We went to a nearby barbershop in the neighbourhood Bob knew of and knocked on the door. Seeing no one answering, we let ourselves in as the front door was open. However, a sense of irregularity hit me as I realised how strange it was.
Where was the owner? Or rather, why did the world suddenly turn quite as soon as we walked in?
"It's been a long time..." A familiar voice entered my ears as I looked at the appearing figures in shock.
It had been ten years since I saw that faceless head of the man who introduced himself to me as Enigma, and even to this day, he seemed to live up to his name as I knew nothing of his intentions.
Some things seemed to make sense, but other things just didn't fit. I had memories Chaos had passed along to me after we fused and knew the general outline of what was happening in the Holy War, but knew nothing about the specifics.
"Who is this thing...?!" Bob was shaking in fear as he seemed ready to attack Enigma any time.
"Mom! Oh how I missed you so~!" The faceless man suddenly made Bob shellshocked by his next words. The swordsman beside me looked between Enigma and I with disbelief written on his face.
"I am not your-"
"I could've called you 'Dad' before, but after you chose to become a woman. I decided against it."
"Why are you acting so childishly?!"
"Hehehe, look at his face~" Enigma pointed to Bob who wordlessly opened and closed his mouth.
"I am NOT his Mom. We're not even blood-related one bit." He seemed relieved by this answer.
"As expected of our Eldest Sister. What a ma- I mean 'woman'! You have a way with words.
"...Just shut your mouth."
"..." He's definitely making 'that face' in response.
"Stay quiet for a minute." He nodded his head when I changed my wording. I looked at Bob's confused face again and sighed inwardly as this was just too complicated to explain at once.
"Who is this guy?"
"The new 'Eclipse God'. This guy is a fusion between the Sun God and Moon God of the past."
"So the tales were true..." He muttered as he turned to look at Enigma with strange eyes.
"Wait, fused?" He caught onto a certain point.
"Anyway, he calls me his 'eldest sibling' and even teases by calling me 'dad' since I seemed to have existed before he did. Not only that but I also seem to be the reason he came alive in the first place."
"You have screwed up family dynamics..." Bob shook his head as he barely accepted my words.
Seeing that he finally had at least the basic level of satisfaction from my words, I turned to Enigma:
"What are you here for...? I thought you'd ignore me for the rest of my life and stay in your 'room'."
"I came to pass on something and to give you are warning." The jovial tone in his voice vanished.
"Heh, you want to 'warn' me~ I'm so happy my little brother is starting to take care of his sister." A coldness appeared in my eyes as well since my other 'siblings' haven't made a good impression.
"You misunderstood. I'm not threatening you in any way, I am just passing on what I have calculated."
"...What do you mean?" This felt worse than being threatened since I didn't like the implications.
"You have been too selfish ever since you came to this world, and now you've even attached yourself like a parasite to this ordinary man. Do you think the law of casualty to be a joke?" Enigma scoffed.
"It has been ordained that your accomplice will die tonight. His heart will be pierced by a sword." The words he spoke had great confidence behind them as if he had seen this 'future' with his own eyes.
"...Stop messing around already." The first thing he does after meeting us is say this kind of joke?
"I'm surprised you didn't attach me for telling you this. Do you believe I'm joking around right now?"
"Why would you suddenly come NOW and tell me his future?" Even if it's true, it didn't make sense.
"You messed up my scenario..."
"...What?"
"I reincarnated you into this world so you could one day become the absolute ruler of it. The moment you rejected Chaos was when my plans had gone off the rails." His eyes turned to look at Bob. He stepped before him and looked down on him.
"...Who is this Chaos guy?" Oh yeah, I hadn't told him anything about my 'common sense' before.
"Oi, Enigma, you jerk, get out of his face! Sorry about this 'brother' of mine. Anyway, let's just say that I broke up with him. He's just my ex." I tried pulling out a story from thin air at that moment.
"When you were a guy?"
"Yep."
"Chaos is also a guy though." Enigma stepped in and derailed the conversation, causing me to choke. This fricking son of a- Why the hell did he have to say that?! Look at Bob's expression...!
"Oh, and also your little brother." The jerk continued as if he was enjoying this scene.
"...You told me you were straight! You lied to me!"
"I am totally straight! There's a complex and strange set of circumstances happening right now!" I don't know how this topic changed so fast but I seriously won't accept this misunderstanding!
"You're bent line can't be considered straight in this lifetime... No wonder." He shivered a little.
Wait... Oh hell! I can sense his thoughts...!
"I was part of Chaos once." I finally told him. This caused him to look at me with puzzled eyes again.
"We were part of the same individual."
"You mean... you were the same person?"
"Then I split from that 'individual' and decided to become my own woman. Strong and independent."
"She wanted to become an Eve~" Enigma butt in once again as he started talking in a cryptic way.
"There is a story about humanity being conceived from the first Humans on Earth, Adam and Eve. A loving pair indeed, especially since Eve was created from his rib and therefore his sister." This divine jerk spoke as he 'winked' at Bob.
In order to give context, I shared some relevant memories with him to fill in the gap. I don't like the way this guy is taking down on a major part of the creation myth that is used in various religions.
"Did you come here to show me the path of atheism and how the 'Big Bang' started it all? Of course, I bomb 'creating an entire planet' by coincidence after many millennia of time makes more sense than a God creating it. Shouldn't a God like you not be so prejudice?" Wait, why am I trying to defend the faith of God in front of a God...?
Again, I sent Bob some context for reference.
"Well I guess the myth itself doesn't matter. What DOES matter is who you consider to be Adam? Is he the person you were 'born' from or is he this random guy you picked up out of nowhere?"
"I was independent the moment I came to this world. Why are you so interested in my decision?"
"I just want to see you happy. I already know of your plans and the 'last card' you're relying on, but I will tell you right now. It won't ever work." Enigma said knowingly as if destiny was already written.
"Let me give you a brief overview of what I have calculated: Firstly, you two will attempt to save the young girl named Madeline tonight. You will get halfway through your plan before everything turns awry. That swordsman will die, and out of despair of her father's death, the daughter will follow. A similar course of events will follow even if you choose not to save her tonight." He explained as if he had been watching how we acted all this time.
"...Why do I feel you don't like me?"
"Of course I like you. You are my 'Eldest Sister' after all. However, I am disappointed in you."
"Why?"
"You have not matured... Even now, you tend to rely too much on power and cut off bonds easily."
"Hey, I'm a changed person now!"
"Are you?" He asked with great doubt.
"Name me three friends of yours."
"Sapphire, Bob, and..."
I hesitated for a bit before saying:
"...Anna."
"Your nanny doesn't count."
"Mark."
"Your uncle doesn't count in this as well."
"Merilin."
"Family members of any kind doesn't count."
"...Jack?"
"Are you really going to call the guy you actively forget due to petty reasons your friend?" He put forth a really good point as I shut my mouth. This guy... It's not MY fault I couldn't make friends.
"You made me an F Rank."
"So?"
"I turned into a social outcast because of you."
"You're saying you tried to be anything less?"
"But I've changed after leaving Chaos."
"You call latching onto someone 'changing'. I guess you have changed in how you've become a parasite- No, a mere 'shadow' that clings to someone else instead of living for itself." He shook his head with disappointment in his eyes.
"You already know of my 'last card', and you still say that?" I brought up very important matter
"What's this 'last card'?" Bob interrupted as he could only barely keep up thanks to me 'sharing' my memories and thoughts. I didn't avoid answering him that since I'd say it anyways:
"I've already thought of triggering my Evolution Phenomenon using Lilith as the medium."
To understand what I'm talking about. Let us just confirm that although Monsters appear randomly in the Dark Forest, they all seem to have a preordained purpose after they are born.
It is like how Goblins be wicked in order to one day evolve, or how even the worst of Monsters grow stronger from 'destruction'. There was no ONE way to deal with them or evolutionary path they can take; the only difficulty was 'significance'.
Only by doing what can be vaguely defined as a significant action can cause a phenomenon.
"You're planning to eat the apple just like Eve herself, I see. Is this to become 'real' again?"
"..." Bob seemed to catch on to something. He then rolled his eyes before asking straightforwardly:
"Why don't you want to 'evolve'?"
"..." For once, I couldn't answer him.
"Don't you get it? She can have 'independence' from you as well once she evolves. Or maybe it's because her next evolution will turn her into a Monster of the Blood Attribute?" He seemed to now understand my intentions upon hearing that.
I turned to look at Enigma and asked myself:
"Does intelligence make us corruptible? Even so, I would rather be a Demon than a mindless doll."
"You don't know the beauty of the 'mindless'." He no longer pretended to be jovial while retorting.
"Only when you start growing beyond your 'self' and start thinking about others will you be worthy to be considered the Eldest Sibling. Let me give you another advice. Don't you dare 'evolve' if you ever want to see him again. I'll alter your position once you've finished your evolution." Enigma again went into some cryptic nonsense I didn't get.
"Where do you plan on taking me?"
"A better place for making friends, you loner. Oh and I almost forgot, this is your proof of Divinity." A small object was thrown into my hand. I was really surprised after recognising what the item was.
"Where did you get this?"
"You brought it with you and left it in my 'room' after going into hibernation. Be sure to keep it with you as it is 'proof' that might end up saving your friend and changing his fate." I smiled in return.
"So what will be my name as a God?"
I don't care what Enigma says about 'fate'. I have no idea what this faceless idiot is hiding from me about my future, but it shouldn't be that bad. I'm confident I can take on Specialists by myself.
"From this day forth, your title will be-"
I felt a ripple go through me as if the very nature of my existence changed with his next words:
"Bullet Goddess!"
It’s the 70th chapter! Now I’m feeling like I’m on a roll! Guess this is the first time I’ve updated so much. I feel a great sense of accomplishment from updating despite the lack of time I have these weeks.
