying.... she is cute..." he pinched her cheeks a bit and made a fish face by squeezing them together.

"Okay, if you are not sleeping, go practice. Don't disturb my sleep with your thoughts!" Aiden shouted and pushed his hand prodding hand away from her. "Don't disturb her either. She needs her rest."

While they were arguing, a small sound of the door opening was heard.

Both of them became still and parented to be sleeping.

A silent footstep walked in, nearing their bed slowly.

{'Who do you think it is?'} Aiden sent a whisper with a frown.

{'It's too dark I can't see that well.'} Ethan mumbled softly.

Soon the dark figure moved closer to reveal a familiar face. Lady Hiliana silently pulled down the sheets and gently lifted Feng's skirt up.

"I hope this will help," she mumbled as she applied something to her legs and hands thoroughly.

{'What is that? It smells medicinal,'} Aiden sent a thought to Ethan.

Ethan just silently observed the lady's actions. {'I think it is just a soothing balm.'}

The old lady gently continued massaging her legs and her feet, making sure to concentrate on her acupuncture points. Then she moved upwards and applied paste over Feng's hands. "That will do.,"

"Alvin, give me that warm salt bag."

Lady Hiliana gently placed a warm bag of salt on her thighs muscles. "It's not that hot anymore. Can you have the maids heat it up?"

"I shall,"

The young grandson bowed and left the room.

She then pulled down Feng's skit and arranged her clothes properly.

After which she sat down on the corner and started to apply medicine on Ethan's head.

Ethan froze stiffly. The lady's gentle hands massaged his aching head and the back of ears thoroughly.

"The kids are working so hard. It must be difficult," another voice whispered.

The old lady sat with them and continued massaging Aiden's head as well.

After they were fully massaged, she sighed softly and left the room.

Aiden sat up with a happy smile. "You know Ethan, this time around we have people that love us and people we love."

"yeah.... thankfully we don't have to repeat that awful life we had,"

"Yeah, that was a shitty life, man. Who would want to be experimented and killed," Aiden mumbled, glancing at the wooden ceiling.

"Now he is our 'master'," Ethan sarcastically whispered.

"Don't worry, we just have to get stronger than him and take him down. Maybe we can torture him a little."

"Only a little, he is our 'master' after all." Ethan mumbled and agreed with this absurd plan.

Aiden glanced at him over Feng and chuckled. "Hey do you also feel that Yubiri is different somehow,"

"He is stupid still. But he is not cruel as we known him to be." Ethan leaned on his elbows and glanced at him. "What are you getting at?"

"Do you think he is like us?"
