Bone-shattering pain!!

It was excruciating.

Levy was sure that she had died in the explosion. But she could still feel the pain in her body which was making it difficult for her to move.

Levy slowly opened her eyes.

However, she was flabbergasted when she realised that she could no longer recognize her surroundings.

There were very simple furnishings—which consisted of a bed, a table, there was an ordinary style vase and it had Yellow wildflowers that were in full bloom.

It seemed that they were picked from the overgrown bush in one of the cervices of the corner. 

It lightened up the atmosphere of the slightly dark room.

While examining her surroundings, she felt a sharp pain in her head and she saw the memories of an unknown girl fly pass her eyes. It was akin to watching an old film on a reel. 

The images were hazy, at best.

She became cognizant of the fact that they were the images of memories of a girl named Gu Hua and her past.

Gu Hua was the heaven celestial admired general Gu's daughter from the first wife. 

She also has a baby brother who was three years old, Gu Ming. 

Gu Hua's mother died due to an illness and father Gu Jiang didn't care for either of the siblings.  

Slowly everyone began to disregard their existence and finally, the duo was thrown into a broken down courtyard to pass their measly existence. 

None of the servants took care of their courtyard and hence the courtyard took on a dilapidated appearance. 

Their courtyard became the focal point of sister Gu Pan who would more often than not come there to vent her frustrations. 

Both the siblings would be subject to her cruel beatings, causing wounds all over their bodies. 

Finally, Gu Hua died while saving her brother from yet another beating. 

Once she had seen all the bitter memories of Gu Hua, Levy opened her eyes and they were as cold as a frozen lake. 

She was an orphan in her previous life. 

She had never known the warmth of family love. 

In her previous life, all she had was her two best friends with whom she has faced everything—good and bad. 

Just the mere thought of them made her feel a fierce heartache.

As Levy recalled the fierce and all-encompassing love Gu Hua had for her brother, she felt a warmth inside her heart.

Since I've occupied this body, I am Gu Hua and you are my brother. I will take good care of you.

While she was lost in her train of thought, she felt the weight of the little boy lain beside her shift.

"Ming, your sister will protect you."

The little boy tightened his arms around her as if he heard her voice.

Gu Hua chuckled and carefully observed her surroundings. 

No one was present in the room except the siblings. 

As she served in the military in her past life, she was sensitive to the sounds around her and she could determine the position of the enemies based on sound alone.

After determining that no one was present, she tried to move with her brother in her arm.

A sharp hiss left her mouth.

She felt a sharp pain in her body when she tried to move, but she didn't give up and finally got off the bed and placed her brother on it.
