Infernal Creatures

As we made our way back to the seventh floor, I started to pay slightly more attention to the mana. It was then that I realized something else about the mana, it had some infernal mana in it. 'This is really concerning, if there's infernal mana here then this is big,' I though to myself. "Aurelia, I'm not sure if you noticed too but the mana feels... sinister. I think it's infernal mana, we should be even more careful."

"Now that you point that out I notice it too," she said while making herself even more reserved in her actions than before. Despite that I saw a glint of excitement in her eyes, I knew she was excited for the adventure. "I promise that I won't run off on my own."

As we slowly made our way through the forest, a short distance ahead of me I saw light flickering similar to my lightning, but it felt slightly off. I quickly stealthed myself while telling Aurelia to stay behind me as I went to check what it was. I was about fifty feet away when I found my target. In front of me I saw a horned rabbit a little bigger than a small dog with what I could only assume was infernal lightning. There was a light tint of red to the lightning and a feeling of cruelty to that lightning that mine would never have. I was finally close enough to activate appraisal which I quickly did.

Infernal Lightning Rabbit

Rank: High C

Before I did anything I made my way back to Aurelia to give her the news of the changes. "Aurelia we have a problem. Typically on this floor we should find Low C rank Lightning rabbits, it is not that anymore they are now infernal and High C rank."

"Are you serious, that is a huge issue, that means the boss should be a Mid B rank boss now! We should be fine with any of the regular creatures, but boss type creature should have a strength equivalent to one of us. That shouldn't be a problem with both of us teamed up though, so we should be fine, knock on wood." (For those who don't know you knock on wood, or say knock on wood, when you say something that could jinx yourself to counter the jinx.)

Following this we started to wipe out the entire forest finding a variety of smaller infernal monsters, from Linxes, to hawks which were all High C rank. The biggest benefit to all this though was the increased experience as well as the higher quality Mana Cores from what we expected. As I expected when we reached the ninth floor with the larger creatures the rank of the dungeon bumped up to Low to Mid B rank. The biggest problem though should be the now Infernal Lightning Wolf packs, even if each is Low B rank like expected they always travel in packs making them harder to deal with.

"We should allocate our new points before we move on, I'd like at least one skill that can deal AoE damage," I said to Aurelia pondering what kind of skill I should make with my points.

'This should due for now' I think to myself as I finish making my new skill and looking at my stats. 'Let's see if Aurelia has changed anything yet.' As I figured she decided against spending her stat points at this time and will use them at a latter point. Now it's time to fight the wolves, I tightly grip my scythe as we start moving deeper into the forest.

Thank you all for reading, especially those who have stayed despite my infrequent updates, I know I probably would have left by now. If you have any ideas to rename Severing Wave please comment, I couldn't think of anything different. Also sorry for the lack of combat, but the next few chapters will have some combat, so look forward to that. thank you all for reading, if you have any ideas they are always appreciated, especially in how to develop romance in a book, which I would make to sudden. so ideas on how to slowly develop such things would be appreciated.
