Chapter 1Stuck

"Stepbrother, I'm stuck."

Yes. I was just as shocked as you are right now. Because, first things first, how?

How does anyone get stuck in the washing machine? That thing's spacious enough to fit a full grown adult comfortably.

And second? Why in the heavenly hells will she say it like that?

"What the fuck are you staring at?! I know you're staring!" Her irritated voice came from within the machine, her lower body stuck outside. She wriggled, trying to pull herself out.

Out of nature and things beyond my control, my eyes roamed over her legs and those- ahem. Those yoga pants. Yes. That was what I was about to say.

"Get me out of here!" She snapped, still trying to wriggle out.

I took a step forward and that's when things took a turn for the worse.

[Ding! Stamp Holder Detected!]

My eyes widened in horror. "Fuck, no." I whispered underneath my breath. "Fucking No!"

Unfortunately, I had no say in the matter.

Now, I know what you're wondering. Why such a reaction to a system message? How did I get here when six months ago I didn't even have one stepsister and now I have seven?

Simple.

This is not my first life.

Okay, let me start from the beginning.

This all began in another world where I was rushing to the bus stop, already late for work. Yes, I could've driven to work like my peers but there's just a teeny tiny problem. I didn't have a car.

You see, while my peers were graduating college and slumming it out at internships, I dropped out and started my own company. Unfortunately, it didn't work out and here I was, trying to catch up with everybody else.

But that wasn't even my biggest regret. My biggest regret was giving away the three hundred bitcoins I had on a whim just before bitcoin got big. Talk about hindsight. But I didn't let that stop me from trying my best to become as wealthy as I can be.

That was why I noticed the kid. Not because he was rich but because he was standing next to a Rolls Royce, admiring it.

I smiled, seeing a younger version of myself in him. I was just as young as he was when I saw how the rich lived and gained my dream.

I smiled, thinking of what could have been when it happened. I heard the loud blare of a truck and seemingly out of nowhere, it appeared, veering straight at the kid.

I had no idea when my legs started moving. I knew that it wasn't out of the goodness of my heart or anything. Maybe it was just an involuntary reaction from me but before I could snap back to reality, I had already reached the kid.

Without thinking too much, I pushed the kid out of the way and turned to meet my death. I was only able to get out two words before the truck smashed me into paste.

"Ah, shit."

I snapped awake and surged upward, gasping and choking. My brain was in panic mode as I had no idea what was going on.

Am I dying a second time?

I opened my mouth to call for help and choked, water flooding into my mouth. I writhed around, my arms hitting the side of the container I was in.

Did I die from getting hit by a truck only to die again by suffocation?! No!

I stretched out my hands and felt them break through the surface of the water. I flailed around until my hands hit something solid. I quickly grabbed onto it like the drowning man that I was and pulled myself up.

My body broke through the surface of the water with a splash and I immediately inhaled, sucking in delicious, lifesaving air.

I coughed and gasped, struggling to fill my burning lungs.

I sat there for an indeterminable amount of time, breathing in and out. After long minutes of this, I was finally calm enough to take note of my surroundings. That was when I realized I had been in a bathtub all along.

Let me tell you, I have never felt so embarrassed in my life.

It's very hilarious and extremely ridiculous when one thinks about it. Die by a truck and get reincarnated, only to immediately drown in a bathtub.

I sighed, shaking my head.

Though the situation is embarrassing, I felt relieved that I was safe and in no mortal danger.

It was now that I was now able to think straight. I looked around in confusion, wondering how I got here and why I was sitting fully clothed in a bathtub.

The last thing I remembered was-

I yelled in pain as the memories began flooding my brain. It was as if someone had hit my head with a baseball bat. After a few seconds, the pain disappeared and the memories settled as if they had been there all along.

I blinked, rubbing my eyes as I sorted out what was happening. I had died and gone to heaven but that's a story for later.

The important thing here was that I had been given a second chance at life. I had been reincarnated as someone else but unlike regular reincarnations, mine comes with a time limit.

Right now, my name is Nico Voss and I'm the illegitimate and only son of billionaire, Logan Voss.

I'm also the forgotten child due to my birth status, hidden away by my father. I also have seven step sisters who were much closer to him than I was. My whole life had been spent, trying not to attract his attention in any way.

I felt dizzy and my head spun for a moment. I was Nico Voss and at the same time, I was Nico from earth.

Nico Voss had been so depressed with his situation in life and from being deprived of meaningful human contact and had taken his own life in the bathtub.

And now as Nico Voss, all I had was five years to inherit everything that belonged to Logan Voss or my new life would be taken away from me.

Shit.

That was when salvation came in the form of a blue screen appearing in front of me.

I rate my book a solid five stars and I'll tell you why. Don't worry, I actually do have an objective reason why. I wrote this book because I was tired of reading urban fantasy wealth building books with no substance and wanted to write one that won't be so painful to read. Most of those books suffer from what I like to call the “deliberate stupidity syndrome” whereby the MC could've gotten a hundred billion dollars by chapter 30 and shown everybody how great he is but the author keeps him dumb just so the story can continue. Any reasonably smart person would have exploited those systems and become billionaires by day 2 or one week at most. I didn't want something like that, so I created a system with a natural limit. Nico (my MC) can't just print money out of nowhere. He has to actually plan and work for it. With no infinite money glitch, we get to see his hard work and cheer for him on the way. The second thing I wanted to curb was “face slapping.” If the wealth building book doesn't have a dumb MC with the deliberate stupidity syndrome, the book will be rife with useless face slapping. These books have no actual plot and use face slapping to pad the stories. I wanted to write an urban wealth building book where the story has an actual plot and goal and doesn't need to rely on face slapping to be good. I hope these points convince you to read my book. I will appreciate it if you read all the free chapters before deciding to drop. Thank you in advance. If you have any questions, you can ask here.
