Morton stared at Halia's face in detail as she laughed and suddenly felt his heart race. He had just met this woman for the first time and he didn't even know her name, but she felt so familiar.
"Have we met before?" he asked with slight confusion on his face.
Halia quickly stopped laughing and looked away, "No...we've never met before."
Morton scanned his eyes up and down the woman. He was certain that he had seen her before, but he couldn't quite pinpoint it at that moment. After all, the apartment was dimly lit, so he couldn't see her properly.
Halia cleared her throat awkwardly as the man continued to stare at her. "Let's go to the other room," she reminded as she started to lead the way.
"Oh, yes!" Morton immediately snapped out of his daze.
He then went to unlock the door of the other bedroom.
As soon as they stepped inside, Morton closed the door and Halia went to switch on the lights.
