"LILLY!" the voice reached causing her to exit daydreaming.
"What?" she replied to her father Edwin Grey who looked at her in a puzzle.
Edwin noticed his daughter dozing off during dinner instead of eating. She hasn't touched her meal too. It made him worry. He had been calling her for a long time until she reacted finally.
"Eat your food, champ. I see you look flushed." Edwin said.
Lillian's face did look flushed. Hearing Giselle's confession after school, rejecting her on the spot, and finally her face;
'I'll be fine' - those words when Giselle uttered while facing Lillian with a pained expression, it registered in Lillian's mind.
Her brain occupied the images of Giselle; when she proposed, her face, the lavender scent that Lillian could still remember, her soft hands she played, and the voice that drew her soul like a slave to its master.
All of it got wiped out when she heard Edwin's loud voice attacking her ears.
"UH" Lillian screamed.
"Champ, what happened?" "You haven't touched your food!!!" Edwin looked worried.
"I cooked fried chicken specifically for you since it has been so long since we had it for dinner." Edwin tried to distract.
However, Lillian went back to her still state. It was only her body at present and her mind somewhere else.
Edwin reached his limit and wanted to confront.
"Did you get any love confession today at school?" Edwin guessed.
Lillian flinched at those words. Her eyes widened as Edwin confirmed it.
"UH!!!" Lillian reacted in fear.
"I've been there too, honey." Edwin chuckled remembering his past.
"Trust me, dad, I swear you haven't experienced what I did today!" Lillian replied in the gasp.
Edwin looked at his daughter curiously.
"What? Is it a girl who proposed you to behave like this?"
"I guess I would also get shocked if a same-sex person confesses to me." Edwin tried to imagine the situation.
Lillian's heart raced as she tried to stop from dwelling deep into the conversation. She wanted to put an end to it.
"Don't assume it yourself, dad. It's not like that." Lillian scoffed and dug into her favorites.
"Hmm... dad this is super delicious... can I have some more?" Lillian enjoyed her fried chicken wings.
Seeing her daughter enjoy the food and eating it, Edwin focused on serving her food and stopped about the 'love confession' topic.
...
After dinner, Lillian spent time doing her homework. She took a shower before bed and then, came out wearing sweatpants and a black tank top. She dried her hair and stood in front of the mirror.
Her bare face revealed her natural features. Little scratches here and there and uneven skin tone did not appeal as the attributes that might make her a beauty. Overall, she had clean skin with no marks on her face other than the temporary scares that she usually hides under light makeup. While her body was still damp from the shower, she traced her slender figure.
After steadily watching at her reflection, Lillian's gaze returned to her face, tracing from top till it reached her wet lips. She kept staring at it for a long time.
'Why would she like me?'
'I look like this!!!'
She noticed a few marks on her face. It wasn't too bad, but still, due to her active lifestyle, Lillian never bothered a few times to protect her skin which resulted in those uneven skin tones and pigmented marks. Other than that, she never had acne which is common at that age.
'Am I releasing any special pheromones to attract her?' Lillian smelled herself.
She smelled fresh after shower.
After checking herself out while questioning Giselle's love, Lillian finally gave up and went to bed. She lied down and took a deep breath.
Her mind suddenly popped a question:
'What will you do the next time you see her?'
'After all, she's in your class?'
Just the thought made her heart race once again.
'Calm down, you damn heart. What happened to your rocking steadiness?'
'Damn it you're out of control.'
Lillian tried to calm down herself.
'Anyways, I'll probably ignore her. I mean I've never really focused on her in the past.'
Lillian's eyes flinched from those thoughts.
'Well, that's how it is supposed to be. It is not like I love Giselle. It is better to stop it from developing unnecessary troubles.'
Lillian exhaled and shut her eyes.
Soon, she fell asleep on her bed.

NEXT DAY AT SCHOOL -
To Anna and Diego's surprise, Lillian arrived earlier and waited for them.
"Is the world going to die today?" Diego joked.
"Oh, stop it. I can come to school earlier a few times." Lillian snapped.
The trio reunited the morning and went inside. Lillian looked unsteady as her eyes kept wandering.
"Who are you expecting?" Anna smirked lightly.
"No one."
Lillian's immediate response startled both as they stopped. Lillian walked next to Anna, who's next to Diego. Their heads turned instantly at the same time to face the 'suspicious' Lillian.
"What?" Lillian yelled.
"Something happened."
Anna guessed. Diego agreed.
As they both kept rumbling about their best friends sudden change, Lillian's wandering eyes froze as soon as she saw a familiar figure.
Giselle.
She looked pretty in her red blouse and black jeans. Her long straight hair perfectly brushed without any locks. The front bangs would often grace her cheeks as she would adjust them with her hands. Giselle wore light makeup and looked almost natural.
While the friends rambled, Lillian Grey's eyes and mind completely absorbed Giselle's appearance.
She looked pale and had puffy eyes. Lillian's heart skipped a beat.
'Was she crying all night?' - Lillian got worried.
Giselle kept walking until she heard a loud ruckus coming from the sides. She turned right to see Lillian and her friends, Anna and Diego arguing.
Giselle's eyes met with Lillian. They both got startled, and Lillian quickly diverted her vision back to her arguing friends.
They were making a loud noise that almost everyone who's entering the school looked at them weirdly. Lillian got embarrassed from the scene.
She put an end to their debate by violently grabbing their necks with each hand. Anna and Diego's heated conversation came to a stop.
"Let's go inside before we receive early morning detention," Lillian commanded as she kept dragging her friends towards the school building.
