The few days Gao Shun was letting his men crash into the enemy lines looking for the weakest link in the defense until he found it when he smirks as if he had already won.
What he didn't know was that Huang Zhong already knew what Gao Shun was looking for as he would do the same in his place when he notices that Gao Shun was smirking making him turn towards Xu Shu and Guang Jia.
"It seems our enemy has found out where the weakest link is in our line," says Huang Zhong seriously wanting to know their suggestions since this was more like a lesson for the young strategists since Huang Zhong has already something in mind.
"I would suggest exchanging the person with another one person for tomorrow. We can't run the risk of being broken through," says Xu Shu as he was suggesting something that Huang Zhong had thought about but someone like Gao Shun would see through it and attack where the weakest link is at the moment.
"It is good but you are underestimating the enemy. Gao Shun is known as an intelligent person. He will see that we have changed the spot of the person," says Huang Zhong praising and teaching Xu Shu about his mistake.
"How about we let them break through the first line. We could trap them by placing our weakest link to the nearest part facing the hill we have the cavalry hidden. Once they break through we call the cavalry and let them kill the enemy," says Guang Jia giving her suggestion to Huang Zhong who liked that strategy as well just that it had one flaw and it was the man sitting on a horse across of them.
"It would be a perfect plan but the enemy has the best Cavalry General on their side and Wei Yan has almost no experience in fighting on horses. He would be massacred in front of us all and the would only lower our high morale," says Huang Zhong praising her as well before telling her the mistake she hadn't counted in the biggest threat from involving the cavalry which is Lu Bu.
"What do we do then?" asks Xu Shu curious about what Huang Zhong wanted to do to counter the enemy's strategy.
"If they want to use pressure we only have to make way normally. Guang Jia is right we need to trap them but what both of you don't know is that I set up a trap the last few days," says Huang Zhong as the two strategists looked at him curiously.
"You are still young but our Lord even young understood one thing quite clearly. On the battlefield, there is no honor just the victor and the vanquished. You need to have wits and outsmart your opponent if you are a General as well as Strategist," says Huang Zhong when he points at the weakest link.
"Do you think he is the weakest link?" asks Huang Zhong as he pointed at a man in his thirties.
He was quite a bit muscular compared to the others when Xu Shu and Guang Jia realized something. The man wasn't breathing heavily any longer as if everything was an act.
"You realized it," says Huang Zhong with a smirk on his face.
"Sometimes you need to created your own weakness to trap your enemy. Tomorrow Gao Shun will try to break through the line by overwhelming him. What he doesn't know is that he isn't our weakest link but is feign to be it," says Huang Zhong teaching the strategists something using his experience on the battlefield.
"You did that on purpose just to trap the enemy," says Xu Shu a bit surprised that Huang Zhong was planning that far ahead.
"A battle between two parties normally lasts for weeks and you need to find the weaknesses of the enemy to win against them. But some of those weaknesses could just be a trap so you need to make sure that said weakness is one for real and not just the scheme of the enemy," says Huang Zhong teaching them since they will be soon assigned to younger people that won't have his experience.
"Our Lord left you and the other strategists behind so you can learn from us older generals since you don't have much experience and are young which can lead to overconfidence. He wants you to stay under him for a long time and making a mistake can lead to your death," says Huang Zhong warning them since on the battlefield only a dead enemy is a good enemy since he couldn't attack you again.
"Also, the Lord should be already on his way," says Huang Zhong knowing that this battle would soon come to an end since Lu Bu doesn't want to lose his men to Yun and the same can be said for Yun.
"When will the Lord return?" asks Guang Jia as Huang Zhong began to think.
"In three days is my opinion," says Huang Zhong guessing about it.
"Once he arrives this battle will be over?" asks Xu Shu thinking that it would be too simple.
"You don't know the history between our Lord and Lu Bu, do you?" asks Huang Zhong as the strategists look at him curiously.
"Lu Bu's daughter is promised to the Young Master. It was arranged when the Young Master was only three and his fiancee was still a babe," says Huang Zhong informing the two strategists.
"Wait, are they friends?" asks Xu Shu in disbelief as Huang Zhong nods.
"They are, but in this world, we can't decide who we have to fight. Lu Bu gave his wife and daughter to our Lord before we faced off on a plain to keep them safe knowing that Dong Zhuo would lose to the Coalition. We have been protecting them for a while now and if Yun returns the fighting will be over and he will most likely return them to Lu Bu," says Huang Zhong as he was still attentive to the battlefield.
"The enemy is retreating again," says Xu Shu as Huang Zhong could see that.
"Tomorrow will be the deciding day. If our line holds them back we win and they will need to retreat completely since they will go all out tomorrow," says Huang Zhong seriously as he knew that Lu Bu is desperate.
In the meantime on the other battlefield, Xian was standing on the wall looking towards the enemy that was standing out of their archers' range.
"What are they waiting for?" asks Zhuge Liang standing beside Xian.
"They are waiting for the other ones to break through Huang Zhong and the others to attack us from two sides. But they are also holding us here so we can't send reinforcements," says Xian as he looked at the enemy not moving forward nor retreating from where they were camping.
"I can see that Lu Bu sent his most trusted General to keep us in check," says Xian recognizing Zhang Liao on the other side.
"You know the man?" asks Zhuge Liang as Xian nods.
"He was at the wedding of my son with his Lord," says Xian surprising Zhuge Liang.
"Pardon?" says Zhuge Liang as Xian told Zhuge Liang about the relationship between Yun and Lu Bu.
"So we are housing the wife and daughter of Lu Bu the whole time," says Zhuge Liang as Xian nods again.
"That is why they haven't attacked with archers since an arrow is blind and they don't know where their Lord's wife and child is at the moment. They could be right behind this wall and if they die you have their blood on your hands. That's why they haven't used them," says Xian as he ordered the soldiers to control everyone entering and leaving Puyang from the other gates since they could be spies.
"So we are playing the waiting game," says Zhuge Liang as Xian nods.
"It might not be glorious but it is an effective way against this enemy," says Xian as a soldier arrives with two bowls of food.
Xian and Zhuge Liang began to eat while looking at the enemy which seemed to do the same when Zhuge Liang asks, "Why aren't we attacking them now?"
"The same reason why they aren't attacking us. You don't attack a starving Tiger but leave it alone," says Xian as he ate his meal slowly while looking at the enemy.
"Yun should return soon," says Xian while eating.
"Is he?" asks Zhuge Liang as Xian nods with confidence.
"We only have to wait at least two more days until this conflict is over since we will be having the upper hand once the other army joins us. Also, Yun has his way with Lu Bu," says Xian as he finished his meal waiting for his enemy's next move.
The next day arrived and Xian could see a dust cloud rising from the southwest of Puyang when he says, "The battle seems to be over by the end of today."
On the other battlefield a bit earlier, Huang Zhong was sitting on his horse seeing the enemy approach with Gao Shun leading the charge.
"Prepare for the clash. It will be the last push the enemy will attempt. Hold the line and we will be the victors," says Huang Zhong to the men as he looks to the archers and commands, "Begin to shoot once the enemy is in range."
Huang Zhong was ready to face Gao Shun as Gao Shun rushed into the line right where he thought the weak link was only to find out that he ran into a trap. The moment the line didn't break as he wanted they got surrounded and Lu Bu entered the field to save his General.
Huang Zhong saw that Lu Bu moved and he looks at Xu Shu and says, "Give Wei Yan the signal to flank the enemy."
"Yes, sir," says Xu Shu as he looked at the person with the drum who began to give the signal.
Wei Yan heard the signal and looked at the battlefield and he says to his men, "Alright, it is our time to shine! Let us show them what happens when they come to take our home!"
Wei Yan leads the cavalry charge surprising Lu Bu and Gao Shun when Huang Zhong was about to leave his position and charge at Lu Bu as well.
He didn't want Wei Yan to lose his life while fighting Lu Bu when he feels the ground shaking and if he could feel the ground shaking that means that the enemy was feeling the same.
"What is going on?" asks Guang Jia confused as well as scared because she was thinking that it was an earthquake that is shaking the ground.
"The Lord has returned," says Huang Zhong as the next he was seeing coming from the southwest was a cavalry led by a night blue horse with a man sitting on it holding a spear.
