EPISODE 14: The Grand Egg Hunt!

Riolu and I surpassed the second challenge, defeating the totem Pokemon! It was easy indeed when I battled Yungoos, me and Riolu became overconfident but that all changed when we battled Gumshoos, the large totem Pokemon!

"Kalem, how's the totem challenge?" Zhery inquired as I rushed inside the doors of the orphanage.

"Me and Riolu? We passed the totem challenge!"

" Congratulations Kalem! So... So that means, you're going to battle the Kahuna right?" Zhery wondered.

"Yeah! The headmaster and the Kahuna decided that the battle will take place in the battle stadium later, the kahuna told me to let Riolu rest for a while."

"And me and Glade will be there to watch your battle with the Kahuna. We'll be cheering for you!"

"Oh right, where's Glade by the way?"

"Glade? He's currently at the battle stadium."

"But what's he doing there?" I questioned.

"He and Mr. Copper are battling!"

"Wait really? I want to go there and watch them battle!"

"Yeah sure Kalem, just follow me!" Zhery instructed as we went to Battle Stadium to watch Glade and Mr. Copper battle. When me and Zhery entered the Battle stadium, we heard the cheers of the crowd! "Go Glade!" "Go Mr. Copper!" the crowd shouted their names!

Me and Zhery sat with the crowd and cheered for Glade.

"Luxio use thunderbolt!"

"Bronzong just stay in there!"

I was shocked, why didn't Mr. Copper asked Bronzong to dodge his Pokemon?

"Hey Zhery, Mr. Copper didn't ask Bronzong to dodge Luxio's thunderbolt. But why?" I puzzled.

"You'll see! Just watch Mr. Copper's strategy!"

*The thunderbolt hits Bronzong but is reflected back to Luxio!*

"Wh... What?" Glade was in awe.

"So that's how, since Bronzong is a metal type Pokemon, it could reflect the thunderbolt!" I observed in my mind as I watched them battle.

"Bronzong, finish Luxio with Weather Ball!"

The whole battle stadium turned dark as a massive sphere of power was building up in Bronzong.

"Luxio has fainted because of Bronzong's Weather ball, the winner of the match goes Mr. Copper and Bronzong!" The referee proclaimed.

All of a sudden, the crowd turned wild! They cheered for Mr. Copper! But Mr. Copper was a humble man, he was so kind to shake hands with Glade. He even complimented Glade's Luxio. Glade was still happy after the battle, he knew that he got stronger because of the battle.

"Thank you so much for an exciting battle Mr. Copper" Glade chattered.

"It's fine my dear boy!" Mr. Copper replied.

Glade went back to his seat, and that was when we met again. He asked me the same question as what Zhery asked me, "How's the totem challenge?", and I, on the other hand, said, "I passed the challenge, and now I'm going to battle the Kahuna of Mele-mele island."

The crowd had a jovial mood. They were contented with the battle. The doors opened slowly as the headmaster and the kahuna arrived. Everybody turned silent while Mr. Copper approached them both.

"Let me guess, Kalem passed the challenges?" Mr. Copper asked.

"Yes, and today he will be challenging the Kahuna." the headmaster replied.

"I wonder what they're chatting about?" I wondered in my mind.

"I guess this is it Kalem, I guess this is your grand trial!" Glade hunched.

"Kalem, please proceed to the battle stage!" the headmaster ordered.

"Good luck with your grand trial Kalem! Me and Glade will be cheering for you!"

Zhery appealed.

"Thank you guys, I won't leave you disappointed!" I promised to them as I walked down.

The crowd was confused. They didn't know what was happening, so Mr. Copper spoke to clear things up.

"Today we will be witnessing a grand trial, a trial against Kalem and the Kahuna! I want all of you to cheer for them both!" The crowd went wild again! They shouted and screamed for the Kahuna, while Glade and Zhery cheered for me.

"Heh? Kalem has no chance against the Kahuna!" Marley teased.

"Don't you dare say that to Kalem!" Glade fought back.

"Come on, it's clear to me who will win, Look at that measly Riolu, it's so small that Kahuna Hala's Hariyama could squeeze it! Ha Ha ha ha ha!" Marley teased again.

"Its too early to judge, the battle hasn't even started yet!" Zhery fought back too.

"Heh! You'll see, Kalem will lose the battle, then he'll cry just like a baby!" Marley's teases made the crowd surrounding him laugh!

"You dare t-"

"Just let him tease Kalem all he wants, Kalem can't hear him anyways!" Zhery teased back.

"What did you say!?" Marley got annoyed.

"The battle is about to begin, I, Mr. Cooper will be your commentator while Ms. Beatrice will be the referee!" The crowd cheered again! "Kahuna Matata!" the crowd shouted!

"On my left, we have your one and only... Kahuna Hala from the Alola region! And on my right, we have Kalem and his Riolu!" Mr. Copper called.

Me and Riolu were walking slowly towards the stage.

"This is it Riolu, if we lose, our hard work and effort we did will just be a waste of time!"

"I can do this Kalem, I'll do it for both of us!" Riolu conversed.

"Both of you, please choose your Pokemon!" The headmaster announced.

"Hariyama, let's show him brute strength!" Kahuna Hala said as he threw his Pokèball up into the air releasing his Hariyama!

"Riolu, I choose you!"

"The match will be over if either trainer's Pokemon has been knocked down!"

"The grand trial between Kahuna Hala and Kalem is about to begin!" the headmaster added.

Then a count down from the big screen started to tick, 3... 2... 1...

"BATTLE BEGIN!"

"Ok Riolu, Hariyama is a tough Pokemon so let's use Quick attack!"

"Hariyama! Use dynamic punch on Riolu!" The Kahuna said confidently.

Boom!

"Riolu's attack wasn't able to hit Hariyama! But Hariyama's amazing dynamic punch made Riolu flying in mid-air!" Mr. Copper announced.

"Riolu are you hurt?!"

"He he he, I knew that Kalem would lose!" Marley teased while observing the battle.

"The battle's not over yet Marley, and look, Kalem's Riolu stood up!" Zhery said.

"Hariyama use Circle Throw!"

"Riolu run away from Hariyama!"

"Amazing! Riolu's speed was able to dodge Hariyama's circle throw!" Mr. Copper announced.

"Hariyama use dynamic punch!"

"Riolu counter that with Metal claw."

"Looks like the battle is heating up, Look at that collision course of Metal claw and dynamic punch making both Pokemon fly into the air!"

"I'm having a great time Kalem!" the Kahuna Hala chortled.

"Me too Kahuna Hala, me and Riolu are enjoying this match!"

"Hariyama use Heavy Slam!"

"Riolu dodge it!"

"Ohhh and look at that folks! Riolu was unable to dodge Hariyama's Heavy slam!" Mr. Copper announced. The crowd cheered on! As Marley continued to tease.

"Weak! Weak! Riolu is weak ha ha ha!"

"You and Sceptile are weaker! You lost to Riolu remember?" Zhery teased.

"Riolu get up! I know you can defeat Hariyama, I know you can! Don't you give up now!" I tried to persuade Riolu with my words.

Riolu panted as he stood up, he glared at Hariyama's eyes "Come to me!" Riolu boasted.

"That Riolu is surely something, look at that fiery eyes!" Kahuna Hala complemented in his mind.

"Hariyama, use Arm thrust!"

"Riolu go behind Hariyama then use metal claw!"

HARIIIII!!! Hariyam shouted in pain!

"Remarkable strategy! Riolu's metal claw damaged Hariyama heavily!" Mr. Copper announced.

"Go Kalem! Go!" Zhery and Glade cheered.

"Hariyama and I haven't given up! Hariyama use Heavy slam!"

"Riolu dodge it quick!"

"Hariyama was faster! Heavy slam dealt heavy damage to Riolu! Oh what's this? Riolu seems to be confused!" Mr. Copper announced.

"Riolu snap out of it!"

"Hariyama use dynamic punch!"

"Riolu blasted off! Could Riolu still battle?"

"Riolu snap out of it!"

Riolu couldn't hear me...

"Riolu snap out of it!" I shouted one more time.

"K... Kalem?"

"Yes good job Riolu!"

"Oh my! it seems to me that Riolu snapped out of confusion!" Mr. Copper announced.

"Can you still fight?"

"I... I can! Kalem!"

"Alright then, Riolu use quick attack!"

"Then we'll use the same tactic! Hariyama use dynamic punch!"

"Not this time! Riolu jump then pounce on Hariyama!"

HARIYAMA!!!!! Hariyama fell for the second time.

"Now Riolu keep using Karate chop!"

HARIII HARIII HARII!!!! Hariyama shouted in fear.

"Then its time to use a Z-move! Hariyama!" Kahuna Hala's Z-ring glowed brightly. Then Kahuna Hala started to do some weird hand actions that I couldn't get. Could I be witnessing the Power of a Z-move?

"Me and Hariyama combined as one, we unleash our brute strength and win as One! Hariyama use... ALL OUT PUMMELING!!!" Hala dictated.

", Riolu watch out!"

"Riolu was hit by the Z-move!" Mr. Copper announced.

"And that's that! He he, I knew Riolu was a weakling!" Marley teased.

"Oh wait! Riolu is still standing?!"

"How could you have survived that Z-move?! Impossible!" Kahuna Hala exclaimed.

"I guess you're wrong Marley!" Glade teased back.

"Riolu..."

"I can still fight Kalem!" Riolu said with determination!

Riolu's heartbeat got stronger as he walked back, he glared once more into the eyes of the beast. "IM NOT SCARED!" Riolu shouted. "COME AT ME HARIYAMA!!!"

"Hariyama use heavy slam!"

"Riolu jump over Hariyama then use metal claw!"

"IMPRESSIVE! Hariyama's attack missed!" The crowd began to cheer for me.

"GO KALEM!" They shouted with joy!

"Use metal claw again and again!"

Hari Hari Hari...

"HARIYAMA no!!!"

"RIOLU and Kalem wins the match, Hariyama has been knocked down!" the headmaster proclaimed.

Everybody stood up and clapped their hands they cheered for me except for Marley of course.

"Wh... What impossible!?!" Marley was in awe.

"So, you believe that Kalem's strong?" Glade asked.

"He was just lucky!" Marley said. He stood up and left the battle stadium.

The Kahuna went close to me, he grabbed my arm and raised it up! "I Present to you, Kalem! A victor of my grand trial!"

"Congrats young Kalem, you and your mother are no different after all, both of you are hard-working and persevere!" the headmaster complimented.

"Let me present to you, the fightium Z crystal, and of course your Z-ring!" Kahuna Hala gave me the Z-crystal and Z-ring.

"And I almost forgot, here take this handbook!"

"Wh... What's this Kahuna Hala?"

"That's for the correct body actions and hand positioning when doing a Z-move!"

"Wait so you mean, I have to do the fancy dance in order to perform a Z move?"

"Ha Ha Ha!" The kahuna laughed as he pats my shoulder. The crowd shouted my name Kalem Kalem! They all pleaded!

"Congrats Kalem! Now you can do Z-moves if you do the fancy dance of course ha ha ha!" Zhery teased.

"That's not a funny joke" I said with an expressionless face.

"Come on, don't you have some humor in your body? It was just a joke!" Zhery explained.

"Well what will you do with your Z-crystal?" Glade asked.

"I'm going to practice it and I'm going to get stronger!"

"I'll meet you guys in the dining hall, I just have to do something in my room," I added.

"Ok, we'll wait for you there!" Glade said.

As I went to my room, me and Riolu looked at the stars! "Mom, Dad, I won a Z-crystal!" I said to the stars, wishing that they were really here with me.

"Kalem... Kalem..." the strange voice called!

"That voice! I hear it again?"

"It seems to be coming from the egg Kalem," Riolu observed.

"Your right Ri- Ahhh!" I got interrupted by a sudden surprise. The egg teleported to my bed?! I placed it near my window but how could it teleport to the bed?

I tried to get the egg but it teleported to the bathroom.

"What the? Riolu, chase the egg hurry!"

"Kalem the egg teleported again!" Riolu shouted

"What?! Now where did it go?" I searched the egg in my room but found nothing.

"No no no! The headmaster's gonna kill me if she knew I lost the egg!"

"Come on Riolu we have to look around the orphanage!"

While I was running, I came across Zhery and Glade.

"Huh, Kalem? You're done?" she asked.

"Umm, guys have you seen a Pokemon egg this big and this high!" I tried to show them how big the egg was and how wide with the use of my hands.

"Egg? but I don't remember you having a Pokemon egg?" Glade recalled.

"I forgot to tell you, but I had this weird dream then poof! the egg appeared under my bed!" I explained fastly.

"Ehhhh? Are you sure, you weren't dreaming you had an egg?" Zhery queried.

"Come on guys! It's true! I'm telling the truth, the egg teleported from my window!"

"No egg can do th-"

"There there's the egg!" I interrupted Glade as I pointed the Pokemon egg which recently teleported behind them!

"Huh? But nothing's behind me!" Glade said.

"It teleported again!" I rushed outside the orphanage.

"Hey Kalem wait up!" Zhery tried to keep up.

"Huh here we go again" Glade said before he started to chase me.

"Do... Don't rush like that!" Zhery exclaimed as she gasped for breath when she caught up to me.

"Look, we need to find the egg! Or else the headmaster's gonna cut off my head. Literally!!!" I freaked out.

"Calm down Kalem, you run to fast! Headmasters don't cut heads!" Glade explained.

"Then why in the world are they called Headmasters?! Because they are masters at cutting heads!!!" I freaked out.

"Kalem! Relax, we'll help you find the egg, just tell us how it looks like!" Zhery offered.

"It looks like that!" I pointed to the recently teleported egg!

Glade and Zhery were surprised when the egg teleported again!

"Alright, now I believe you!" Zhery said.

"We've got to find that egg!" Glade said as well.

We kept on following for the egg, but it kept on teleporting.

"I guess I'm doomed now..." I said to myself softly as the three of us walked tirelessly looking for the egg!

"Kalem!" a voice called me from behind

"Th... That voice..." I said in fear.

"Kalem, the headmaster is behind you" Glade whispered.

"Y... Yes headmaster?"

"Are you looking for this egg?" The headmaster asked in an intoned voice.

Me and Riolu knelt as we begged for forgiveness.

"We're sorry headmaster, me and Riolu are so so sorry that we lost the egg"

"Headmaster, we tried to help Kalem catch the egg then it started to teleport everywhere!"

"That's normal..." the headmaster chattered.

"Wh... What do you mean miss Beatrice?" I queried in fear.

"It's normal for a dark type egg to teleport around before it hatches. Even my Murkrow does that when it was about to hatch." the headmaster said.

"So you're not mad at Kalem Miss Beatrice?" Zhery queried.

"No, why would I be?" The headmaster asked.

"Oh thank you Ms. Beatrice!" I said.

"Ummm, it's fine... I guess?" Ms. Beatrice wondered why I had to repent.

She handed me the egg, and I made sure that the egg was safe, I put it back on the window with the help of Glade and Zhery. Then the three of us went to the dining hall to eat our dinner. Me and Riolu had an exciting blast today! We finally have a Z-crystal! All we have to do is to learn the fancy dance. He he he...

Oh and for the egg? Just like what Ms. Beatrice said, it might hatch soon, me and Riolu are ready for a new member in our team!

As for Kahuna Hala, he returned back to his hometown in the Alola region.
