Chapter 15: God Soma.

Sometimes God Soma wondered to himself, just when did he started changing?

When he first descended to the lower realm, God Soma was actually filled with expectations, the thought of starting his own familia, giving his blessing to his children, watching them grow.

The idea exited him, like any other god.

But as time passed, God Soma's thought process started changing.

His expectations died down, the children he gave his blessing to no longer interested him, their adventure were filled with nothing but robbery, money laundering, drugs.......

He became sick of it.

Why?

It was because they were the same.

They were no different then those god's in heaven who kept asking for his wine.

Infact they were even worse, atleast a god was able to drink his divine wine and stay somewhat sober, but these insufferable children of his were not even capable of enduring his divine wine.

And so God Soma gave up, he gave up on his familia, and started to solely focus on making and improving his skills.

He no longer cared about their life or death. It no longer mattered to him what crimes they commited or were committing.

'But then he came'

A bright glint passed through God Soma's eyes as he clearly remembered that day.

Dripping in monster's blood he entered his room through the window and asked for an update, at first he didn't pay any attention to him, thinking it will be the same as always.

He just wanted to quickly give him the upgrade and return back to his work.

But the moment he dropped his blood on this child's back.

Everything changed.

Because on that day.

God Soma felt that his decision to come down to the lower realm, was a right one indeed.

-------

God Soma released a small sigh as a nostalgic memory passed through his mind.

His eyes hiding behind his bangles became slightly blurry, raising his hand, he wiped the tears using his arm before looking straight at the familiar figure standing by the door with his hands crossed.

"It's okay.", God Soma said in a soft voice as he tried to mister up the best smile he possible could.

Unfortunately he wasn't someone who smiled very often, due to which even when he tried to smile, it looked like he way about to cry instead.

"The familia is doing great, everyone is improving well......."

He started mentioning several points which only he understood, the more he spoke the more hurried his time became.

"We recently made a contract with a well known smiting familia, although not as great as Hephaestus, we are grateful that they still decided to support us......"

"Do you remember the entertainment district? it is also under our control now, but don't worry we don't force anyone like Ishtar did, only those who are willing were allowed...."

"Haruhine the child you saved had grown incredibly fast, not just her but everyone else as well........"

Taking in a deep breath, God Soma stood up from his chair.

"So please go on peacefully my child, there is no need to be worried about the familia, just be careful on the other side and when you reincarnate I hope you will be able to find a more competent and fitting god......."

God Soma's voice grew smaller and smaller while the confident front he was trying to pull off grew weaker and weaker.

Then God Soma suddenly came to a stop, his head dropped and words no longer came out of his mouth.

Instead with small movement he walked out from behind his table and stood in front of William.

Standing in front of him, he slowly raised his head making their eyes match.

In that moment, a pair of dull and crystal clear eyes stared straight at each other.

Unmoving, they kept staring at each other.

Almost unconsciously, God Soma raised his right hand.

His hand trembled, as it slowly tried to approach the person who seem so close yet so far away from him.

Finally.

His shaking hand landed on William's shoulder.

And when it did.

"You're not a ghost are you?......", A very small voice escaped God Soma's mouth.

It was then, an indifferent voice once again rang out in his ears.

"I have returned, God Soma."

Returned.

It was only now that God Soma noticed the particular choice of words.

Returned.

Returned.

I have Returned.

His child William..

Has returned.

The grip holding onto William's shoulder tightened.

"Y-you're r-really back?", God Soma's voice started cracking.

"Yes."

"Really? Really?"

"Yes."

"Really?Really?Really?"

"Indeed."

"Ah......"

A tsunami of emotions slammed against God Soma's heart.

"I----I---I..."

His speach became disoriented as large dropes of tears started flowing out of his eyes.

Using his other hand, God Soma covered his face, he tried to stop himself, take control of his emotions, but they refused to listen to him, flowing out without stop.

His tears turned into hiccups, while his voice became muffled.

Using his hand which was holding William's shoulder as a support, God Soma tried to speak.

"I'm sorry...."

His voice was cracking.

"I-I should have been there......."

The day the blinding white light pierced the sky, the day he lost his blessing, the day his child was fighting alone.

"...should....I should have been there......"

God Soma grabbed his forehead, revealing his bright red eyes and tear sticked face filled with regret.

"I'm sorry for being such an incompetent god."

He couldn't look straight.

God Soma felt pathetic, so pathetic that he couldn't even look William in the face.

All this time he regretted it.

He deeply regretted it.

Being too weak, being unaware of his child's life threatening battle, every other day he would remember his child's face in his dream and be reminded of his own incompetence.

His child who trusted him, who rejected Loki for him, who cleansed his familia from its filth, who faught monsters day and night improving himself while he sat around doing nothing.

It was his incompetence that killed his child.

"I-im really sorry."

It was then.

A hand suddenly patted his head.

The sudden action stopped God Soma's train of thoughts making him instinctively raise his head.

"I forgive you."

His emotionless voice which sounded more like a sarcasm then comfort.

"So stop crying."

And his expressionless face which didn't change even in this situation.

"You're ruining my clothes."

Without a doubt, it was his child William.
