Why is She Calling?

In a blink of an eye, classes already ended. As Angeal walked out of the classroom feeling grateful that they were dismissed early, she looked at the sky and noticed that it was becoming dark.

'Ah... longer nights,' she thought to herself as she walked towards the gate.

Not far off, there were two men sitting on a bench near the university. The both of them looked young, wearing simple casual clothes.

"Dude... are you sure you wanna do this? Target a university student," a black-haired guy wearing a bonnet asked the long-haired guy beside him.

"Bro... you don't have to worry. We will just be quick and it'll all be fine."

As the two sat down, looking at the university gate, they saw Angeal come out, walking as she was texting.

Frey and her agreed to meet in front of the fountain outside their university so as she walked, she got her phone that was dangling around her neck then texted Frey as she was walking.

"I will be there in a jiffy!"

"Hey, hey, hey," the guy with a long hair hit his friend at the side, getting his attention. "Look at her. She seems distracted using her phone. Let's go."

Seeing that she is indeed distracted, the guy wearing a bonnet nodded then the two of them walked their way to block Angeal's path.

"Hey, where have you been," the long haired guy said, surprising Angeal.

Knowing that she was being talked to by a stranger, and that he was acting like he knew her, she turned her back, only to be stopped by another guy.

"Mmhmm... we've been waiting for you, Jennifer!"

'Jennifer?'

Not being able to speak to ask for help, Angeal's face turned into a face full of fear and at the same time panic. Noticing her reaction, the two boys didn't want to make others notice anything suspicious so the guy with a bonnet put his arm around her shoulders.

"Let's go! We have to go to the arcade," the other guy lied as they led Angeal away from the crowd.

Waiting near the fountain was Frey, holding her phone as she waited expectantly for Angeal.

'She said she'd be here in a jiffy... what's taking her so long?'

Soon after, a car stopped in front of her, making the girl instinctively look at it in awe.

'Woah! This is a great car!'

The window opened, revealing two handsome men. The one in the driver's seat had a very handsome silver haired guy, while the other had an aloof handsome black haired guy with purple eyes.

Seeing how extraordinary their looks are and how she is aware of other beings, Frey instantly knew that they aren't humans.

"You're Frey, right," Ivar asked as he smiled, making Devin squint his eyes because his servant was speaking loudly near his ear.

"Umm... yes," Frey answered, meeting the two for the first time.

'Angeal was right... they are indeed handsome!'

"Come on in. You may wait for Arvid and Angeal inside the car."

Ivar invited her in then gave her a welcoming smile.

Realizing that she was being invited nicely, Frey gave a small shy smile, then opened the door of the car then sat at the back seat.

The moment she entered, a few minutes seemed to be like an eternity! It was so quiet—too quiet, that the atmosphere around them was overbearing!

Especially in Devin's side...

'Damn, this is so awkward!'

"So, Frey," Ivar said breaking off the silence. "I heard you are Angeal's childhood friend and best friend."

Hearing that, Frey nodded then smiled, feeling grateful at the same time that Ivar was striking up a conversation to break the silence.

"Yes! I liked her the moment I met her when we were young. It was so sad people didn't get to know her. I mean... she is indeed a nice and an interesting person!"

When the Dominion heard this, he thankfully smiled that Angeal got to meet a wonderful human such as her.

"Thank you so much for being there for her... especially for keeping her secret," the handsome immortal said, making Frey nod in agreement.

Of course, she knew no one would believe her if she told others that Angeal lived with immortals. Also, it also felt bad for her to disclose such information even though others would find it impossible.

Besides... there will also be humans who would be curious if she ever said this, and may risk their identities.

Frey wouldn't want that.

"Are they going to be dismissed soon?"

Hearing Devin suddenly speak, even though she was aware of his presence, Frey jolted in her seat, feeling surprised.

"Umm..." Frey trailed off then got the courage to answer him. "Arvid is still in class, 20 minutes before dismissal... and Angeal said she was going already since she was dismissed early," the girl answered making Devin sigh.

Ivar chuckled then spoke.

"I told you so! It is better to have a car since we can wait for them inside rather than standing up while we wait! A great way for transportation, too!"

Hearing this, Devin rolled his eyes at him.

"Shut up, Ivar... I am in no mood for this."

At the same moment, Frey's phone started ringing. Her eyebrows furrowed, seeing who the caller was.

It was Angeal.

"Huh? Why is she calling," she mumbled to herself, making the two immortals look back at her.

They all know that she is mute... so how can she call anyone?

Feeling confused, Frey answered the call and put it on loud speaker.

"Angeal—"

"Hey, bro! This girl is mute!"

"Oh? How can you say so?"

"Look! We managed to get her but she couldn't even say a single word... or even make a sound!"

"Ha! So we are lucky, then!"

"Shall we get everything she has then... have fun with her? You know what I mean..."

Hearing the last sentence and how they laughed, Devin's eyes turned deadly.

Like having the intent to kill.

His calm hands on his lap turned into tight fists as he felt anger course through his veins. He wanted to beat the hell out of those men talking.

"Her phone is hanging around her neck—hey! She's on a call!"

"Ah, shit! End it and throw her phone away!"

BEEP

"Oh no... Angeal," Frey said worriedly, her voice trembling in fear as her eyes started to water.

"Where did you agree to meet," Ivar asked, urgency evident in his voice.

"By the fountain," she answered, no longer able to keep her tears at bay.

"Where is the university entrance and what possible places can she pass through," Devin asked, making Frey point outside to answer.

The two immortals looked outside to assess the area quickly.

It only had one path going to the fountain, but it had another alley, leading towards what seemed to be an abandoned building.

"Ivar, stay here with Frey."

With that, Devin removed the enchantment placed on his chest then in a blink of an eye, he disappeared into thin air to search for Angeal.

What will happen to our dear Angeal? A cliff hanger, indeed~! ;)
