[Wednesday, Registration]
"GUYS!"
First thing on a Wednesday morning and Sean runs in nearly late and screams in both mine and Ethan's ears, alerting the class to his presence before they all carried on doing whatever it is background characters do.
"What is it? Why are you so loud at 8:30 in the morning?" I said, rubbing my pained ears.
"So, I was walking to school and thought of something we can do today."
Well is he going to tell us?
"Well, are you going to tell us?" Ethan read my mind and asked without me having to waste any effort. What a good friend
"Wait for it, here it comes, Any moment now."
When is just going to say it?
"TRUTH OR DARE! DUN DUN DUUUUUUN"
Wow, it even comes with its own little jingle. What a great game.
"No thanks." I was out instantly. I don't hate the game but it wasn't going to be Truth or Dare. It was just going to be 'Truth'.
"Wait, hang on a minute, Owen." Ethan said. "I think we should play at least one go each."
What is he planning? I don't like whatever it is he is planning. Whenever he plans something it always ends up messing up in some way. Which means I only have one choice.
I shall destroy his plan and make it so he has the worst experience possible.
"Ok, I'm in."
"You sure changed quick. What made you change your mind?" Ethan asked.
"Oh, nothing. As you said, we should all get at least one go, and if we enjoy it we can carry on."
"Perfect. Let us begin." Sean said, pleased we were all joining. "I shall start as I suggested it. So go on ask me. Truth or dare."
The rules for the game were simple. You get asked Truth or Dare, you say which one you want and if it's Truth you have to answer a question. If it's Dare you must do something. Seems easy on the surface, but Ethan clearly has something clever up his sleeve.
"Ok Sean, Truth or Dare."
"Hmmm. I shall go for Truth." Well, the game of Truth is off to a good start.
"Who in our class do you have your eye on? If you know what I mean? wink wink" Ethan asked straight away, this must have been a planned question.
I knew it would come to this. It always ends up like this. It's almost like we are living in a romance novel.
"I think I know what you mean." Sean had caught on to Ethan's drift.
"Kaylee," Sean said with a deadpan face.
"Wa...Wah?" Ethan was shocked and unsure of how to go about this. He thought the bro code was enough, but apparently, it is not. Even I was surprised at first. It was going to be tough supporting both of them.
"Come on Sean. You're joking, right? Right?" Ethan was shaking with fear, he knew he couldn't beat Sean in a game of love.
Sean's expression didn't change, he didn't even move or blink he was stuck like that forever.
"Ok. Ethan. Truth or Dare?" said Sean.
It was obvious Sean was joking. Kaylee sits in a direct line from Sean's seat so Sean took what Ethan said literally and used it against him. Well played Sean. Well played.
"T-truth." He was still devastated but at least he got his words out.
"Hmmm." Sean was thinking and I wanted to try and think of something clever that he had to answer. I should assume that we are only going to do one round so I should make it count. Sean wasn't going to come to an answer anytime soon so I have time to think.
I looked around the classroom to get some ideas. It was obvious he was going to say Kaylee for anything love related so that was off the table. Unless I take her out of the equation.
Ah! I got it.
"Out of everyone in our class who would you date? Excluding Kaylee." I can't believe it was that simple. A simple exclusion was all I needed.
"Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm." Ethan sat there thinking for what felt like a long time. He continued to hum like a broken light until it dinged and he sat upright in his chair.
"I guess I would pick Ruby. She has a nice figure, she is really talented and is kinda cute from time to time. The way we describe her doesn't do her justice. She may not beat Kaylee in one department but that is ok. I don't mind all that much. Plus Kaylee isn't that big either."
For some reason, I don't like his answer. It was an answer that only an idiot would say. But I can agree with him in one aspect I guess.
"Ok, Owen. Your turn. Truth or Dare."
I knew that Ethan probably already had a question for me, as well as a dare. Whatever he has planned I can't escape from. I just have to hope for the best and finish this game of Truth.
"Truth."
Ethan started to act smug. I started to think of the possibility that he wasn't planning anything but looking at him now, he might be planning something. But it is only a question, how bad can it be?
"Who, in our class, would you like to marry?"
The question was tame, but also really annoying. I've never really thought about it before.
"Hmmm. I'd say. No one."
"Come on, you have to say, someone." Sean got involved.
"But there has to be someone? How about we name everyone in our class and see who you react to?"
What is with this strange analysis of me? What exactly is he trying to get me to achieve?
"Ok. If I had to pick SOMEONE. I guess. Hmm. No not them, they are annoying. I guess it could be. No no."
"Hurry up. We don't have all day." Ethan was getting impatient. Sean had given up and it was clear he didn't care anymore despite it being his idea.
"Ok, who do you want me to say? Cause the answer is no one but who should I say to make you happy?"
If I was to figure out his plan I may as well just ask upfront.
"Ruby. I wanted you to say Ruby."
"Yuck… No thanks." Yeah, I'm not saying that. I think I'll just do what Sean said and say Kaylee to annoy Ethan.
"I pick Kaylee."
Ethan was shocked again. He looked at Sean, who had headphones in and wasn't listening anymore, and back at me. He pulled out a piece of paper and started drawing a love triangle on it. Well, it wasn't a triangle, the amount of people that claim to like this one girl is a lot.
"Why did you want me to say Ruby?" I asked.
"Err. No reason. just thought. you know."
"What… What are you hiding?" He was acting too suspicious for me not to be cautious. I didn't want to accidentally step on a landmine and be forced into a year of bullying. Ethan is famous for burying landmines and triggering them himself.
"Nothing, Nothing. Honestly. I just thought. You Two. Are Cute. Together. That's all."
Ew. Why do people keep thinking this? She isn't exactly annoying but I can't imagine putting up with her for longer than an hour. It's why I treasure the weekends so much. I don't have to worry about idiots.
"Well, it's clear we all lied so let's just call it a day." I said.
"I didn't lie. Did you guys lie?" Ethan is so gullible that it makes me feel bad.
"Let's all just agree that we all lied and forget this ever happened." I said,
"But I didn't lie. Lying isn't part of the game" Replied Ethan, he continued to jab into me with his words.
"Ethan. Let's all agree. That we lied. ok?" I become more adamant with my words.
I stared Ethan down hoping he will give up this time. He looked like a scared cat that just had encountered a huge beast and seemed to want to give up this time.
"Ok. Ok. we all lied."
Ugh, something about this was very tiring, and hearing Ethan say he didn't lie makes me even more exhausted for some reason. Perhaps school just drains me.
