Getting ready for a cold night

Yielding to the desires of two yearning hearts, Thanksgiving arrived in a flash to welcome the holiday season. The temperature got lowered during the day and reduced to cold breeze at night. The weather forecast advised the people to wear coats to protect themselves from the freezing breeze and possible shower of snow to their prediction.

Giselle rummaged through her neatly organized closet in search of a perfect dress for the seventh time when Lia came running to intrude.

"Mother! Mother!" She chirped, "How about this? How do I look?" She hurriedly asked to shake a leg?

One glance at her outfit of choice, Giselle saw Lia wore a pretty laced white summer dress with short sleeves. It did look great on her but the end of November not only marks the lovely Thanksgiving, but also rough weather.

"Lia, you look pretty, dear, but it gets cold at night. It'd be great if you wore jeans and pair it with your favorite top," Giselle suggested.

Lia refused the idea, insisting on wearing her pretty summer dress but agreed to add full black tights to cover her legs and keep it safe from even the slightest sprinkle of white snow.

With that, Lia said to upgrade her looks for the night. Meanwhile, Giselle returned to her mayhem, scouring the closet which now has only fewer options left to decide.

Soon to bother their busy ears sounded a familiar tune.

Engrossed into her grooming, Giselle neglected the noise, but someone else didn't.

Answering to the familiar buzz was little Lia, who came sprinting into Giselle's room while squealing along the way.

"It's dad!"

"It must be daddy!"

"He said he would call!"

Those hasty steps halted in search of her mother's phone. Hunting down the space to her sharp ears and careful eyes, Lia found it showing up from underneath the pile of clothes on the bed. Little Lia looked at her mother and found her to be occupied with her head deep inside the closet. The calling almost neared its end and Lia worried to miss it. So she searched through the piled up clothes, pulling one after the other, carefully, and finally retrieved the mobile to answer it. Thankfully, she was able to get connected.

"Hello, dad!" Lia sounded little American to depress her father's good mood.

"Hello, dear," he sounded slightly sore.

" Happy Thanksgiving Day, Dad!" Lia said to her merriment.

Ethan ignored her pronunciation against the battle with time. He cannot afford to pass time getting upset. Plus, it is inescapable for Lia not to get influenced by her American society.

"Happy Thanksgiving, Lia!" he returned in a cheerful tone.

The two continued to talk while Giselle finally gasped from finding the perfect dress to wear for tonight's dinner. Lastly, recognizing the mess she created, she sighed, feeling somber from adding more work to her later.

Apart from tidying up, Giselle followed Lia's voice to find her resting behind the huge stack of clothes.

"Lia, what are you doing here? Why aren't you dressed-" she paused to notice, "Who you're talking to?" She asked.

Lia turned to inform it was her father who called.

Surprised that she never heard her phone buzzing, Lia explained how the device got buried under the tower of her mother's wardrobe scattered on the bed. Apprehending the happenings, Lia passed on the mobile to Giselle since Ethan requested to hand it over to her.

"I spoke to father," Lia said, reverting to her British sound that she caught from talking to her father. She passes the phone to her mother.

"I'm going to finish getting ready," she commented while hurrying back to her room. Giselle saw little Lia leave in jolly as she returned to address Ethan. He promised to give them a call on Thanksgiving, also Giselle had informed him about the dinner with Anna and Jake. He had worries in him that made a pledge to make this call before they leave for the evening.

Ethan asked if Lillian Grey would join, to which Giselle admitted positive.

Silence followed between the two before Ethan broke it.

"Is he coming too?" he asked, referring to Diego.

"Yes," Giselle said.

"Are you sure that you want to attend this dinner? I mean this guy-" Ethan paused to remind her of their harsh history.

"I know, Ethan!" Giselle exhaled achingly.

"I know, but I can't keep running away. I don't wish to run away anymore. I'm tired of feeling frightened. I want to face him, but never alone. It will be fine. Lillian is there, Anna too, and her husband as well. What can he do in front of them, those people who are close to him like family?"

"It will be fine. I- I hope I'll be alright. Thanks for worrying!" She said.

Ethan couldn't respond right away as he was smiling on his end, feeling proud to hear Giselle say so and finally discovering her courage.

"That's- You did get a bit stronger, Giselle," he uttered while his voice cracked along.

Giselle knew what he meant and she reassured him not to worry. With that, their call ended shortly as Giselle informed him to continue their talk later as she is running late to get ready.

Lia returned, dressed as intended to her taste. She added the black tights to cover her short legs and keep it warm. Adding to her attire, she wore gloves and a scarf to wrap her neck around. Overall, submerged in thick levels of cloaks, she got ready to protect herself from a cold night.
