Hiding from oneself

Jake's face flushed with embarrassment. He never expected this would come up this way in front of his colleague. He would have never thought that the girl he loved for two years would turn up to be a person like this. She was different but now she is all ruined. 

Jake noticed how her under eyes turned dark and her eyes were slightly red. Makeup could not cover it up for her. She probably had not slept properly for days or maybe she was on drugs. Hee face said that. She was not as healthy as usual but was skinnier now. She doesn't need Jake anymore but a physician. She was in need of medical care. He wanted to hug her straight away but what she did to him months ago didn't allow him to take his steps towards her. 

Sam thought there was no point explaining anything to her so she came up with something. 

"You want to know who I am? What is my relationship with him? " Sam said.
