Chapter 4

In a vast green land, a black shadow slowly made it's way forward.

It was secretly being followed behind by a small figure.

The pair were none other than William and the little girl.

They have been walking for hours now.

Well walking might be an overstatement.....

It was closer to crawling rather than walking.....

'He is so slow....'

The little girl said in her mind as she stared at William's back from behind a giant rock.

At first she would vigilantly follow behind William, making sure to keep her guard up and quickly hide whenever she felt that William would turn around.

But...

No matter if she fell down, stepped on some branch or dropped a rock, William wouldn't turn back no matter what.

He would just keep walking forward....

At first it made her think that her stealth skills were quite good!

But then she came to realise that the person just didn't care...

It was a good think as it made her let down her guard a little bit she would still keep a necessary distance between them.

But the thing is.....

'He is going way too slow....'

His speed was so slow that she almost had the urge to go forward and start pull him by his hand.

Just like that the unusual dua kept walking through the rich greenland.

---------------------------------

*Crunch*

William bite down on the fruit in his hand as he layed against a tree looking down at map before him.

Raising his hand he plucked out another blue coloured fruit from the tree and bite down on it.

*Crunch*

Not too far away from him, the little girl kept staring at the fruits on the tree with drool flowing out from her mouth.

Then she looked up at the fruit's right above her head.

She also wanted to get one, unfortunately her height didn't allow her to reach reach for it.

Just then....

The blue fruit suddenly dropped right on top of her head, sending waves of pain through her body.

She held her head as drops of tears formed at the corners of her eyes, but looking at the fruit in front of her made her forget the pain as she quickly picked it up and started munching down on it.

Not too far away William played around with the rock in his hand while carefully analysing the map before him.

"This thing is way too poorly made."

William muttered in a small voice as his hand holding the rock moved, accurately hitting a blue fruit of a nearby tree making it fall down.

'My body is recovering...'

William thought as he felt strength returning to his hand, although at a slow pace.

'A month--no two weeks at most.'

He estimated that it should take about two weeks for his body to return to the level of a normal human being.

As for returning back to his previous state....

'I will need a God's blessing for that.'

It's impossible to surpass the limits of a human body without the blessing of a God.

That is why he must return to the dungeon city as soon as possible.

And walking his way there would be the height of stupidity, God knows how long that will take.

So he must get a mode of transport like a carriage or a horse.

Moving his finger, William circled a small town.

That town will be his next destination.

----------------------------------

'Shit!Shit!Shit!', A muscular man said in his mind as he suddenly started punching a nearby tree in anger.

It was leader of the thugs who kidnapped the girl, Gambit.

In just a single night his entire crew which he had painstakingly gotten together split apart.

Whenever he remembered those ba*tards who ran away with his money, Gambit will feel his blood pressure rising.

After throwing around curses for some time, Gambit finally calmed down and started thinking about his next course of action.

But there wasn't much he could do in this wilderness.

'I need to return back to the town.', Gambit's gaze turned sharp as he turned towards the direction of the town, it was the same place he kidnapped the little girl from.

With all his little supplies left, the only hope for Gambit was to reach the town before midnight, patting his horse Gambit jumped on its back before making his way forward.

-----------------------------------------

A green glow passed through William eyes as a creature he was all too familiar with suddenly appeared from the bushed to his left.

With a body half his size and it's skin green, it was the monster thay every adventurer whether he be a master or a newbie must have faught against it atleast once in their life.

A goblin.

For a moment the monster and the human stared at each other, none of them showing any sign of movement.

'Have my senses degraded to such a level that I couldn't even spot a goblin?'

While William was suffering from self doubt, the goblin came back to his senses and suddenly launched a head on attack against him.

Seeing goblin's club about to land on William the little girl instinctively jumped out from behind the tree as if wanting to help.

But what happened next made her freeze in place.

Just before the goblin's club was about to land on William, his body moved, with just a single step he easily dodged the attack by a hair's margine making the goblin losse it's balance and fall to the ground.

No understanding how he missed the target right in front of him, the goblin became angry, using his small hands the goblin tried to get back up but it looks like life wasn't going to give it a second chance.

*Pierce*

A short sword landed precisely in the soft spot of its head, easily piercing through and killing the goblin in one go.

Grabbing the hilt of the short sword, William pulled it out of the dead goblin's head and waited for the monster to disappear and turn into magic stone.

Meanwhile the little girl finally came out of her reverie, the scene of William effortlessly killing the goblin kept replaying in her mind.

His moves weren't fast, if anything they were slow, slow to the extent that she was able to easily follow them, but they were precise, as if the movement itself has been engraved in his body after going through countless battles.

Of course the little girl wasn't able to understand all that, all she knew was that William's movements just now seemed really cool.

For some reason the figure of William seems to be shinning in her eyes.

William on the other hand noticed a problem.

The corpse of the goblin wasn't disappearing.

And there not a single sign of a magic stone appearing.

Which could only mean that the monster inside the dungeon must be different from the one's outside the dungeon.

Now that his thoughts reached this point, William noticed another anomaly.

'Why did the goblin hesitate before launching his attack?'

In the dungeon the monster would attack as long as it managed to spot a human, there was zero hesitation in their eyes as if it was in their instinct to attack humans, although the goblin was the same but it still nonetheless hesitated at the start which was different then the monster's he was used to facing.

William gave one last look at the Goblin before once again walking towards the direction of the town.

Since he wasn't going to receive any monster crystal, there was no reason for him to waste his time here.

Seeing that William was once again moving, the little girl quickly followed behind, but when she arrived before the goblin she hesitated for a moment before quickly moving towards the dead goblin, using her small hands she took off the bone necklace hanging around the goblin's neck before quickly following behind William.
