Chapter 29. Time to derail canon?

Protector Of The Fairies
Prepare Yourselves And Charge Forward
Jura glanced at all of the assembled Mages before continuing. "You are all familiar with where we are, correct? From here the Worth Woodsea spreads on to the north for miles, and it is in this very forest where an Ancient Magic rests, hidden amongst the very trees themselves. And this Magic was known by only one name. Nirvana."
Ichiya nodded and made a pose. "I heard just as much from the Master. He said that an ancient people lived in these lands, and that it was them who sealed Nirvana away."
"We don't need the pose," muttered Gray in annoyance. "Who were these people anyway?"
"Um…" Wendy raised her hand shyly, almost hiding when every eye fell on her.
"Go on," Jura said kindly. "Do you know something about Nirvana from your Guild Master?"
Wendy nodded. "He said that is where the guild originated from and that all of the people in the village came from people known as the Nirvits."
Hibiki brought a hand up to his chin. "Wendy is correct on the name I think. I remember hearing about the Nirvits but I wasn't sure if they were connected or not to Nirvana. So does that make you one of their descendents?"
Wendy shook her head lightly. "I'm kind of an adopted member. I joined the guild but I wasn't born into like everyone else."
"That has to be hard," said Lyon. "To be the only one who doesn't completely belong."
Wendy nodded, her expression sadder than before. Lyon turned his attention back to Jura. "Do you know what exactly Nirvana can do Jura?"
"I'm afraid I do not," Jura said gravely. "However I believe that the members of Blue Pegasus have been gathering data on it over the past few days."
Ren stepped forward. "From what we have learned, it has a deadly destructive power to it, enough that the ancients, now identified as the Nirvits, had to seal it away."
"That's all we know though," continued Eve, taking over for his friend. "We have no idea of what kind of Magic it can use or to what extent it can use it to either. Not even Hibiki could find anything."
Jura glanced towards Hibiki. "Is this true?"
"I'm afraid so Jura. It seems that the Nirvits didn't even want a single scrap of knowledge about Nirvana present anywhere. They must have destroyed all records of it so that it could never be stored in Archive."
Jura sighed. "That truly is bad news then. At the very least, we know that Oración Seis has gained enough information on it to agree that it is worth pursuing. As such, they have assembled nearby somewhere and are intending to find it and unseal it."
"And then," stated Ichiya, "we will attack Oración Seis when they least expect it."
"They're posing," muttered Lucy to Gray as she stared at both the Trimens and their mentor standing in dramatic poses.
"I'm starting to run out of things to say about it."
"We have twelve Mages while they have six." Hibiki brought all attention back to him as he snapped his fingers, screens appearing in the air with a control pad below the central one for Hibiki to access. "We can't afford to underestimate them because they are still very powerful Mages in their own right."
"That is a rare Magic there," said Jura with interest. "Am I to assume you are proficient in to?"
Hibiki smiled before screens of all members of Oración Seis appeared around them. "You are."
"Excellent."
"Hold on," said Lucy, her hand raised slightly. "You said twelve. I count fifteen of us here."
"You are correct. We will cover that shortly. Hibiki, if you will."
Hibiki nodded. One of the screens flashed and then extended , filling a bigger space than the rest in front of the other screens. On the screen was a red haired man with a purple snake wrapped around him. "I'll start with this man."
"That guy looks bad," said Natsu. "I mean just look at those slanted eyes."
"Your eyes are the same," chanted Gray and Lyon.
"Natsu is right," interrupted Hibiki. "This man is known as Cobra, and we have very little data on his actual Magic. What we do know is that he is always in that company of that snake of his, and it is extremely poisonous. Autopsy reports of some of this man's victims show the same thing, however what is interesting to note is that not all of the puncture marks were matching. It is likely he has other ways of poisoning his foes than just this snake. Be on the lookout for others."
Hibiki pressed a button and the screen's image changed to a new location. This time it showed Cobra watching a settlement. "This is all that was gotten from Cobra at this location. The man who recorded this image was never heard from after transmitting. What is likely is that Cobra is a scout for the six, the first there in order to evaluate areas. It is likely he is a tracker of some kind too so it will be hard trying to catch him unaware."
The screen moved away and a new one came up, this time revealing a man with spiked blonde hair in the shape of a mohawk. He seemed to wear a racing suit with green tinted glasses right above a long hocked nose. "This man has the codename, Racer. Again, his Magic is unknown to us. What we do believe is that he is some kind of Speed Magic user as his name might suggest. This at least allows us to know what to expect from him. He will be fast, and he has yet to have been touched in battle."
"I already hate him," muttered Gray. Lyon glanced at the image with a similar expression.
"The feeling is mutual."
Hibiki brought up the next screen to show a long orange haired man with a strange geometrical like face. "Hoteye of the Heavenly Eye. As the name implies, he is thought to use some kind of Eye Magic. He can find his targets with unnatural ease and has an extreme fondness for money. If the price is right, he will do any job you want him to. The perfect example of a mercenary."
Another screen flashed up, this time revealing a short white haired woman in a feathery dress with feathery wings. "This woman is a deadly one. Known only as Angel, she seems to be an infiltrator of sorts. Whether this is from beauty or Magic is unknown but it is likely the later as she is able to gain access to information that no one should be able to get a hold of."
A new image of Angel came up, quickly being magnified towards her hand where a slight bit of metal could be seen. "At the very least, we can identify one form of Magic she must use. She is a Celestial Spirit Mage."
Lucy glanced at the glint of silver and the faint mark they could see. "I don't recognise the Key."
"Neither do we. It's hidden too much for us to actually identify the type of Key it is. Judging by how she is a member of Oración Seis however, it is likely she must have at least one Gold Key, maybe more if this is her Primary Magic."
Hibiki glanced back at the image of her and shuddered. "They say she can peer into your very heart and see all the secrets hidden deep inside it. I hope they are just rumours because it is a fearful thing to imagine someone able to do such a thing."
The next image came up and Hibiki sighed. "We have very little Magic on any of the Mages in general but this guy is even worse. His name at least is Midnight but that is all we actually know. I think it is best we beat him earlier rather than later however as I am unsure if that name is there for a reason or not. It is better to be sure just in case."
Erza glanced at the figure in the photo. He had short black hair and his head was facing the ground while his arms and feet were crossed. One thing caught her eye though. "Is he asleep?"
Hibiki shrugged. "Every image of him shows the same. Look." He quickly flicked from image to image, each showing Midnight asleep in all of them while floating on a Magic Carpet. "It's strange isn't it? Yet even when asleep, he isn't defenceless. Rumours are that Magic simply won't hit him and instead flies right past and around him. If that happens when he is asleep, I don't want to see him when he is awake."
The last image came up and Hibiki frowned. Instead of a man was just static. "Hold on, this was here yesterday."
Ichiya looked at the screen intently. "Did you create a backup?"
"Yeah. I'll load it up."
"Good." Ichiya turned towards Jura. "It seems we have discovered how they manage to keep so much hidden about themselves."
"Indeed. One of them must be able to use Archive Magic at the same, if not a higher level than Hibiki."
"Got it," called Hibiki as the image of a white haired man came up. He had a staff with a skull on at its top and had strange markings along his body, intersecting to form strange patterns. "This man is believed to be the leader of them all if his codename indicates correctly. Brain, the man who's existence seems to have been wiped from the face of the earth. He is believed to have formed Oración Seis yet there is no sign that he existed among Legal and Dark Guilds."
Jura examined the man carefully. "Do we know anything about his capabilities?"
Hibiki shook his head. "Not in Magical terms, no. We have however managed to work out what those markings are. It is a strange formula and not one I have ever seen before but it has characteristics of Organic Link Magic."
All the Fairy Tail Mages took a quick breath, all aware of the dangers of that Magic. Laxus had shown them that Magic personally.
"We don't know what the purpose it so be on guard. It could be trap linked or perhaps may activate a Spell. It could even be a way to recharge his Magic."
"Can we disrupt it?" asked Ichigo.
"Afraid not. Without knowing how it works, we can't actually interfere with the Magic. If we did cause interference with it we could risk causing untold amounts of damage, and that is if such a thing could be done. Organic Link Magic's greatest strength and weakness is that the keys for it must be living breathing human beings, and they must also be Mages capable of having Magic to power the keys. And if Brain made himself the key, you would need to either kill or weaken him to disable it."
Hibiki clicked a button and all the screens vanished. "Each one of these Mages has the Magical Power required to beat an entire guild by themselves. As such, they are even more deadly as a team. Our best chance is to use our superior numbers and draw them away from one another, eliminating the advantage they would get from one another."
"It might be better if you don't count me," said Lucy while shaking.
"Um…" Wendy was close to hyperventilating. "I'm also not very good at fighting." Carla frowned at her actions.
"Stop acting so weak Wendy."
"They aren't counting us," said Happy as he hugged a fish with a bow on it. "What should we do?"
Ichiya made a pose. "Do not fear lovely ladies, for we do not intent to simply fight them. All we need to do is find out where they are hiding out."
"We should have mentioned about this," said Ren awkwardly as Hibiki brought up a map of the local area. "Their base is somewhere in the Woodsea, however we don't know the exact location. Considering this place use to be the home of the Nirvits, it makes sense that there would be some kind of structure or hideout belonging to them in the forest. One of these places would be a perfect hideout for them to gain both shelter from the elements and cover from us."
"I am correct in assuming that we want to gather all of them in their base?" asked Erza "What then though?"
Ichiya pointed up high while Hibiki presented a new image to them, this time of a mechanical blue horse with wings at its sides. "We will use our guild's pride and joy. Christina, the Pegasus. With help from her, we will take out their base and them along with it from above."
Sherry looked at the image with a bit on confusion. "So it is like a Magical Bomber?"
"Isn't that too much?" asked Lucy. "They're just people."
"No," said Jura forcefully. "This is just how powerful they are. We cannot afford to miss any opportunity we get."
Slamming his staff on the ground, Jura glared at them all once more. "Are you all ready? There will be no going back after this. If we get split up, under no circumstances should you try and fight alone. For every one of them, they will face two of us."
"Hold up," said Lyon, pointing a finger towards Ichigo and the other two Shinigami with him. "What about these three?"
"Support," stated Jura. "If the worst is to happen, they will be able to come support us till we can get back on our feet. However we must try not to call for their help if we can as they serve a more important focus here. If Nirvana is released, it must be able to be held here until help can come. The moment the seal breaks, the Magic Council will know of it. The Magic is unlike any other and they will realise how serious the situation is."
Jura gestured towards the Shinigami. "At that point, it will be their job to hold Nirvana back if possible with Kidou. A strong Kidou Barrier should hold Nirvana back for long enough for us to get help."
"Would the Magic Council really send enough though?" asked Gray. "A lot of the Rune Knights you see aren't exactly strong."
"Maybe not to you but they are decent enough in numbers. But no, they would send them to protect a sealed Nirvana. An unsealed Nirvana requires them to at least send one of their army's generals." Jura pretended not to see Ichigo flinch at those words and continued on. "Consider a general as anywhere between S Class and a Guild Master in terms of power, the older ones being more like a Guild Master or beyond that. These are troops that have spent years training and training for these types of situations. Nirvana's release will be taken seriously, don't worry."
"That is good," said Natsu, his fists smacking together. "Well what are we waiting for? Let's go!"
Before they could stop him, he was gone, charging out of the door. Erza sighed before quickly chasing after him. "He isn't running at full speed so that's something at least."
"I'm not letting that hothead get all the fun." Gray quickly chased after Natsu while Lucy reluctantly followed.
"Don't leave me behind."
Lyon looked towards Sherry. "We can't let Fairy Tail get all the good bits. Let's go Sherry."
"Right."
"Wait!" Jura looked on as Lyon and Sherry ran ahead, leaving him behind.
"We're going to," said Hibiki as he quickly led the Trimens after the others.
"Come on Wendy." Wendy looked down towards Carla in fear.
"Do we have to?"
"Don't worry," said Happy. "I'll protect you."
Carla took one look at Happy and then ran off, dragging Wendy after her. "Let's get away from that cat."
"Don't leave me behind!"
"My my," muttered Jura as Ichiya moved towards him.
"Men…"
Jura quickly glanced over to Ichigo as he stopped the group leaving. "Are you three off too?"
Ichigo nodded. "We'll take up position somewhere nearby and wait for trouble. You have the flare if you need us."
The three vanished, leaving only Jura and Ichiya at the building.
"It looks like we have begun," said Jura as he stared down the path the others had run to. "We should hurry up and get to the others. I don't like already being separated like this. Something is unnerving me."
"Before that Jura, if you don't mind me asking, I heard that you were a member of the Ten Wizard Saints. Is that true?"
"Indeed. And we are in luck today. Even if I fall, we have Ichigo here. It gives us two Wizard Saints to battle Oración Seis with."
Ichiya scratched his chin in thought. "That is indeed fortunate. To have two Mages of Makarov's capabilities here is excellent news for our cause."
"Oh no," said Jura humbly. "I wish I was at Master Makarov's level but I am not even close. This is a title bestowed upon Mages by the Council themselves and out of all the current members, I would say that I am the weakest."
"Don't think so lowly of yourself Jura. You were still one of the few given this title. That is no small feat."
Jura smiled in embarrassment. "You give me too much credit, but I thank you for your kind words."
Ichiya looked off towards where Ichigo had vanished from. "What about that Shinigami of Fairy Tail? Ichigo I believe?"
"It is hard to say where he stands in terms of position in the Wizard Saints. I would consider him to be a bit stronger to myself at most but I think he is still a bit below the others."
"Stronger than you?"
"Did you not hear about his fight with Laxus recently above Magnolia? Maybe I am considering too much since I would not be able to fight so effectively in the sky but I truly wonder how well I would stand up against him. His greatest skill is in power and speed while mine is in the strength of my defence."
"I see. If need be, how can we summon him?"
Jura pulled out the signal flare. "This should be it. A burst of Magic through it and it will send a blast of Magic high into the sky before converting it into smoke."
"That is a relief to know."
Jura's ears picked up the sound instantly. He knew what it was. It was the sound of a stopper being removed. He tried to react, but it was too late. He couldn't stop the smell from reaching him as such a small range.
As quickly as it took to take a step towards Ichiya, he found his strength vanishing, collapsing down to one knee with only his staff to support him. His other hand fell lax and released its grip on the signal flare, the cylindrical object dropping innocently onto the ground.
"I wasn't sure what I was going to do to deal with you," said Ichiya as he leaned down to pick up the signal flare. "If you had been at Makarov's level, I wouldn't have known what to do. It helps that you aren't as fast as Ichigo either as I doubt I would have been able to immobilise him as easily as I have you."
"What is this smell?"
"A Magical Parfum that saps the enemy's fighting spirit."
"You… You betrayed us!"
Ichiya removed the stopper of another test tube before releasing the smell towards Jura, the Iron Rock Mage screaming out in pain.
"This scent stimulates every sensation of pain in the opponent. What does it feel like?"
Jura tried to fight it but the pain was too much. It felt like every nerve was on fire and before he could stop himself, he was falling, his staff discarded to his side.
A puff of smoke happened around Ichiya before he vanished, being replaced by two small blue creatures, their appearances almost identical to one another.
"We're back."
"That Ichiya fellow only ever thought about perverted stuff."
"What a worthless adult."
"Now now," came the sound of a voice. "No complaining."
Jura struggled to see the newcomer. "What in the world is…"
"This Magic? Oh, I just copied that dirty old man of yours. And thanks to that, I know everything. That really is a clever plan you all developed."
"Yeah," said one of the blue creatures. "We can tell what the people-
"We copy are thinking," finished the other.
Jura looked up in shock, recognising the woman from the photos they had seen. This was one of Oración Seis. Angel.
"Oh," said Angel suddenly. "This means I've already gotten rid of two of you lot. I guess I'm winning the hunt."
"You…"
Angel laughed. "Look at you. The unmoveable Jura, down on the ground. All you children of the light should stay like that, else I'm afraid you'll have to face the judgement of an Angel."
Jura stared at her in anger before slowly trying to force himself upwards. Before he got far, a knife pierced his skin of his hand and stabbed into the ground. Jura roared in pain but he lost the grip he had managed to regain on his strength and fell back to the floor.
"Sleep now little child. Everything will all be okay soon. You'll learn to love the darkness soon enough."
He heard her walking away as he slowly started to fall unconscious. Was this it? Was this all he could do?
Defeated so quickly before he could do anything to help. He hadn't even been able to see through the disguise and now Angel knew all their plans. She likely had someone nearby to relay them to and then all would be for naught.
And she had the signal flare too. Without it they wouldn't be able to call Ichigo in an emergency. She had effectively taken out two Wizard Saints in one go.
Was this the end? Would they be unable to stop Nirvana from being released?
NO!
His eyes snapped open, one hand slowly reaching towards the blade piercing the other. He gripped the handle and pulled, the blade coming free inch by inch. It was excruciating. The effects of that smell seemed to still be in play, even going as far as to amplify the pain he felt. He kept on though until the blade was freed, letting it fall down beside him.
Gripping his staff in one hand, he pushed himself upwards, getting back to one knee. Then back to one foot. Then finally two. He was up. He had to hurry. He wouldn't let the others pay for his foolishness.
Step by step, Jura rushed as fast as his slow crutched pace could take him. He only hoped he could make it in time.
Protector Of The Fairies
Erza finally managed to catch up to Natsu and slow him down, the others quickly gathering up to them. She quickly counted them off as they passed her. They were short a few.
"Where are Jura and Ichiya?"
The Trimens glanced backwards in shock, regret filling their faces from abandoning their mentor. "Master…"
"Come on already," said Natsu impatiently. "Let's hurry up and get to Oración Seis. I want to fight them already."
"Slow down already hothead," muttered Gray. "Did you even listen to the plan at all?"
"Of course, but I want to pick the best opponent to fight."
Lyon glanced at Gray. "Is that guy an idiot or smart? I seriously can't tell if he is talking about an enemy he can take or an enemy that happens to be the strongest."
"It's Natsu. Of course he wants the strongest. At least he has a straight head while fighting."
"Enough," said Erza to Natsu. "We wait for the others left before attacking. Ignoring that we have Jura with us is the same as taking away at least a third of our total fighting power."
"It is a good thing I am here then."
Erza glanced towards the newcomer. "Jura?"
Jura nodded, taking a few uneven steps towards them. "Sorry I'm late. I ran into some complications along the way."
"What about sensei?" asked Hibiki in concern. "Where is he?"
Jura shook his head. "Ichiya was hurt. He won't be able to catch up with us yet."
"And you left him," said Eve with an accusing look in his eye.
"He told me too. He said that he couldn't risk the lives of his precious students for his own. Your safety was more important than his own to him."
"Master…"
Eve rubbed some tears from his eyes while Ren looked away, pretending that he wasn't affected by it. Hibiki kept glancing at Jura in confusion though. "What was the problem?"
"Oración Seis."
Erza looked at Jura in shock. "Already? How many of them?"
"One. Angel. The rumours about her are true. Call off Christina. NOW!"
Hibiki nodded before activating his Archive Magic, Jura walking up next to him to watch.
"Redirecting," said Hibiki as Jura watched, despite not being able to understand everything happening. "I've sent it away on standby. No point risking keeping her nearby if she'll be destroyed almost instantly."
"I'm always amazed as this Magic." Jura reached towards one of the screens and touched it with him palm. "Incredible Magic. If we were to find Oración Seis, do you think you would be able to track their Magic."
"If I get a good grasp on it, yeah. I should be able to link a tracking system onto the local map and lock onto their positions. I'll need to be able to recognise the Magic first of all so that means finding them originally."
"That is a relief to know."
Hibiki quickly glanced towards a screen that popped up next to him. "There's just one thing I want to know."
Jura looked at Hibiki and frowned. "What is it?"
"Well…" Hibiki spun round, his palm extended and pressed against Jura's chest. Jura reeled backwards, clutching his pain.
"Hibiki!" Erza charged forward but Hibiki held out a hand, forcing them all back slightly. "What are you doing?"
"Relax. I just sent a bunch of garbage data at this guy and caused him to gain a massive headache."
"But why are you doing this to Jura?" said Lyon, Ice Magic building up around him. "He is our ally after all, or have you turned on us?"
Natsu did the same, his body lighting on fire. "If you're with Oración Seis, I'll deal with you personally."
Hibiki just kept up his guard against Jura. "I can do more than just track Oración Seis if I have their Magical Signatures. I can do the same with us. And Ichiya is back at the mansion right now, which does match the story we just heard."
Erza's eyes widened. "And Jura?"
Jura frowned. "What are you talking about? It's me. Don't believe this traitor."
"So why are there two Juras at the moment?"
Everyone moved back from Jura at Hibiki's words, Jura only smirking at the accusation. "You're a smart one"
Pillars of earth and rock shot out of the ground, Erza quickly shot forward and requiped two swords. With a flourish of strikes, the earth shattered, Gray and Natsu sprinting past her.
Natsu quickly jumped at Jura only for the imposter to grab Natsu midair and thrown him away. Instead of trying to break free before being thrown, the flames around Natsu's arms extended outwards and formed flame claws. As he left Jura's arms, the claws wrapped around Jura's midsection and pulled Natsu back towards Jura.
"Fire Dragon's Claw!"
Natsu's feet slammed into Jura's back and pushed him forward, Gray already there to continue the assault.
With one hand clenched over the palm of the other, Magic quickly gathered and shaped. "Ice Make: Ice Hammer!"
From Gray's hands formed a hammer of ice. Without missing a beat, he slammed it at Jura as he was pushed forward, forcing him up slightly into the sky. Lyon was right next to him making the same pose.
"Ice Make: Eagle!"
Eagles of ice shot from Lyon's fists, shooting towards Jura at a quick pace. Jura this time didn't just try to dodge. A flick of his wrist brought forth earth from the ground around him, the eagles shattering against the earth harmlessly.
"I won't let you imitate Jura," said Sherry in anger. "Doll Attack: Rock Doll!"
The earth that protected Jura now turned against him, leaving his defence to form a golem of rock. The golem raised its arms and smashed them down at Jura, the staff the man was using barely coming up in time to block the strike.
Eve may use of that opportunity, his right arm extended towards Jura. "White Fury!"
Snow blasted from his palm, quickly spreading out as if got further away from Eve and intensified in the speed it spun at. By the time it reached Jura, it was already a small snowstorm, capturing Jura within its deadly grasp.
A rock guard came up around Jura but Ren raised his arm and clenched his fist, the defence shattering into smaller pieces. "Aerial." Those pieces then shot towards Jura and shattered as they hit him.
Jura kept up against the bombardment for a moment before finally falling to one knee, his breathing uneven.
"Now then," said Hibiki. "Who are you really?"
Jura smiled sinisterly. "Who do you think?"
A puff of smoke and Jura vanished, two blue creatures being in his place. "I can't believe you saw through us though."
"Yeah, that was so mean. Why couldn't we have our fun?"
"Don't worry Gemini," came a voice as Angel revealed herself from the trees around them. "Go take a break for now."
The two twins vanished in a flash of light as they departed back to the Celestial Spirit World. All the Mages present turned towards Angel, ready to attack. Angel just acted like nothing was wrong though, unafraid of how outnumbered she currently was.
"You know I had quite expected Gemini to be able to use Jura's strength a lot more effectively than they did. I suppose that's what you get when you try and copy someone who's Magical Power far surpasses your own. Got the rough stuff but you really can't imitate the same feats in battle like the original could."
"Surrender," said Erza, one sword aimed at Angel. "You are outnumbered."
"Oh really? I think I'll be alright. I brought backup too."
Erza's eyes widened before shouting to the others. "MOVE!"
They all scattered just in time. No sooner had they done so, the ground had changed to liquid beneath their feet, Hoteye emerging from underneath it with a smile.
"Money is power, yes!"
As they fell back, pain hit them from behind as Racer shot past them all before finally stopping at Angel's side. Cobra quickly jumped out from his resting point in a nearby tree with a smirk, his snake wrapped around him. Finally, Brain and Midnight came forth from below the edge of the cliff, Brain immediately stepping off Midnight's Magic Carpet.
None of the Light Mages said it, but they all felt the same feeling. Dread. They had been warned of Oración Seis's strength. It was why they were to ambush them and fight on their own terms. But now they were the ones being ambushed, and in would be Oración Seis that would have the upper hand here. They were already done two members of their group and each fallen Mage would only decrease their chances of winning.
Natsu smashed his fists together, the fire around him intensifying. "Hold your ground. We aren't out yet."
Natsu's words were enough to snap them out of their dark thoughts, and they latched onto them like they were possessed. Natsu was right. They still stood, and they couldn't give up right now. If they could they would retreat, but this wasn't the time where you could retreat so easily. Oración Seis wasn't likely to let them go after ambushing them as such. They wanted to deal with them all here and now.
Then they would make it hard for the Dark Guild. If they wanted them to run, they would find it harder than they had hoped. They would not flee, they would not fight in fear, they would not falter. They were fighting for more than themselves here, and they couldn't afford to lose.
"You know the plan," said Erza. "Pick your targets. Scatter!"
The Allied Forces shot apart, teaming up with those close to them and charging towards their targets. Lyon and Sherry were the first to reach a member of Oración Seis, charging at Hoteye.
"Doll Attack: Mud Doll!"
From the liquid earth that Hoteye had appeared from formed a large golem head, preparing to swallow Hoteye whole. Meanwhile Lyon brought his hands together and launched constructs of ice towards his opponent.
"Ice Make: Snow Dragon!"
From his grip formed an ice dragon, quickly rushing towards Hoteye and began circling him. Then it tightened the circle, freezing Sherry's doll solid with Hoteye inside.
"Love will prevail," said Sherry as a taunt.
"I'm afraid our opinions will have to differ. Love will always fail against money, yes!"
Sherry and Lyon tries spinning round in time but Hoteye was already moving, an arm extended towards them. "You can't escape me, yes!"
The ground beneath the two Lamia Scale Mages' feet turned to liquid before rising around them like a wave. The waves of ground enveloped them and washed them away, none of them able to do anything as the felt themselves get washed away and crash into the ground. It was like they had stepped in quicksand and had been unable to escape.
Racer observed the three Trimens surrounding him and just sighed.
"Don't think you can escape us," said Hibiki.
"None of you understand," muttered Racer, and then he vanished. Hibiki felt the force of the strike but Racer was already gone, taking down Eve and Ren as he passed them. "I'm the fastest. You can't hope to trap me."
"Already done?" asked Cobra, shouting across the field as he dealt with Natsu. "You're going to ruin all of the fun."
"Don't ignore me," shouted Natsu before slamming himself into Cobra. Cobra winced but forced himself to grab Natsu through the flames surrounding the Fire Dragon Slayer.
"You're tricky aren't you? Want to see something rare?"
Cobra pulled his head back and Natsu realised exactly what he was trying to do. The flames surrounding Natsu went wild as they flew outwards, forcing Cobra to abandon his attack to avoid the blaze. Natsu quickly rushed him, two flame claw arms around his fists.
As the arms shot forward, Cobra leaned to the side, each attack missing him by inches. His own arm shot out and grabbed hold of the flames before pulling, sending Natsu flying towards him. Natsu spun midair and enveloped his feet in flames before expelling them, sending him flying away from Cobra. Cobra just smirked and did what Natsu had stopped him doing before.
"Poison Dragon's Roar!"
A large dose of crimson energy shot form Cobra's mouth, spiralling around in a deadly stream. Natsu brought up his arms, flames wrapping around him.
"Fire Dragon's Wing Attack!"
The flames shot forward to battle the poison, slowing it down in its deadly path. It didn't stop it though, instead breaking through the flames and hitting Natsu directly. As the poison cleared, Natsu fell, coming down to one knee.
"That's interesting. I had expected that to do more to you. Guess other Dragon Slayers would be a bit resilient, especially with those flames of yours. "
Cobra glanced towards Angel and raised an eyebrow. "You really got a lot of them angry didn't you?"
Angel shrugged as best as she could before blocking the axe of Lucy's Spirit, Taurus, with her own Celestial Spirit, Caelum. The strange sphere Spirit had transformed, changing into the shape of a large chisel that was acting as a sword for Angel. Taurus raised his axe for another strike but Angel was quicker, spinning round and slashing through Taurus with ease. "Next."
She suddenly dodged to the side, Gray missing her by inches with a sword made of ice. "You're not getting away from me."
Angel spun round, Caelum's blade smashing against Gray's ice one. "I'm surprised. That's some strong ice there. Exactly what I expected from one of that woman's disciples."
Gray's glare hardened. "You know of Ur?"
"Poor little child. A lot of people know of Ur. To be honest, I'm glad that Demon finished her off. Saves us the problem of having to kill her later on."
Gray saw red. He shot a hand forward, grabbing hold of Caelum. "Freeze." Ice spread from his hand, covering Caelum completely. Angel quickly released hold of the Spirit just in time. A second later and she would have been caught in the ice too.
Attempting to take advantage of Angel's temporary weakness, Gray stepped forward towards her, his sword already slashing at her. In an impressive show of acrobatics, Angel jumped, flipping midair as she brushed past him. Gray realised too late as he saw a glint of gold that he had overextended himself.
In a flash of gold light a dark skinned man appeared, half his hair red while the rest was white. Angel landed softly on the metal like tail, already aimed at Gray. The Spirit didn't even need to be instructed, a blast of sand firing from his tail.
Gray's eyes widened and he found himself blasted away, crashing into Lucy and knocking them both to the ground.
Brain observed the whole thing with a calculating glare, not even bothered by Erza's flurry of slashes. "Is this really all you brought with you?"
Erza snarled, her armour shifted and changing in a flash of light. The new armour that appeared was a very basic guard around her chest in a cheetah pattern with a bit of armour down around her legs and left arm. Brain raised an eye as he noticed the ears and tail that seemed to match the armour. "Cosplay? Really?"
Erza suddenly shot round him, Brain quickly spinning to parry the two claw like attachments that had formed around Erza's hands. "Maybe not Cosplay then. You have some interesting armours there."
"Should I take that as a complement from you?"
"You should. I see now I should have taken you with me all those years ago when I found the others. The Tower of Heaven was an excellent place for gathering strong Mages it seemed."
Erza's eyes widened before quickly striking again, attempting to overwhelm Brain with a mass amount of strikes. Brain felt the strain from blocking them all and knew it was only a matter of time before she managed to break through his guard or that he made a mistake in blocking.
So he didn't leave it to chance. As Erza saw her chance, he cast his own Spell. A transparent green barrier surrounding him, blocking Erza's sudden strike to her shock. She was already jumping backwards, showing her skill at recovering so quickly. He had gotten what he had wanted though.
He shot forward, his fist clenched. Erza brought up the claw daggers to block but he ignored it, smashing his fist against them. A wave of his green darkness Magic shot out around his fist and helped him push forward before finally shooting past Erza's daggers, hitting Erza and sending her backwards.
He couldn't deny that she was skilled, but so was he. And while that armour enhanced her speed dramatically, it had to offer something else in exchange. A lose of defence wasn't too bad if you could make sure you could dodge with the new found speed, but it did mean a hit like his was going to be much harder to shrug off than with any other armour.
"Now Cobra."
Cobra nodded, his snake that had vanished at some point jumping out of the earth, thankfully softened by Hoteye in preparation. Erza moved fast, the snake's fangs only grazing her right arm, but it was enough. Within an instant, she felt the pain, collapsing to the ground as the poison rushed through her body.
Erza tried to stand and Cobra shook his head in amusement. "Don't bother. I doubt you can do much with the poison infecting you. You're just end up suffering in agony for a few hours before finally succumbing to it and ending up dead."
Erza's expression hardened before collapsing back down to the ground. Brain chuckled as he glanced around all of the fallen members of the Allied Forces. "It looks like they are all dealt with."
"Indeed," said Racer. "That was faster than I had expected."
Cobra just sighed. "What should we do now? Shall we go back looking for Nirvana?"
"Damn it," muttered Gray as he glanced around him. Everyone was down, whether it was temporary like Lyon and Sherry in the earth trap or Hibiki and the other Trimens that had been hit by a sudden set of surprise attacks. Natsu looked like he could get back up soon but something was making him slower, and if Natsu couldn't beat one person then there was no way he would be able to defeat all of them.
"Erza," Hibiki called. "Send out a signal. We need reinforcements."
"I can't," said Erza in annoyance. "I don't know how to. Only Jura did."
"I do," supplied Angel helpfully, her tone mocking. "It is surprisingly simple."
Reaching into a pocket inside her dress, she pulled out the signal flare she had taken from Jura. "You just wrap your hand around it, hold it up, and boom, the smoke goes up."
Angel raised the signal flare exactly as she had described. "Like this actually."
And then light shot upwards before exploding into red smoke.
Protector Of The Fairies
Canon. Meet blender. Now let's mix it up a bit and create a whole new set of events for this arc.
So as you saw, things seemed to start off similar. Basically the events with Ichigo added to them, and very little depth compared to some chapters. This chapter was meant to introduce more of Oración Seis in the meeting before the whole failed battle part. Christina is still around however, and we also saw that Angel tried to catch the Allied Forces unaware. But now you all get to wonder one thing. Exactly why did Angel just activate that signal flare?
So did you all prefer it to the previous chapter? Things are all going to change in this arc from here, from the battles to the events happening. And for you Isshin lovers out there, he got a tiny cameo. This does tell you that Ichigo does know where his father is, just that he has never approached him.
As for manga stuff, Bleach is interesting so far. Rukia's ability was an interesting one, better than getting a Bankai in my opinion as why would a Bankai gained so quickly be so much stronger than the other Captains', even when enhanced by the training she would have done. Her ability may make a cameo at some point in the future, or she could even appear. I don't know yet, since a lot of things are in flux till they are written.
As for Fairy Tail, well that was interesting. Face is released, the man who could have activated it remotely is now dead (karma demons), and Fairy Tail just exploded. We may see Lumen Histoire very soon, which will determine whether I will keep with my idea of it or not. Either way, Lumen Histoire still will keep my own twist on it but its power is still debateable at this point.
I've kept you guys here long enough. Don't forget to review. Reviews make me happy, just like every author. I'll see you all next week, unless I end up replying to your reviews in which case it'll be sooner.
Anyway, till the next time. I've been Takei. Thanks for reading.
