File 9: Ambushed and Changed

After the Conversation (referring to the last chapter)

"Ran-san, are you okay?"

"Ryoko-san... I'm fine. I just wanna go home and rest for a while."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

"You should push yourself too much, Ran. If there is anything that you want, tell me, okay?"

"Thank you, Ryoko-san."

Miku walks away.

Her phone rings.

Nagisa sensei's phone number.

"Hello? Nagisa sensei?" Miku answers the call.

"Karma asks if you want to come with us to Beika Park. He wants to talk to you about something."

"Oh, okay. I'm coming."

Miku rushes to Beika Park. (A lot of things seem to happen in Beika Park, probably because that's the only park I remember from Detective Conan...)

Time Skip

"I'm... Here, Nagisa sensei and Akabane-san."

Miku runs all the way to Beika Park, where she meets Karma and Nagisa, still catching her breath.

"I remember, Akabane-san, do you have something to talk about?"

"Yes. It's about you. Kazami."

Eh? Kazami? Who's that? Why does it sound so familiar? Miku thought.

"I don't think I understand. Who's Kazami?"

"My missing younger sister. The hair colour is just like yours, eyes just like yours. You two look too similar to be separate people." Karma's eyes stare right into Miku.

"I don't recall you have a younger sister, too, Karma," Nagisa says in confusion.

"She was missing since she's 4. We are 6 years apart, so ti was before I met you in middle school. I hadn't talked about her since then, so of course, you don't know."

"But you sure she's Kazami?"

"Yeah. I'm sure."

"Um, Akabane-san, Nagisa sensei, can we please walk into the park for the talk? I mean, the subjects are more suitable inside than standing in front of the gates..." Miku says.

"Fine. We're going in." Karma says.

"Okay," Nagisa says.

They all walk into the park in silence.

It's getting awkward.

Miku can feel the atmosphere's tense.

Then she feels a sudden sip of danger.

Something, aiming directly at Karma and Nagisa, comes flying by.

They are bullets.

In quick steps and pivots, Miku charges. In her sleeves, appear two daggers, blocking the bullets.

Loki, if that is true, in my dreams... If that is true that I can be your daughter, that I will be able to remember who I was, then...

I will have the blessing of yours to save what I treasure the most!

The golden eyes turn green.

A quick flip change and the daggers turn into cards, sparkling with green flames.

"Thank you, Loki. I remember now...

"I am Kazami Akabane, and my brother is Karma Akabane. I will vow to protect my family and friends, the things that I treasure the most!"

"Oh? So you're the assassin apprentice of Nagisa Shiota, the pure assassin from class 3-E in Kunugigaoka Junior High School. Seems that you have quite some skills." A sly, woman's voice comes from the darkness within the trees.

I don't recognise these movements. I never taught her that. Nagisa thought, But more importantly, who is this person? How does she know that we are assassins?

"Though more effort will be useless. You all are going to meet your end today." A slender woman figure steps out of the bushes, follow in a group of other women.

"Further resistance will get you nowhere, Ryoko-san. Lower your weapons." Nagisa looks at the people surrounding them. They all have at least a gun and a knife. It will be useless to struggle.

"Nagisa-niisan... I will stop them. Don't worry." Miku, sorry, Kazami gives Nagisa a sly smile full of bloodlust, making Nagisa shiver, "Onii-san, I will be alright." She says to Karma.

Karma just stares.

Is she my Kazami?

Kazami stares at her enemies, inhale, exhale.

Rise up one card and, "Swipe-", it hit right on the leader's forehead.

"It doesn't matter who you are, just tell your little b**ch group this: Go back to where you come from and kill yourself because you're such a disgrace," Kazami says in the lady's mind.

The card disappears into a green flame and the leader's eyes some to lost her white, for reference, see Loki in the Avengers, when he mind controls Hawkeye and so on.

"Yes, Kazami-sama." She says and leads the group away.

Some, or half of them, rebelled against the leader's orders and remained. By half, it's about 10-15 of them.

"To think that some of you lot are more loyal to the Bloody Mary Rose's boss more than your squad's leader, huh?" Kazami snickers.

"Don't think that you were able to control our leader, we will follow her!" One of them says.

"Oh? So you think that I can only mind control? How naive."

Kazami reaches out her hand, then pulls her middle finger back, then the thumb to the front, nearly touching the middle finger.

It's hard to see, but Nagisa and Karma can see the slight presence of sharp wire.

Kazami set a trap for the remaining group. She knew they won't follow the leader from the start.

"A-amazing..." That's only what Karma can manage. Nagisa looks in awe.

I never thought that Ryoko-sa-eh no, Kazami can be so good in setting traps and be able to predict the fact that there will be remaining enemies! Nagisa thought.

"And so..." Kazami takes out some card again and sticks them on the enemies' foreheads.

Kazami mostly repeated what she said before to the leader, and release them from the trap. They slowly walk away.

The eye colour of Kazami Akabane returns from green to golden.

"Onii-san!!!" Kazami hugs Karma.

"Eh? Kazami? Is that really you?"

"Of course it's me! I even have this card with me!" Kazami rummages her pockets and digs out a card, saying the word 'smile'.

Karma, for the first time in 12 years, gives out a warm smile.

"I guess it's probably because of you, Onii-san~!"

"Oi, oi, Kazami-san..."

"Nagisa-niisan, what's up?"

"How did you stop the bullets?"

Silence.

"Umm, I don't really know, it's by instinct, I guess..." Kazami carcasses her neck awkwardly.

"Nagisa, you should contact everyone in our class." Karma says, "There might be a slight chance that they might be targeted, too."

"Don't worry, Onii-san! Um, Chiharu, Katsuki, you rang them, right?"

"Chiharu-chan and Katsuki-chan are here, too?" Nagisa looks at the entrance of the park, and there they are, standing.

"Yes. Akakage and Verona should be right about rounding everyone in class 3-E." Katsuki says, "And the position is..."

"Beika Park." Chiharu finishes.
