[Batch #4173 activation successful, testing phase commencing shortly, please standby.] Those were the first words that erupted into the dark space. He had just woken up, laying on an obsidian black plain surrounded by others nearly identical to him. They all possessed porcelain white bodies not unlike a mannequin you’d find in a clothing store. It seems they’ve all heard the voice and are now waiting for something else in anticipation. A portion of the empty sky opens revealing a glowing mechanical eye of some sort. The voice makes itself known once more, it’s words only aiding to confuse those present further. [Culling will begin in ten minutes, we’ll be monitoring your results.] Time runs out, there’s silence, suddenly there’s a deep and thunderous ‘BOOM!’ accompanied by a deep rumbling that erupts from the ground below, then it begins. ————————————————————————— P.S. This is my first time writing and this idea sounded pretty cool in my head so I was like, why not? So it might be kinda trashy.
In a lone section of space devoid of any stars lay a black obsidian cube nearly the size of a planet. On one of its sides are what appear to be mannequins such as the ones you'd find at a clothing store, except these mannequins have no facial features and possess bodies made of some kind of white metal.
One of these mannequins shudders slightly, before jolting upright. It looks from left to right taking in the sight of its countless 'siblings'. Despite the lack of any light source there's a surprising amount of visibility on the cube. While taking a minute to observe it's surroundings the the other mannequins begin waking up too. They all then stand up slowly and gather in groups of five.
As soon as the last group has gathered a loud guttural boom echoes from the ground beneath them followed by an intense shaking that knocks a few off their feet. Although they all don't seem to mind the events taking place, as soon as it starts they all turn their heads in the same direction, seemingly sensing what's to come. In the direction they're looking, parts of the cube begin rising from the ground to form a building which looks to be a massive temple of some sort.
The shaking stops following the end of the temples construction and the mannequin groups begin walking towards it. Upon entering the building the most apparent thing is the several circular altars that are present, each one labeled uniquely with an unknown language. Once they've all entered the doors slam shut behind them leaving the room mostly unlit besides the eerie glow of the altars.
Each group takes their place on an altar and stills. Once the final group has taken their place, the ground beneath their feet begins to shine brighter and brighter until it suddenly dissipates
