The final New Year Festival Day (Day 3)

I can't believe how fast the festival days are going. It's the last day to hangout with Carina again before we head back to school. Well, better make it worthwhile I thought.

I headed back out to the fest grounds to where I met up with Carina.

"What should we do today Carina?" I asked.

"Let's grab a bite first then check out the sports section for a while. While you were with Mason yesterday, I found my family at the sports section and they have some super intense Volleyball games. We should totally check it out to see the finals." replied Carina.

"Okay sounds good," I said."How about food on the go so we can watch the game?"

"Perfect!" said Carina. "Anyways, where's Mason? Are you hanging out with him again?"

"No, he went home last night after hanging out with me," I said.

"That's ok.. Well hopefully Scotty doesn't come around" Carina said.

"Haha, we'll see! now let's get our food!" I replied.

After getting our food, we walked over to the volleyball court.

The first few games we watched was pretty intense, not to mention some of the guys were handsome. They were all pretty built with good heights of 5'5 or taller and they all jumped pretty well as blockers and their defense was on point. While watching them play, I noticed someone on the court as a ref. Out of all people, this ref was no one other than Jackson. Jackson worked with me at the same retail store and wow, he is such a jerk! Like I've done nothing wrong to him but bump into him once on accident. I apologized and he just gave me a stare and groan "ugh" and walked away. He has such a bad attitude and if that's the way he wants to play, FINE. I'll play that way too.

Anyways, we've never not said anything to each if we were in the same room. So when I saw him on the court. I gave him a nasty glare and shouted,

"YO REF. YOU SUCK!"

Jackson turned around and just gave me a smirk. Gosh I hated his smirk it just means he's going to mess with me more later. While watching, Carina got a tap on her shoulder and of course it was Scotty and Kenji.

"Oh Hey," I said, while Kenji and Scotty came to either side of us.

"What are you guys watching? asked Kenji.

"Just some Volleyball, it's pretty intense" I said.

"You like volleyball? asked Kenji.

"I mean I like watching it sometimes, but not a big fan. I can play but I'm not that good. How about you? I asked back.

"I don't play any sports. But I like watching. Anyways, how long have you been here?" Kenji asked.

"For a while. We've just been watching the game here since there's not much stuff to do anymore. Everything is getting wrapped up. How about you both? Did you both just get here?" I asked.

"No we've been here a while, just looking for you both. Do you mind if we walk together and hang out?" Kenji asked.

"Sure, I don't mind. Carina can stay here and watch the game if she would like." I said.

Kenji: Yep I'm sure Scotty would love to stay with her.

We both left the volleyball field and started walking around again. This time we played the ball toss game and some other game in which he won me prizes. From the games Kenji got me some flowers.

I thanked him of course and soon we were comfortable with each other and spent the rest of the day together. When the New Year Festival was coming to an end, another prayer ceremony occurred in which we all gathered around and did some prayers.

During this time I closed my eyes....

*Kenji thoughts while looking at me.

Wow, isn't she something. I felt like I've known her forever, although it's only been 3 days since we've met. She's really nice and open minded. I wish the day would have lasted longer and it didn't have to end. So, here I am praying... I hope today and these moments marks something new.. a new beginning with me and her.

I hope that all those around me are healthy and happy. This year, if anything I wish to start new with someone else and forget the past of who I was.

Once I opened my eyes, I saw Kenji staring at me. I smiled and looked away for I was shy and I wasn't sure how long he has been looking at me. I turned away but just as I turned away, I felt my hand being pulled towards someone and when I looked back, It was Kenji. He had pulled me into a hug. I was in shock and didn't move.

"I know this may be weird" Kenji said "but can I please just hold on to you like this for a moment... before the day ends?"

I stood there listening to his words and soon enough, I hugged him back. We then exchange numbers and social media stuff then said our goodbyes.

Once I got home I went straight to my room, closed the door and now I can feel my heart beating and my body warming up, causing my cheeks to feel red and hot..

Is something starting again I wondered??

Have I really fallen for that stranger with the nice smile?
