CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN

Previously on Avenging Angels

Miss Helda clarifies the misunderstanding of the switching of babies twenty years ago and Rose is relieved to know that she isn't Avalor's daughter.

FORTY-SEVEN

Being a personal maid was one of the most annoying jobs one could ever have, especially when we're talking about Regina Bladderwort.

Alright, no hard feelings attached but she is one shrewd, disgustingly annoying brat.

I can't even wrap enough synonyms to quench my anger and express my feelings.

What did I do in the past life that I am suffering like this?

You want to know why I am pissed?

When someone came knocking on my door as early as 5 am and ordered me to get ready and come upstairs, I wasn't that angry.

I handled it with a smile.

I got up, took a quick shower, and headed to Regina's room by 5:30 am.

She asked me to sit and wait until she took her bath and I complied with her demands.

When she was in the bathroom for over forty minutes, my anger cells started peeking out but I calmed myself down.

I mean, how can a person spend more than half an hour in the bathroom, claiming you were taking your bath?

Like girl, what do you have in there that I don't? I'm sure it's the same boobs and ass God blessed us all with.

But no, because of courtesy, I still grinned when she came out of the bathroom.

When she later told me to get all, when I say all, I mean ALL of her clothes from her closet and arrange them back color by color in symmetrical order, I did as she said without a single word.

Might I mention that her walk-in closet was as big as two master bedrooms juxtaposed against each other and her clothes were about a thousand outfits, another thousand ball gowns, and five dozen pairs of shoes?

Do you think I'm exaggerating?

Well, come clean a ten feet long closet and arrange a thousand outfits by color gradient for the last hour and a half, then you will understand my feeling.

Not to mention that the reincarnated she-Lucifer is right behind me, constantly spewing out orders to annoy me further.

'No, that doesn't go there'

'You're supposed to fold the light clothes, not hang them'

'Rose, how many do I have to tell you that that is pink and not red. Don't you know Magenta pink?'

She sat on a stool and kept orders at me as I slaved away on the floor with a pile of clothes all over the room.

Now, the real reason I am so angry. Could you believe, in this world of excessive humanity spilling out of its pores, Regina hasn't gotten any of it?

The she-Lucifer dared tell me to not eat breakfast and wait till lunchtime before I could go down and eat.

Can you imagine that? She said it with all boldness that she left me speechless.

Lord of the heavens and earth, if you're above, watching this unfair treatment, I beseech to you to send your thunder down to strike this heartless monster who separated me from the love of my life.

I kept on praying and praying as I swallowed my anger to the pit of my boiling stomach.

"Rosaline, how many times do I have to tell you, grey comes before black? Black should be the last thing you put in the closet. Didn't you attend elementary school?" Regina screeched as she filed her nails.

"Sorry ma'am" I gritted out and took out the black, tight fit gown to the end of the closet.

"Um, ma'am. It's 8 am already, I'm sure breakfast is ready, aren't you feeling hungry?" I tried my luck one more time.

"No, I'm on a diet. I don't eat breakfast, only dinner" she said nonchalantly as her eyes were on her nails.

Haven't you heard of breakfast is the most important meal? Diet, my foot.

You already look like a pair of toothpicks glued to each other, I wonder what massive transformation would do to you.

You're going to upgrade to a string of threads.

I bit my lip to swallow my words down.

"Don't just stand there! Arrange the clothes, you're so slow!" she rolled her eyes.

I clenched my fist and sat back on the floor as I folded her dozen towels.

What does a single person need ten towels for?

Ugh, my pitiful life.

I'm sure the girls are in the kitchen now, having their breakfast when I am stuck in here, folding clothes.

Finally, finally, I'm done arranging the closet.

Yes, what was impossible, I made it possible in three and a half hours.

I succeeded!

The victorious grin wasn't hidden from my lips as I ran out of room, about to reach for the door when...

"Stop," Regina said.

I grudgingly turned around.

"Where do you think you're going?" she crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows.

"Uh, I'm done with the closet"

"So?"

"So...?"

"Get to the vanity table" she pointed and my expression fell to the bottom.

"But... you said I could eat when I was done" I pouted.

"Done arranging the room, you've only done the closet!"

My shoulders slumped as I walked back into the room with a sad face.

Someone knocked on the door and Regina looked at me. I walked back to the door and opened it.

Miss Helda was standing in all her glory, her usual attire on her body.

I never thought I would be happy to see this old hag but being trapped in a room for about five hours now made me feel relieved to see a new face.

"Yes?" Regina asked.

"Good morning, miss. Madam asked for Rosaline and I came to fetch her" the radiant smile to blossomed on my face was inexplicable.

"What? But she is busy" Regina snapped.

"Sorry but it's quite urgent. Your mother asked for her immediately" Miss Helda brought out her unyielding tone and when she looked at me, she sent a sly wink towards my direction.

This cunning old lady.

Aw, she deserves a tight, sweet hug.

"Okay, fine but as soon as you're done, get back here" Regina declared and took her phone.

Miss Helda and I went out of the room and closed the door behind us.

You irritating, stupidous, ignoramus, set of foolishly skinny mosquito legs. Fudge your smelling butt, witch.

I looked over at Miss Helda and her expression told me I said my not-so-decent sentence out loud.

I smiled sheepishly and waited for her to scold me for insulting Regina but it never came.

Instead, she crossed her arms amusingly and stared me down. I could see her lips were in a desperate battle not to burst out laughing.

"You have one colorful little mouth, young lady," she said, shook her head, and went downstairs.

I smiled as my insides became warm with a buzzing feeling.

I'm starting to grow fond of that old hag.

It was dinner time and as usual, we maids were standing in a straight line as the Bladderworts are to their heart content.

The missing spot didn't go unnoticed in our line.

The snarky Georgina hasn't still been able to recover from her trauma, she still sat in her room from morning till night and refused to come out.

Miss Helda suggested we send her back home but she refused adamantly.

The Bladderworts haven't said a word about her. I think they just decided to bury the hatchet so they wouldn't spoil their reputation.

Heartless jerks.

Midway through dinner, we heard a sound coming from the entrance and we all looked up.

The shock wasn't hidden from our faces when we saw who was at the door.

I have always mentioned that she looked much better without makeup and she just confirmed it once more.

By the entrance of the dining room, stood Georgina, her Auburn hair was put in a simple ponytail to display her youthful diamond-shaped face. Her uniform, although squeezed up a bit, lay right above her knee, and her long legs were covered with a pair of black leggings.

I was about to go reach out for her when a grip on my wrist held me back.

"Let her do this alone" Francesca whispered and I settled back on my feet.

She stepped into the room amidst the shrill silence and looked at the table with a deadly look on her eyes.

Grayson visibly shuddered from her eyes and he was quick to look away.

"Good evening, everybody" her coarse voice rang over the room with a harsh undertone.

Her ghostly brown eyes were focused on Grayson.

"Good evening" Willam answered first and the other followed in a hush.

"I'm doing great, thanks for asking" her dark sarcasm made the Bladderworts squirm with discomfort.

I smiled a little at her boldness.

She was about to walk towards us when she said,

"Oh yeah," and turned around.

"Where's the cover-up money?" she scoffed.

I never thought just a single question could make the entire room drastically change into a chilly surface.

Hey y'all,

Who missed Georgina?

I certainly did.
