The Devil's Groom
Her lips felt like shreds of glass against the back of his hand, her grey eyes locking with his. He was met with the unsettling sight of her irises, which mirrored the darkness in his own. Taken aback he gasped a little, A smile adorning the girl's lips at the small stifled noise that left his lips.
"Well, this isn't my first time at life."
she spoke voice naturally raspy, a maturity to it that he couldn't quite pinpoint. So instead he looked back into the mirrors that she calls eyes. Her stare unrelenting, suddenly he realized.
'this woman holds no fear.'
He swallowed clearing his throat realizing that he didn't reply awkward silence now rang through the space between them.
"Is that a new pickup line I'm unaware of?"
He uttered voice cracking ever so slightly nervousness suddenly filling his bones. She wasn't normal he notes she held a darkness in her eyes that his own couldn't dare compete with. Her smile broaden at his reaction not even hiding the fact that she saw through him wholly.
"Maybe."
She mused finally looking away from him falling into her own thoughts.
A book got her into a life she only read about. A book built up her interest in a vicious man who she should fear. And a book made the most relatable character an antagonist. So she became a bigger evil than him, only to protect him of course.
So with the gift of a new life thanks to the book, she decided to pay it back by ruining it.
