"Young misses. Time to wake up. We have arrived at your grandparent's place." Lia said as she lightly shakes Drizella who is hugging Anastasia and leaning on Ana.
She rubbed her eyes lazily trying to clear her vision. The ride to her grandparent's house is very bumpy. To not make her two-year-old sister fall and uncomfortable Drizella let her sit on her and along the way they both fell asleep. Letting Ana carry Anastasia, she climbed out of the carriage and has the chance to stretch her body before meeting her grandparents.
Looking around the place, they seem to be in the outskirt of town and near the forest. There weren't any house near where they are it almost seems like the countryside. Drizella can only hear the sound of the wind breezing pass and the air of fresh grass. Nature was all around her and there was only silence with a cool breeze passing by.
"Young miss from here on we would have to walk and..." Lia kneels down before Drizella. She lowers her head closing her eyes with reluctance. "Ana and I can't call you two misses anymore so..."
Drizella patted her head making her face up. Drizella then look at Ana who also was dejected. She smiles proudly not wanting them to worry about her or Anastasia. "Lia and Ana please call me Daisy and Anastasia will be... Stacey. Do you it Stacey?"
Anastasia laugh out and clapping calling her nickname. Her smile and Drizella's words make them seem assured and proud to be the maids of these two.
...
How... how much farther do they need to walk? I'm out of energy now...
Drizella was breathing hard each breath took almost all her energy yet they haven't even reached their destination. She suddenly has a thought--when all her energy run dry they will finally reach their destination. Her tired slanted eyes look at Lia and Ana admiring them for still being ok. This must be due to them always running around the house doing their jobs.
Lia and Ana take turns carrying Anastasia and the luggage. From time to time it would be water replenish and resting so that she could continue to walk on. They offered to help carry her but she declined straightforward not wanting them to be tired.
Sometimes Drizella wonders if they are heading in the right direction. From her small point of view, they seem to be going in circles. Have they even gone to her grandparent's house before?
"Ana. Are we there yet?" Drizella said after controlling her breathing.
Ana replied: "Almost"
Lia: "Have you been there before to say 'almost'."
Ana: "Yeah! Just once though."
Drizella's eyes widen and almost spit the water out. She was coughing from quickly swallowing the almost spilling water. She felt like water has gone into her nose as she coughs and try to squeeze her nose to let the water out from her nose.
The other two only stare stupidly at her while Anastasia was giggle at her misfortune.
You only went there once and you're already so confident to lead us without even thinking about asking mama for a map! Your whole family is stupid! This was what she wanted to shout out at Ana for her courageousness.
The 'almost' that Ana said before took them almost half an hour to reach. Drizella felt like they got the wrong house and was looking at Ana foolishly. The same can be said to Lia too who was also looking at her dumbly. How she wishes she can shout curses out but watching at how proud the Ana who always have a calm appearance is like now... she didn't have the courage to shake her spirit.
The house wasn't like the house that Drizella was living before. When they boarded that ship, she was expecting a house (fancy or not) that middle-class family on Earth is able to afford but... this is a simple house made out of wood almost like a cabin but not. The length is more vertical than horizontal.
Ana walks up to the door with a letter in hand. She knocks three times on the door before hearing a woman's voice calling 'coming'. The voice was firm but a little shaky and lower than a girl. However, it has a soft sound to it.
Knowing that this was her grandma's voice she was expecting an old granny with white hair slowly opening the door. Yet when the door open it wasn't an old granny but a woman in her late 40's! Drizella mouth flow upon on their own and her arm which has no strength but suddenly gained strength. Pointing her pointing finger at the person at the door she shut, "Grandpa is CHEATING on grandma!"
They all almost drop what they were holding. Even Anastasia felt a little wobbly from Lia's hands. It surprises her at first but feeling the thrill of it she chuckle and did the same thing as Drizella. She pointed her little fingers straight at the door saying lovely, "Chat! Chat! Chat!"
Drizella was already embarrassed by her own sentence. She was cursing at herself--Shit how can an adult like me say such outrageous words out loud. You really are a piece of crap Luna! When Anastasia added her incoherent word of 'cheat' the pink blush on Drizella's cheek turned into red and spread all over her face. She can't take any more humiliation... she hurriedly knelt down covering her face with her hair and her ears with her hands.
...
Drizella sits nervously on the chair. She can feel piercing glances shooting at her from time to time.
The woman who was in her late forties sighs deeply: "Those two daughters of mine are too much leaving behind their daughters to resolve their own problems. So what are my granddaughters' name?"
Hearing those words and seeing her mother's letter on the woman's hand. She knows that that person is truly her grandma. Drizella places her hand on her chest: "Drizella Wilson but grandma can call me Daisy and this is Anastasia Wilson. Anastasia nickname is Stacey."
Grandma: "Oh! Didn't Daisy just call me a tramp?"
Drizella's body quiver and she shake her hands indicating a no: "No! Daisy didn't know that grandma was still so young and beautiful!"
Grandma: "You thought I was old then!"
She lowered her head and whispered, "Daisy is sorry, grandma. Grandma don't be mad."
Grandma sigh again, with a cheerful face she said: "My name is Amelia Ferguson and your grandpa who isn't home right now is Matthew Ferguson. You two are now Ferguson and not Wilson anymore, got it."
Drizella nodded her head understanding and Anastasia copy her action.
Amelia glance at the two maids. She already knows Ana but she didn't know the other one. Ana still introduces herself along with Lia: "Ana Bernstein and this is Lia Coleman."
Amelia said: "In this house, everything goes according to me and we aren't rich like the Wilson. We are both just commoners... the sad thing is that our daughter married into nobility."
Drizella was surprised but hide her shock. She didn't really think that her mother's parents would be commoners. Wouldn't her father's family oppose to their marriage?
