FLASHBACK - Connecting the dots

Kate finally had some time for herself. She started thinking about all the things that had happened in the past few months. Ashton, approaching her, dating her, having sex with him, then suddenly Susie's confession which came out of nowhere, Susie's suicide, Ashton acting all weird and finally she getting to know that she was being used from the beginning. There was something that she was missing out, a single thread that could connect all these events. But what was it? Only two people could answer this question. Susie and Ashton himself. But Susie was dead and Ashton wasn't really an option. Suddenly Kate thought of something, or rather someone - a third person, who might know the truth. Ashton's sister. But why would she rat out Ashton, unless, she gets a reason to?

One thing that most people didn't know about Kate was that she had an IQ of 165, which meant that she could possibly learn every thing quite easily, and she was extremely sharp. The only person who knew this was Susie, who was now dead. So now no one alive knew this about her. Or, that's what she thought.

As Kate was a bit calm now, she started thinking about everything in a calm manner. When she thought about it, Susie was a smart girl as well. And the fact that she dated Ashton, had not affected her at all, nor did it seem like she actually liked him, orelse why would she even introduce him to her in the first place. Again, she came at a dead end. But one thing she was clear about was that Susie's suicide was not a simple thing. There was something she was trying to tell Kate, but couldn't which eventually led to her suicide or her death.

In these train of thoughts, Kate got so lost that she didn't notice that her food feeding nurse was already inside her room and staring at her. She noticed her when the plate and spoon made some noise. It was lunch time already. Kate looked at her and smiled, the nurse smiled back.

"Feeling better?" the nurse asked.

"Yes. Thank you." said Kate.

"Not a problem." said the nurse while smiling.

Then the nurse started preparing her plate when suddenly Kate spoke again.

"Have we met somewhere before?"

"Us? I don't remember actually, but I feel the same way honestly."

"Oh" Kate immediately felt silent.

"Don't tell me you were thinking about where you have met me, all this time?"

"umm, sort of" Kate didn't feel it was necessary to tell the nurse what she was actually thinking about, so she immediately took up the nurse' excuse.

"Don't think too much. Rest well, that's all you need to know."

Kate nodded.

"If you don't mind, what exactly happened? I mean I know you had a hormonal imbalance, but something must have caused it right?"

"Uh, yeah, break-up" Kate decided to keep it short.

"Oh.... Teenagers nowadays think that after breakups their lives are over and they won't find anyone for the rest of their lives or rather they won't be able to love someone else for their entire lives. But it's not like that. If you don't end up with someone that simply means that the person was never meant to be with you from the beginning. Yes, it's very easy to say it but hard to implement in life, but trust me I have been through that phase as well."

"Then what did you do?" Kate was getting bored anyways so she thought of having a conversation with the nurse while eating.

"Me? Yeah I did cry once but then I promised to myself I'll never cry for that person ever again, or rather any guy. You see, they lose someone that loved them but I lost someone who didn't love me, so it's their lose only."

"I guess that makes sense."

"So believe me when I say, you'll find the right one, everyone does."

"And how will I be able to identify that, that person is the right one?"

"We'll, I can't explain it in words, you'll just get it on your own. It's like you'll love that person even for his flaws and uplift him even when no one else does, even when he's at his lowest. He won't ever let you lose your respect. Maybe something like that, as I said I don't exactly know how to explain it."

"That's fine. Thank you for this much. I'll always remember these words."

The nurse nodded and smiled, then took Kate's plate which was now empty and turned around to leave. While closing the door she looked once more at Kate, who was again looking outside the window, deep in thought.

"Such an innocent child" murmured the nurse and closed the door and left.

Is there too much suspense? Any theories??

(maybe some power stones then? *puppy dog eyes*)
