The royal library

"Young miss…. Young miss…YOUNG MISS!"

I woke up startled by someone's loud voice.

"What are you doing here" asked a man in a uniform…? An imperial soldier?!

"um-nothing.. why?" I asked.

"Why you say? You were sleeping in the royal garden" he said aggressively.

"Who said I was sleeping? I was not." I lied to him. "You were" he argued. "Was not" I argued back. "Young miss you have drool all over your face who are you trying to trick" he told me off.

"I'm sorry I didn't know it was the royal garden. It was nighttime and I am new to the area, I had nowhere to go and then saw this beautiful garden of yours I must have dosed off while resting. Please don't arrest me." I explained to him very quickly pleading not to take any action against me. From what I heard the King and his men were very strict and I was not very keen on being imprisoned.

I pleaded the guard for some time and at last his eyes grew kinder and I could feel like he was worried about me.

"So you say you have nowhere to go?" he asked.

"Yes…That's the case…" I told him sheepishly.

"There is a job opening in the palace for the Prince's maid, the maids in palace gets to live in the maid's quarters. It's not bad, you want to apply for the post? I will recommend you." He asked me.

"OF COURSE YES PLEASE!" I half-yelled it. Food and shelter. I need them.

I followed him to the palace to the kitchen. There was the head of the housemaids. After the guard explained my situation to him she scanned me from head to toe. After that she said in a loud voice that startled me.

"This won't do!" she said. I blankly stared at her. She rushed me from doors to doors and finally into a room which was rather old. There she found some black and white traditional maid's clothing and handed them to me. She told me to wear that and then come to her.

And so I did that and she scanned me again.

"Okay you look good enough. I had a few other candidates for this position but quite frankly you are the most pitiful and the guard recommended you so I'll give you the opportunity to be the prince's maid. Don't make a mess of yourself and if you have any questions ask me. Ok now go and tend to him." she ordered me and rushed back to the kitchen.

I had no idea where the prince was so I roamed around the castle and found very large rooms and stuff but couldn't find a single person to ask where the prince was!

Then I found a library there and because noone was around I decided to take a look inside. It was a very big library and it looked like it was never-ending. It was filled with books of all types I even found books on insects too. That got me a bit immersed and I must have been distracted by everything because before long I forgot the reason why I was there and started exploring.

After looking at the books for a while I felt like something dropped beside me. I looked at it and it turned out to be a very thick book. I would have had a bad headache if I was just a step to the right!
