Barricade Tape

~•Aden•~

I gave her a questioning look as I couldn't comprehend what she was complaining to me about, only to get an eye roll in response.

"What?" I muttered out as I was completely at a loss. I couldn't understand where she was getting at.

She heaved out a faint sigh and pointed her chin behind me. Without wasting a single second, I turned around to look in the direction she was pointing in only for my eyes to land on a group of boys who were intently staring at us.

I couldn't help but frown when I saw my friends who were still standing in the same spot. The problem wasn't the spot, but the way they were staring in my direction, or more specifically, our direction.

They were staring at me like I was a criminal who had been caught red handed while commiting the worst kind of crime to ever exist. It was fine if it was only me who was being accused, but the way their orbs jumped from me to the lady next to me, told me something else.

I couldn't help but squint my eyes at their figures as I gave them a threatening glare. I turned around to shift my attention back to her.

"Just ignore those morons. They must be curious since when did we start hanging out." I spoke up as I scratched the back of my head meekly.

I didn't know why, but I was feeling a bit nervous now. I didn't know what to say to her instead of asking her to ignore my friends. I really wanted to take her offer. The more time I spent with her, the better I could get to know her.

"You still up for that walk?" She gave me a questioning look as she shifted the topic back to us.

I bobbed my head up and down like a broken doll. Why would I say no to any opportunity which would help me in achieving my goal? I just hoped that I didn't look too eager before her.

"Let's go then." She gave me a faint smile as she turned around to continue in her tracks.

I turned around to glare one more time at my friends only to get a couple of shrugs in return. Shaking my head in utter helplessness, I decided to focus more on the lady and began to follow her tracks.

I could always deal with these morons later on the field, and I knew exactly how I was going to make them pay for their discourteousness. How dare they stare at Amara with their accusing gazes?

"So, how's your palm doing?" I spoke up as I caught up to her.

"I owe you a thanks, I guess." She raised up her palm and showed it to me.

I let my eyes linger over her smooth skin and felt a little relieved when I saw that the redness wasn't as bad as before. The paste was doing it's job pretty well.

"You don't owe me anything. I am just trying to make up to you." I shook my head in a no as I continued to walk next to her.

"And you don't have to make up to me. It wasn't your fault that the magic back fired. Moreover, it didn't hurt that much." She muttered out which only left me speechless.

How didn't it hurt much? She was clearly lying through her teeth. I saw how scalded her palm looked. It was not possible for it to not hurt.

"You sure have a good pain tolerance." I added. She sure was a tough nut, but I had no plans to crack her. I wanted to look after it,

"You can say that." She took a pause and stole a glance at me. "But I have to accept that the damn healing paste sure stings like hell." She continued as the corner of her lips turned up in a lop-sided grin.

"I told you in the note that it will sting, didn't I?" I raised an eyebrow at her.

"Yes, you did. But if I recall it correctly, the words went like, 'it might sting a little bit'." I saw her rolling her eyes as she recalled the words from the note which I had dropped for her with the container.

"Well, yeah!" I nodded my head. "The stinging sensation actually depends on the injury itself. The more tethered the flesh and vessels are, the more it tends to hurt."

"So, you mean that my palm was badly injured." Her words were more like a remark than a question, but I still bobbed my head in response. I didn't want her to think that I wasn't paying attention to her.

"But it looked okay." She continued to which I couldn't help but shrug.

"May be the injury was much more internal than a laceration." I added meekly. I was about to continue further, but my words trailed off when I saw the direction in which we were heading.

What was with me being clueless about my surroundings every single time I was with this girl? We had almost made our way to the backside of the campus and were now heading towards the forest.

"Let me summarize it. The silver spell, which is just an advanced protection spell, managed to tore apart my flesh from the inside with just a mere touch." She continued on with her words, her eyes focused on the trail ahead which was blocked by a barricade tape.

My eyes trailed to the sign board next to the trail which had caution written over it in bold, capital letters. Though the red paint was scraped off from certain places, one could still make the jarring warning.

"Please, tell me that you are not planning to pull off a scene from those abduction movies and kill me after taking me to a secluded place, deep inside the forest."

I muttered out as my steps came to a halt while she continued to walk towards the yellow and white striped tape.

"Maybe yes, maybe no. You will only if you come with me."

She looked over her shoulder and passed me a sinister smile.
